  1. No shortage of sqirrels, armadillos, coyotes, deer, wild hogs, possums, coons, snakes, or gators. A Redneck buffet out there.
  2. Seriously looks like the monster from Alien.
  3. Pork frogs. Just found some new old stock. I was almost out.
  4. Does weightless t rig trickworm count?
  5. I fish to get away from people. I manage 50+ people- mostly women- and deal with the public... Occasionally my wife goes or one of my kids if they are here. My one fishing buddy is into catfish with bait lately, trying to catch a monster. Not my cup of tea. I can take the kayak out after work, or fish rip rap from shore.
  6. I picked up a Daiwa, Ozark, American Rodsmith MH 6 ft baitcasters all for $35. Good for kayak fishing with their fairly short handles.
  7. I posted this on another post, but I am psyched to find these, and on sale, no less!
  8. Found these at a small town Walmart for $2.
  9. Sometime you should try a popper on a fly rod. It can be a blast. Here are some simple flies I tie.
  10. Here are some I tied while I was home with Bronchitis.
  11. Love fishing a horny toad! Don't forget a Salad Spoon, (bottom two baits in pic).
  12. Yes, I have no trouble with 8 lb on spinning. Had problems with smaller braid digging in on BC.
  13. I use 8 lb fire line on spinning rods, +/- swivel and leader. 65 lb powerpro on BC, +/- leader. I fish in a lot of cover, particulate lilly pads
  14. I just bought one of these. I think I am going to love it in my kayak. I am Trying one box for Top water, one for mid column, and one for bottom baits. Having fun stocking it.
  15. Yes. However, you can use a vice grip that is held with a shop vice in a pinch (pardon the pun). Be sure to use super glue or nail polish on your wraps. You need to use half hitches or whip finish to tie off, and then glue.
  16. Ditch the leader when you can. I have been using the Alberto knot to leader around rip rap, and I like it. I sometimes also use a 4 turn surgeon's knot on the water, as it is easy to tie.
  17. I use 65 lb power pro on BC and 8 lb Berkley fireline on spinners. Maxima Mono leader for shallow stuff, yo zuri fluro leader for deep in clear water. Straight braid when I can get by with it, which is almost always in our stained and muddy water.
  18. Check out the discount fishing tackle sites. There are several. You can sometimes get lucky and get crankbaits for half off, bulk deals, etc.
  19. Most animals will try to steal food as that takes less energy than hunting and chasing. Even pets will try to steal food , as will some office workers.
  20. I believe that first statement might indicate a lapse in memory. The older I get the better I was! Seriously, this heat is no joke. In MS, we got heat, humidity, Alligators, water moccasins, the West Nile virus and Encephalitis virus laden mosquitoes (that's why we're crazy) Brain eating Amoeba in the lake if you get the water up your nose, jet skiers and Deliverance type rednecks. But those guys in Louisiana really have wrose heat, more reptiles, etc. (Not trying to one up Catt). But we'll both be fishing hard all winter, just about!
  21. Good video. The only criticism was there were no Alligators.
  22. DSG is still my favorite
  23. Somewhat complicaqted, though.
  24. I think scents mask human odor. I think they probably give the angler a second or two more to set the hook. Kind of like aftershave helps you not to be disgusting, but it won't really grab anyone for you.
