  1. I like old school style. Daiwa TD-Z 103ML Daiwa Sol Daiwa Alphas Daiwa Pixy
  2. That's a Yozuri. Either 3DB or 3DR if I remember correctly. I like these lipless baits.
  3. I have the Enox Decoy. Great build quality, light and crisp, very sensitive. I've used it for T-rigged beaver style baits and craws, Dark Sleepers, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and buzzbaits. It's handled all very well.
  4. I only have one, an Enox Decoy. Fantastic rod, build quality is great. As the others said, call Alex. He is great to talk to and has no problems building a rod the way YOU want it built, even if it's just modifying one in their regular lineup.
  5. I love using mine for 1/8 oz t-rigged Christie Craws and Baby Brush Hogs. It also functions very well as a jerkbait rod.
  6. I was fishing a trap yesterday in a small pond when I snagged on something. When I pulled, it started giving way, so I pulled more. Pulled in this mess of line and decaying junk, as well as two traps! Chances are they are both mine, as I'm one of the few who fish this pond, but still!
  7. Have you considered the new Zillion TW HD? You can pick it up from Digitaka for under $300 right now. That reel should be fine for what you want to use it for.
  8. I just switched to a swept drag star and handle on my Alphas Ito 103L. I thought I swapped everything properly, but when I adjust the drag star, the handle becomes loose. Did I miss swapping a part, or put the drag star on too far or not enough, or something else? I haven't had this problem with other reels in the past. TIA, Dave
  9. I know people have rods that they swear by. A rod that if you broke it, you would start looking right away to buy the same model, if possible. What is that model to you. To me, its my Loomis MBR842C. My flat out favorite rod, and if, or more likely when, I break it, I will immediately be buying another.
  10. A couple years ago at a local fishing show, there was a guy that cut broken rods off just above the reel seat or the cork foregrip. He then inserted the business end of a flyswatter in to it and epoxied that in place. He called it "The Fly Rod". I love the one I have, most comfortable handle I've ever had on a flyswatter.
  11. UPDATE - It was NOT the clicking drag. Still not sure what it was, but after hearing it again fighting a fish yesterday, it almost sounded a bit like how braid can kind of sing through recoil guides. So I moved the reel from my NRX MBR842C to my Kistler Z-Bone, and all of a sudden, no noise! Maybe it was the line through the guides, but I've never heard mono do that, and it's never happened with any other reel on that rod.
  12. I fished my brand new Zillion G for the first time today. When I was fighting a fish, the drag literally made an awful screeching noise. I'm presuming this is not typical, considering I've read nothing but extremely high praise for this reel. Has anyone else had this problem, if so, is it easy to fix, or should I send it in for warranty repair? Thanks, Dave
  13. Thank you both, Bulldog and Fishtank! I have a G, will get to fish it for the first time tomorrow. I don't fish BFS, so will pass on the SW.
  14. How does the Silver Wolf compare to the Zillion G?
  15. Fenwick 6'10" Elite Tech Smallmouth MHMF with a Revo Winch
  16. Someone else mentioned it already, but years ago after Fenwick discontinued the Elite Tech Smallmouth line, I picked up a 6'10" MHMF casting rod for something like $55 from FFO. That thing, to me, anyway, is an absolutely perfect Whopper Plopper rod. Doesn't matter if I'm throwing the 75, 90, 110, or 130. It will launch them all, and once a fish is on, it stays on.
  17. Not sure about everywhere, but my local Ollie's has 1000 yd spools of smoke green Suffix Siege in 4, 6, and 8 lb test for $9.99.
  18. The last time I heard that sound was on our fourth wedding anniversary. My fiance knew I was a fishing fanatic when we got married. Before the wedding, she took me shopping for a new rod and reel as a wedding present. So more as fun, since she doesn't fish, I bought her a combo as well. As I said, she doesn't fish, but likes to ride along on the boat. She brings a small lawn chair to sit on the rear deck. The first time she actually brought her combo along was on our wedding anniversary. She laid it on the back deck, continued loading her stuff onto the boat, then accidentally set the lawn chair right on the rod and sat down. I knew without looking what that sound was. Even though I was tempted to buy her a St Croix Pearl Avid to replace it, I thought better and got the pink lady Ugly Stik. That was 8 years ago, and she's still never used it.
  19. This. I absolutely LOVE this rod, and if I ever broke mine, would immediately search for another. And yet sadly, I don't fish it that much any more.
  20. I gave my wife a Roomba for Christmas and she said it's the best Christmas present she's ever received. LOL!

  22. I was in Walmart several years ago as they were making down clearance items. They marked a pack of Strike King tungsten work weights down to $1.00. I stood there and waited while she marked all 25 packs down and took every one. Got a G Loomis MBR 842C GLX brand new for $200.
  23. Received a custom built ALX Enox rod last week. First fish I caught with it was 4 lb, this morning. Think I'm gonna like this one.
  24. I usually don't worry about split rings. I've only ever had one fail. I was throwing a Rattle Trap for stripers when a skate hit it. Better than 3 feet wingtip to wingtip. Fought it for like 10 minutes, it seemed. Just as I got it to the rocks, the trap came flying at me and the skate took off. The front split ring and failed and it and the treble hook were missing.
