  1. That is an awful experience. I actually caught a nice bass last week and while I was netting it, my son nearby asked me what the splash was, I looked down and my rod was not where I set it. Had my old Stradic FI on it, and we were lucky to fish it out of the reservoir since we anchored there and kept dropping rigs until we hooked something. Was an awful feeling I may never see it again. Thankfully my son hooked onto the cork handle (barely) and brought it up from the murky depths.
  2. Welcome back to the forum!
  3. Thought I'd throw these in here for reference. Both 1000 size. The CI4+ is today's Vanford, so I guess I can say I have one .
  4. Between my Stradic CI4+ and my Stradic HGFK the CI4+ is slightly smoother, and lighter. But both are darn smooth. Does that warrant the price difference? Probably not. Excellent reels any way you slice it.
  5. All I know is I'm grateful I can't afford one. Life is better when I'm only buying baits and not reels to replace my already good CI4+, and other Stradics. But all the vids I have watched, the Vanford is *sooo* nice. That said *cough cough* if I WERE to get one, I think I'd go for the 2000 or 3000 HGFA. The reels are smaller these days, and I've long been a fan and user of 1000 size Shimanos. So I think those would be very close to preferable for fresh and salt. For me.
  6. Went out with son #2 this weekend, Friday night saltwater, Saturday freshwater. Flounder (pic), about a 3 pound red, unfortunately no pic that was good. Saturday I caught 5 bass and this lovely crappie. 2 bass over 2 pounds, the rest under. Keitech micro-finess jigs and a TRD on a drop.
  7. At least it was floating ... and not attached to a body part. LOL
  8. Lions look like the NFC team most likely headed to the SB. Open for grabs in the AFC. I'm just glad my Bills Squished the Fish! (yeah, dolphins are mammals, but Mash the Mammals doesn't work well). Go Bills!
  9. Welcome aboard! Don't believe I had a 33, but I have had a number of closed face reels over the years. Favs were probably the underspin models. I've still got a number of them, haven't used in *years*, but they were fun and simple. These Abu Garcias were fun. My sons used them when they were much younger.

  12. Go Bills! We have to be better in first halfs! Can't have a half like that against the better teams and expect to win. Love the addition of Cooper, and Keon had some fantastic catches/runs.
  13. Looks like the deal is over. Just attempted and entered the discount code they offer on the listed site, no dice.

They look great. A little fatter than the shad-shape worm and with a Y tail. Accurate description? Looks like I may need to try them out.
  15. What's your opinion of Reel X oil/grease? I've just torn down two Spirex reels - and while I had to order some new parts since the boys have used them in salt, the Reel X so far is very nice. My guess from your previous response is to not overthink it.
  16. Nice bass in that pic! Welcome aboard! 🤙

  19. This, from Twitter (I hate calling it X).
  20. Welcome aboard, Jason! 🤙
  21. So I like to stage rods in front of me, laying down. I do have rod holders (PVC) behind me that can hold a number. Usually the three or four rods with various favored baits on them. I do like shorter rods, so that's something to consider. I ride a 12' Native Ultimate anything over 6'6" hangs off too far and when the wind kicks up and I'm close to cover...ugh.

I got shingles - also a mild case - about 2 years ago(?) Was handled with antibiotics and gabapentin. Tho it was mild, it was not fun. Had it under a pec and slightly around to the back. Doc at physical this week said I should still get the vaccine as it could yet again surface even tho I had a case once. So do not want that experience (shingles) ever again....

Lost my brother-in-law (eldest sister's hubby) to complications from Covid. I've been vaxxed, probably going to get another tomorrow at my yearly physical. No worries from me. I was vaxxed against a lot of diseases as a child...and so were most of us. 😎
  24. Only 20 years? Dude. 😂 Good on ya, @roadwarrior/Kent. Been a good ride. You deserve every bit of retirement you get. You've earned it all and then some. Senkos forever!
