horrific accident...
I witnessed a horrible accident last night while out cruising with my brother. We pulled up to the intersection in front of my high school and we noticed a big SUV turning left to go down Lee-Davis road, then we saw the truck... A red Dodge Dakota blew the red light and was broadsided by the SUV, the front of the SUV was completely torn off and the whole passenger side of the truck was destroyed. After they hit the truck began to roll and ended up upside down in the middle of the intersection and was about 1 foot away from landing on top of a Ford Taurus stopped at the light... A couple minutes later the cops and the ambulances got there and they got the two guys out of the truck, the driver of the truck was OK, however I never saw the passenger move at all, even when they put him on the stretcher he never moved or said anything... Very scary when it plays out right in front of you, you get one of those helpless feelings...I just pray that everybody made it out OK

Pamunkey River, 11/17
Thanks guys, and I think I'm on to something with these finesse jigs I've been making. Since I made a small change in my design, I have caught the 2 biggest fish I've ever caught out of the Pamunkey on em.

clear water....what line
Fluorocarbon, it's almost invisible and has greater sensitivity and less stretch than mono.
-
Back to bass....i guess?????
Wow that fish looks a LOT bigger than 2-11

Pamunkey River, 11/17
Oh yeah, as soon as the water dips below 60 degs. it's like the flood gates open and the smallmouth and spots come down river. They don't get very big though, most of the spots we catch are nonkeepers. On the other hand, I have seen smallmouth as big as 4lbs come from the Pamunk.

Pamunkey River, 11/17
Well I got a call back from the hospital yesterday and found out that I don't have a stress fracture in my spine!!!! So that gave me the OK to fish... I was intending on fishing the upper James for smallmouth from a private ramp on the "rich section" that I got permission to use, but the guy was out of town so I couldn't go there. So I decided to just hit the Pamunkey, and it didn't turn out to bad. Caught 9 in all, 6 keepers and 3 short fish. My 6 fish came on a green pumpkin ZOOM finesse worm on a dropshot rig and one of my homemade finesse jigs in watermelon/brown. My dad's 3 fish all came on a green pumpkin ZOOM trick worm on a shaky head. Here's a couple of the better fish... First fish, hit the dropshot My dad's nice one Biggest of the day, hit my finesse jig Last keeper, also on DS

life situation (vent)
Hey guys, I apologize for my vent in advance, I am not looking for anybody to feel sorry for me or anything like that. I just need to say some things... Lately I have that feeling like my life is falling apart. I've been in a big slump in baseball since the end of summer, school isn't going great to say the least, and to top off all of my other personal problems I found out last night that my girlfriend for the last year and 10 months doesn't want to see me anymore... I may be only 16 but I felt like I really loved this girl and I don't see how you can throw away something that meant so much for so long that abruptly. And it just came at a really really bad time... I'm a mess right now and all I really want to do is go fishing, but due to a tight budget that is gonna have to wait... Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Southeast offseason (Va)
There is no offseason for me, even during hunting season (gun season opens saturday!!!! ) I hunt on weekdays and fish on the weekends. This works out perfect for me because I get to hunt all week long and then I get to go catch loads of smallmouth during the best time of year to catch em in the tidal rivers 8-)

Anybody try a GYCB Hula Grub on a shakey head?
Oh yeah, a GYCB Hula Grub on a 1/4oz. Dave's rockhopper jighead is deadly on smallmouth and spotted bass.

GL2 vs GL3
I have not used a GL3, but I have 2 GL2's and love em. Excellent rod for the money.

cost of running a bass boat
waaaaay to much... :-/ I run a 150 but the EFI sucks gas like no other, and not to mention the oil I use is about $22-24 per gallon now. ...there's no end to it

BPS brand plastics
Like T9 said, I've done very good on the BPS Stik-O's and they are much more cost effective than any other senko type bait IMO. $4 for a pack of 25 8-)
-
fish id
Most likely a Peacock bass, could be some kind of hybrid like LBH said though
-
dropshot hook
I usually just use a regular Owner 1/0 offset worm hook and it works fine.

Nice fish, catching a new pb is always great!!! She's got a big head on her, I bet in the spring she'll weigh closer to 6lbs.

Lake Osbourne 11/06
Nice fish man! I fish Osbourne every April when I go down to FL during spring break and it has been very good to me. Last year I caught 4 fish that went 4+lbs and 2 definite 5lbers, and that was just off the bank.

Finesse Fishing, Why spinning gear?
I really don't use spinning tackle at all, even when finesse fishing. I use my 6'6" MH Loomis GL2's for most finesse tactics, the only time I break out the "fairy stick" is when I'm throwing extremely light baits with really light line.
