Nice evening at the pond
Met up with Triton9 after we got home from school and rode our bikes 2 miles or so up to "Russel's" pond. This place is the definition of lunker factory, we don't usually catch a lot of fish but the ones we do catch are mules. Anyway, I had a dropshot rigged up with a 6" robo sculpin FX in aaron's magic/red flake on the 6'6" MH Loomis and 12lb fluoro. After about 30 minutes of throwing I got bit, set the hook, and then she took off through the thickest weeds she could find. I eventually got her in and looked to be about 4-4 1/4 lbs and she had a HUGE gut on her, not a giant but I was pleased. That was my only good fish of the evening, and if I'm not mistaken I believe T9 got the big goose egg for the evening ;D just messin with ya buddy 8-) Now if he could only figure out how to get the dang pics off his phone then I could show yall how she was...

What's your favorite Jig n trailor combo?
My favorite all round jig is a 3/8oz All-Terrain tackle head with a black/blue/brown skirt that I tie, add a straight blue paca chunk and it is a killer on shallow to mid depth bass.

Lake Pics.....Lets see your spot...
Back in 2004 Tropical storm Gaston dropped like 16' of rain on us in about 12 hours, it was to much for the dam to handle so it blew out and washed the road out too. The cost to fix the 40+ foot hole in the dam is in the $100,000's and the 6 people that live on the lake (including me) just can't afford it. Plus there is a legal issue going on with land ownership, it appears that some dirty son of #@%&^ snuck in and bought part of the dam right after it broke. He also owns 5 lots in the back of the lake and will not let us touch the dam until we give him water rights, which we offered to do as long as he paid for 1/2 of the costs, he refused. So now we are stuck with a mud hole for a lake.

Favorite Spinner Rod Rig
I don't really use spinning tackle at all anymore, but if I was I would use a super fluke with a small finishing nail inserted into the head for extra weight and a drop shot rig with a 6-inch roboworm FX sculpin worm

Lake Pics.....Lets see your spot...
Here's my homewater, aka Parsley's Mill Lake, it's about 50 acres and was my favorite place to fish... Until this happened... Here's a couple other places I go regularly... James river, Pony Pasture section Another shot Chickahominy river Another Rivanna River And Russel's pond (with T9 and the rod he busted on the hookset) There's a lot of other places too, like the Pamunkey river, Cavalry run pond, and lake chesdin but I don't have any good pics of those places.

Amazing weekend
This weekend will be 2 days that I will remember for a while... I fished a club tourney on Lake toano (aka little creek res.) in James city county and placed 3rd, which qualified me for the 6-man shootout on Lake Chesdin next weekend. I had one fish that went about 3.25lbs, which was actually pretty good considering the lake is a very tough fishery normally and it was down 6ft with crystal clear water. I had enough bites to win but I could not hookup, early in the morning I stopped at a main lake point and started fishing the channel swing when fish came up schooling, I threw my LC sammy 100 in the middle of it and it was instantly blown out of the water by a violent strike...I missed him. I was a little ticked to say the least, but then my partner caught the fattest 14" fish I have ever seen in my life (the dang thing had to be 2+lbs ) so that cheered me up a little bit, until they came up schooling again. I hurled my sammy to em again, and yet again it was blasted out of the water by one of the most explosive strikes I have ever seen, I waited a second, set the hook, saw a huge flash of green, and almost caught a sammy in the face...By now I was ready to break my rod in half, not only have I missed 2 fish already but they were GIANTS. Well, about 10 minutes later Triton9 comes by in his boat and I yell over to him about the schooling fish, so he gets the great idea to come over there with me and catches his first keeper not 30 yards away... > > > >...that ^*%$%... haha just kiddin about that, I don't mind people cutting me off and stealing my fish ;D After T9's catches his fish they start schooling again, so yet again I throw my sammy over there and half way back to the boat I see a wake, not a normal fish wake, but a huge extremely ticked off bass aiming to kill my poor sammy wake...what happened next can only be described as if a bomb went off under my bait, the sammy was blown about a foot out of the water and when it came back down the fish crushed it with another one of the most violent strikes I have ever seen. I set the hook and the fish took about 20 yards of drag in about 5 seconds and then came unbuttoned... After the 3rd time I was screaming and yelling and cursing...but after about 3 hours I calmed down and managed to miss 2 more nice fish before catching my keeper. It was a good experience though, and the best part is after the tourney I went over to a good friend's house on the upper James and put the hurtin on some nice brown bass...Today I woke up at 4:30 again and went to Lake Chesdin with T9 for a little practice and found some very good info and spots for the tournament next sunday, so I guess I had a pretty dang good weekend Sorry about the extremely long post guys, I guess I just like fishing a lot : here's my keeper, hit a 3/8oz double willow war eagle spinnerbait

Favorite Suspending Jerk Bait?
I use Husky jerks, x-raps, and rogue's on occasion, but my favorite and most productive is the Lucky Craft Pointer 100 and 78.

flys for bass
I do a lot of fly fishing, mostly for trout and bream but I do fly fish a couple ponds for bass. I use a 9' 6wt orvis rod and orvis battenkill reel, my top producing patterns are purple/blue dahlburg divers, olive/black woolly buggers, and clouser minnows in all colors. I also tie my own flies, mostly woolly buggers, clousers (I have my own variation of the clouser that I tie with deer hair and marabou, the action is awesome) and a few bream and trout patterns.

Garmin vs. Lowrance
Currently looking for a replacement depthfinder to go on the bow of the boat and I cannot decide whether to look at a Garmin or a Lowrance. I own 3 lowrances (2 X87's and an X96) and I especially like the X96, but I am very interested in the Garmin 160C. Mainly because I have heard very good things about Garmin and because the 160C is color and is only a couple $$$ more than an X96. what do yall think?

Pony Pasture, 9/15
Probably a striper.

HYPOTHETICAL "One lure for the rest of your life"
This guy has got the right idea, except for me it would be a black/blue jig... 8-)
-
Bad/Good evening..
It has a lifetime warranty, you send em $50 and they send you a brand new rod, no questions asked.
-
Pony Pasture, 9/15
Wow, I didn't know stripers came up that far. I might have to try'em come spring.

Fenwick vs Loomis vs Kistler Rods
Although I have a loomis now and am really starting to like it, I would have to go with the Kistler still. They just build some unbelievable rods at great prices.

GL2s or Avids???
I had an avid once, it was a custom built flipping stick on an avid blank, I hated it...I recently found a GL2 on sale for $100, so I bought it just because it looked like a really good deal, best $100 I ever spent. Although I have never used a factory avid, I would take the loomis over it any day.

Pony Pasture, 9/15
I was going for big fish, I don't use the standard light tackle, 6lb line, and tiny little baits that most people do. If I had used my UL I probably would have caught more but they would have been about the size of my finger, I would much rather use a 3" tube and catch 8 or 10 nice 12+ inch fish than 15 little bite size things. Plus, a 15" fish is a good one for the Pony Pasture, although I have seen a 5lber come out of there

wood crankbaits
Bagley and lee sisson produce for me year round, but my favorite crank for winter fishing is the original wooden rapala shadrap.
