Latest Catch Pics Thread
Went out with two of my sons yesterday late afternoon. Caught this lovely 4.5-4.75 pounder on a microjig hook (the skirt had come off) with a 4.75" Zoom finesse worm rigged wacky. She settled on the 4.75 mark on my Boga after calming down. Fought like a beast ripping drag off my Stradic 1000 with 10# PP and a 6# Gamma Edge Fluoro leader. Nerve-wracking as I caught her at a submerged laydown. Happy to be out on the water again.

If a bass boat and a kayak had a baby...
Those are sweet looking! Showed one of my sons and he immediately said "no way if it has a jet". We have relatives and friends who have experienced nothing but trouble with jet skis. Very $$ upkeep.

Heat Dome.
Not looking forward to the weather over the next week or so. Gonna be rough, especially with our ailing HVAC units. Heat is busted in both, downstairs AC works fine, it's the upstairs I'm worried about. It works stead at 69 degrees for some reason. Put the stat up to 70 or 71 and it will stop working for hours, so it stays at 69 (which is a joy to sleep in, wife and I like it cold). Not thinking so much of outdoor activities, though will inevitably do something 😄. I sure miss having a basement. No such joy in the Hampton Roads area, though you can find some in the Williamsburg and north regions. We're expecing heat indexes hovering at or over 105. 🥵

Welcome aboard, Doug! Used to work in Rochester for Rochester Telephone, which became Frontier, then bought by Global Crossing. Lots of great fishing in that area.

Bass boats stay out of canoe country!
Oh my goodness. That's crazy. When we were there, a couple times, I can't remember if they were holidays or just sometime in summer, there were plenty of patrols on the water. Tho there were some drunks, it wasn't as bad as you had it. At least where we were. 😂

Bass boats stay out of canoe country!
We visited Smith Mountain Lake a number of years ago, too. Pretty much the same, stayed close to shore, hit coves and near the big fishing dock. Such a cool lake....

I am officially a jig man.
Excellent catches! I enjoy a good jig bite.

Bass boats stay out of canoe country!
Video not showing, but I know the sentiment, which is one reason I try to stay out of gas-powered-allowed waters with my kayak. When we've vacationed at place like Lake Gaston, I stayed close to the shore at all times unless I had to cross water to the other side. Just too crazy out there. When my boys and I hit the York River her in VA, I do the same, keep close to shore. I've fished big docks alongside or near to big boats and they're often nice, but you can never take them for granted. Lots of alcohol being downed by boaters on the waters around here.
