  1. I cannot find Evergreen tackle's official website for the life of me, so does anybody know what it is?
  2. The old curados were probably the best casting reel for bass of their time IMO, I know have two of the new Citica's and absolutely love them. The retrieve is silky smooth, cast a weightless trick worm a mile, and the drag is awesome, I have zero complaints about them. Maybe you just got a defective one or something...
  3. I use the same offset hooks that I would use with any other techniques. I just take a look at the size of the worm I am going to use and match the hook size to that, a 4" worm would require a 1/0 hook and a 6" worm would take a 2/0 etc.
  4. I believe those are the Lucky Craft Real California series baits.
  5. I use the Graphite Plus series, which is the Kistler baseline and that is why I am so impressed with it. The rod is simply amazing and outperforms many rods I have used that cost twice as much, I assure you the MG will be everything you need and want in a rod.
  6. Wow some nice fat fish ya got there, and the second fish has some really nice markings. That lake looks just like Claytor lake over in Pulaski in Western VA, I love fishing lakes like that
  7. Kistler, no question about it. I have a 7' MH Kistler that I use for flipping, pitching, jigs, t-rigs, and weightless plastics. I love the rod, it is very light, extremely sensitive, has more than enough backbone, and is just a great rod all around. I highly reccomend Kistler rods to anyone. And braid can be used with no problem.
  8. I think Raul has been reading my wishlist
  9. A pool cue for cranks ? :-? A Heavy action flipping stick is a pool cue, a MH rod with a nice soft tip is not a pool cue. Plus a MH rod can handle the larger 1/2-3/4oz baits much better than a medium action rod. Now if you are talking about throwing a Bandit 100 series or any other small or medium sized crank then yeah a Medium action rod will perform better with those baits. But after listening to Rick Clunn and KVD talk about how they use MH rods for a lot of their treble hook baits I started doing it and I haven't lost a fish due to my rod choice yet. That's just my opinion.
  10. Go for it, if Redfish will bite jalapeno's then I don't see why at least one stupid bass wouldn't eat a twizzler
  11. I also have only used Tika rods for surf and lighter saltwater fishing and they were pretty good rods for the money.
  12. Casting: Shimano Citica, $100 Team All-Star rod, $80-$100 depending on where you get it. Spinning: Shimano Symetre, $75 new on ebay Shimano Clarus rod, $70

I'm just like grimlin, I live and die by the jig. My favorite for deepwater fishing is a 1/2oz Jewel Heavy cover finesse jig, I put a baby brush hog on it as a trailer and drag ti and hop it around any deep structure I can find. I also do a lot of dropshotting, especially in the colder months. I use 8lb fluoro and a small roboworm or BPS handpour DS worm.
  14. wow man you got one heck of a deal on that thing, they look sweet but I'll stick to my Shimano curado's and chronarch mg's ;D
  15. Or you can texas rig a ZOOM speed craw or sweet beaver with a heavy 1/2-1 1/2oz tungsten weight and punch right through the weeds with it, this is known as flipping. This is my favorite technique and I have caught some serious hawgs doing it. Give it a try, but you do need at least a Medium Heavy action rod and I would suggest 30-50lb braided line.
  16. Yeah we fished Holt creek and the Cumberland thorofare downriver, didn't get a single bite in any of those creeks even on the tail end of the outgoing tide and the incoming tide. I caught 2 keepers on the bank that is the first bend downriver from Williams paralleling the grassline with a war eagle spinnerbait but that was it all day. I've had a fare amount of success in that river over the last 2 years, but it gets brutal during the heat of the summer. I catch twice as many fish in the fall and winter there than I do in the summer. We fished Chickahominy lake today and managed 4 nice 1.5-2lbers and some dinks, and my dad lost a nice 4lber at the boat. I caught my fish on a t-rigged sweet beaver pitched to cypress trees when the tide was in, but during the outgoing I fished a 4.5" roboworm with a 1/16oz weight along the grasslines. My dad caught his fish on a 5" Berkley finesse worm. And when we were taking the boat out my dad talked to another guy who said he lost a 7lber at the boat and it was his only bite of the day. I hear that ;D
  17. I HIGHLY suggest a Medium Heavy casting rod for these applications, because a casting rod will give you much more power for using larger baits and more leverage when fighting a fish, I reserve spinning rods for light line/small bait tactics. And if you don't like casting reels or aren't very good with them I really urge you to pick one up and get good with it. But if you are set on a spinning rod then try a 6'6" or 7' Medium Heavy spinning rod that has an extra fast tip.
  18. We got the trolling motor fixed finally!!!!!! There wasn't even anything wrong with the motor it was a just a short in the stupid battery charger that was tripping the circuit breaker...but yeah we got that fixed and went out on the Pamunkey for a few hours yesterday, caught 2 fish early on a spinnerbait just down from Williams, then went downriver to the thorofare and Holts Creek and didn't get another bite all day...That river drives me nuts sometimes.
  19. Probably small shad, and bringing a MH action casting rod with heavy line for all of the huge gar in there wouldn't be a bad idea either. I usually toss em a big jerkbait or live shad, works like a charm
  20. nice fish, and I love the truck 8-)
  21. Thanks guys, I'm gonna go with the Stradic.
  22. I have narrowed my search for a new spinning reel down to these two reels, I know these two are comparable models. One being the JP version and one being the US version. But I need to know which one is "better" or which one gives you more bang for your buck? Thanks.
  23. It can be a VEEEERY frustrating river sometimes, but when you get on em you can catch em reel good
  24. The one's in the magazine are the older model accurist I'm pretty sure...
  25. the base Stradic is a step-up, and then the stradic MgFa is a step-up from that. So it's a pretty pricey reel at retail price... I think I'm gonna buy it and then mount it on the new Dobyn's 6'8" spinning rod I'll be getting for my birthday in a couple weeks 8-)
