  1. well acording to the Revo S manual there are certain spot that need to be oiled after every use, so im just trying to figure out how to do just that
  2. ive been trying to figure out the propwer way to oil my Revo S after fishing, ive been putting the oil where the picture shows but it seem that i need to remove some things to properly oil the whole real, any body know where i can find a how to for oiling the revo S? also what In your opinion is the best oil to use on fishing reels?
  3. i searched and took the recomendation for a good all around rod, since i mostly bank fish or fish with my buddie on lake magdalene i needed a rod that with a lil bit of training of my end would perform well in all techniques, but since i moslty fish t-riged womrs, i was looking for a 6 '6" or 7' mh rod with a fast action tip. i got an all star select 6 '6" mh fast rod i was hoping to find a 7 footer but ot a great deal on the 6'6" , my rod is rated for 1/4 to 3/4 oz lures an 10-20 lbs test line. i really like it its light has good back bone for pulling the few fish i have caught with it. a medium i think would have been too light and the abu garcia ambassadeur i had before was too heavy but i liked the action on it.
  4. im lookin for styles, colors, techiniques, I go fishing with my buddie in Lake Magdalene in Tampa, FL , it seem that everytime the fish change and i can never say that i have a lure that works the best and im trying to find a way to catch more fish. i could say the most succesful lures we have used are t-rigged worms in various colors: Zoom 7" power worms in Chartreusse Zoom 7" trick worms in black and watermelon red one day it seemed the fihs only wanted to eat some bloodred senkos with a chartreusse tail but only when trolled weightless other than that we have been unsuccessful with every other bait. im looking for some recomendation on colors and techniques to catch more fish. what do y'all think?
  5. im using #12 berkley vanish, i know a lot of people hate vanish but i like it, ranted i havent tried any other fluoro, but i like it more than mono or power pro.
  6. from my short experience i preffer mono or fluoro, with braid it sem that i allwasy yank the bait out of thhe fishes mouth, mono has more strech and give the fish a chance to inhale the bait, i switched my baitcaster over to Fluoro and i think it gives me the best inbetween feeling for my allaround fishing rod, its sensitive and still has some strech so i just gotta remember to set the hook a lil less abruptly that with mono
  7. i have tried the swivel clasps, and i dont like it cause the swivel make my crank baits spin, when my previous spinning rod broke ( shakespeare agility combo) on the first fish i had ever hooked with it while i was waiting for the replacement, i used the swivel snap and i didnt like for the reason mentioned before, so i just took the swivel part of and just used the snap that was better but i find i like having the spinning set up for weighless worms and having the baitcaster for the weighted stuff
  8. my "finesse" spinning setup consists of a Quantum Optix combo, it was cheap and its mostl used as my loaner rod but i allwasy bring it with me in case i have my baitcaster with a crankbait and dont wanna re tie a lot, i use my Baitcaster for everything else i just redial the reel for the lighter stuff. i dod this cause i ve noticed i can cast about the same or better with the baitcaster over the spinning
  9. if youve never used a bait casting reel , then lefty or righty doestnreally matter at least it didnt matter to me, i have allwasy used spinning setups and i cast right handed and retrive left handed, with the my New baitcaster i cast left handed and retrive right it just feel natural to me to cast with the hand that isgonna be holding the rod. as for the reel i dont have any coment i got a super smoking deal on a rove s with an allstart rod and im very happy with that set up
  10. I'm selling an abu silver max for $45 shipped I only used it 2 times so is basically new if you are interested
  11. the first lure i caught a bass with a was 7.5 culprit power worm in okee gold, the first lure i remember fishing with was a squid in El chaure bay in Venezuela caught me a rock snapper (they look like bass but wit an orange belly ) i caught in the bay that we used to live with my dad and we brought it home and dad fried it for me about 10 mins after i caught it it was awesome
  12. im using berkley vanish #12 in by baitcaster and Zebco onmiflex #8 in my spinning, i havent had any of the problems that people complain about with the vanish, i actually was able to pull my buddy's boat to the snag to get it out. took the vanish a few casts to get limp and cast long, but i really like it. im using the palomar knot on both lines
  13. also ive been casting a 1/8 bullet sinker with a 2/0 worm hook and a berkley powerbait 5" power shaky worm on berkley vanish 12#
  14. i just got a Revo S, I love it granted this is technically my first bait caster ( i had an Abu silver max for about a day, before i found a great deal on the revo s) so i guess i technically learned to cast on the silver max i had lots of birds nest in the silver max, but good thing from that is that i got good at getting them out..lol... any way last night i set up the revo s, I have 3 brakes on, and the mechanical brake set just right and on my first cast i got it all the way across my pond, something that took me a few cast and adjustments to do with the silver max, i like the flipping witch in the Silver Max, but the Revo S is much easier to cast just some minor tweaking at it was golden, the Silver max is a very good reel for the money but it takes more adjustment to get it to cast well and not birds nest
  15. Dick's will no longer take home printed coupons, if you want them to accept the coupon you must email it to a Coach at the store and they must print it in Dicks paper in order for them to take them, i tried using the current $10 off $50 coupon and they told me i had to had to email it and have it printed if i wanted to use it, which apparently takes about a week cause they print it and mail it to you
  16. im right handed with spinning i cast with my right hand and retrive with my left, but just got a BC set up and i find it easier to cast with my left hand and retrive with my right
  17. Angler1, you are right i guess i never saw it that way either, maybe is cause i make the mistake of assuming people are as careful and respectful of things as i am. BUT.. I decided to go to a different Dicks today one that is a lil farther from me to get a Berkly Amp Rod, for the Abu silver Max i bought i few days ago at walmart, since i didnt like the abu garcia ambassadeur rods i got from there as well. it was kinda heavy and tired my hand, plus when i hooked a fish i didnt feel it i thought i had hit weeds and as i reel in a see lil dink on the end it didnt even feel like i had a fish on. anyway while looking at the berkley amps i spot a rod with a abu revo s mounted on it, but this is not the same black/green rod that i was talking about in the OP. this one has the graphite looking blank and orange accents, it had the dicks price of $169, but it also had a SALE sticker that had the price ripped off, i took it to the counter and asked the guy there to price check it for me, he scanned it and told me it was $59.97 i asked him why was it priced different from the other ones they had of the same brand rod and combo that where green, he told me it must be last years model and that once the new models come in the old models go on sale, i took it and walked straight to the register and bought it, it think its an awesome deal even if its a 08 model ....lol... so guys if there is a Dicks near you go check them out and see if they still have a old revo s/ all start select combo, the rods are graphite looking with orangel thread accents, the one i got is a 6'6" MH not a 7' mh like the new green/black models, but i cant complain i got a great deal
  18. Barron we dont have academy here in florida and Dicks is the store that carries the best selection of fishnggear near me, i went there to look at the berkley amp rods, i decided to go to the one in brandon hoping they would have the 7' version that they didnt have in the wesley chapel one when i spot an alll star select with an abu garcia revo s mounted on it, except this one wasnt the same rod that their revoS/all star rod combo normally has, this one looked like graphite and had orange accents, instead of the black green from their normal combos i had seen, i picked it up and it had a price of $169 on it but then had an orange sticker that said sale, but the price had been ripped up, i took it to the counter and asked for a price check, the guy there told me it was $59.97, i asked why this one was different price that the green ones and he told me that it must be last years colors, so they go on sale once the new colors come in i took it and walked directly to the register and bought it, its a medium heavy 6'6", i wish it would have been a 7' but i cant complain, basically i got a revo s for half the price and a got a free all start rod to boot, needless to say i came home and grabbed the wal-mart abu rod and the silver max and returned it. the revo s and the all start select rod cost me less than the abu rod and silver max i had bought at walmart..lol.. almost $20 less. so if you guys have Dicks around you hit them up and see if they still have any of these 08 revos/all start combos around
  19. i may retunr the rod and get a Berkley Amp, the Abu rod from walmart is really heavy and tires my hand easily , it may also be that im not used to holding the rod in my left hand
  20. well i ended up getting the silver max, fine reel , after my first 5 cast resulting in birds nests ( good thing i was watching bass edge and they show the tips on how to get them out with out having to cut the line) i adjusted the reel properly avoid them then i was just plarcticing casting and retrieving fast and caught my first dink lol i was just retrieving and boom i had a fish on, the reel does cast really well i still have to practice my aim more but all and all im happy i whent for the abu. plus the one i got was cheaper than normal so yeah im happy
  21. well i ended up getting the silver max at walmart, along with an abu garcia tournament grade 7 'mh rod from there as well as my first baitcasting set up, i had a gift card for wally world and got some zoom trick worms in june bug and black and some bullet weight and some 3/0 worm hooks, i was ready to spend the $60 they cost at walmart but they had one of the silver max with a tore up pack that was taped up for $45 so i got that one, got everthing for $90. lets see how i like it good thing about getting this from walmart is that i can return it if i dont like it and decide to get something lse i can just use my credit for hooks and end tackle and get a rod and reel from somewhere else
  22. so i got 2 for the abu and 1 for the pinnacle the pinnacle doesnt have a flipping switch, but has more bearings other than that they share similar specs, i dont know what to get
  23. I was at Dicks sporting goods today and they have some All star select 7' medium heavy and abu garcia revo s combos, they are normally $170 they have them discounted to $150 and they come with a $20 rebate so that total cost is $130 basically you buy the reel and get the rod for free. just wanted to let you guys know as i know some people may have gotten some Dicks gift cards
  24. if you had to choose between an Abu Garcia silver max or a pinnacle inertia finnese what would you choose? also any info on the walmart abu garcia ambassadeur tournament grade rods? they dont have them on the website
