  1. I use fireline on my UL spinning rods. I like it a lot. Caught it on sale at DSG, so I bought it. Once I find something I like I become pretty brand loyal. Unless there is a great sale! I use Power Pro on my BC.
  2. Yeah, I usually T rig, weightless to 3/8 0z, and start with a Trickworm. I have Anacondas, Ol Monsters, U Vibe, U tale, Fat Max, etc. Try to find something they want.
  3. Cover top, middle and bottom of water column. One slow technique and one fast technique each depth. Dark, light, and colorful. That is 18 lures/techniques.
  4. I am sorting my tackle and discovered that I have 11 different worm types in June bug color. I have a lot of faith in the color and got almost every worm shape I could find. When I first started, an old man at church told me June Bug was THE color. So I figured, in my simple minded way, that all I had to do was figure out the shape they wanted that day. I am not sure if this makes me a color freak, or if it means color doesn't matter to me. Does anyone else employ this strategy?
  5. Another take on color is the way fly tyers do: you tie light, dark and "gaudy," in each pattern. Maybe the lure you have is a "gaudy" one.
  6. My understanding is that the braid used on a BC rod should be equal the diameter of the mono the rod is rated for. Is that correct? For instance, if the rod is rated 10-30 lb line, and my 65 lb braid is roughly that thickness, would it be okay?
  7. I have switched from fluro to Yo Zuri hybrid.
  8. Yes. Was a life guard. Always wear my pfd. I have an inlatable I wear in hot weather and a regular one during cooler weather. One thing I do in my kayak is have my pliers, boomerang, etc all attached to my pfd. That way I have to wear it, and I always have what I need.
  9. I can't tell a lot of difference between them as far as casting and hanling. My fly rods are mostly 4 piece. I have a 3 pc Fenwick spinning rod that I like and a TS BPS BC that I like okay.
  10. I had some z-man minnowz and some zinker z I had cut in half take a set. When I boiled them they got worse. Any tricks? I am not sure the cause, as I had other zinkerz and TRDs stored in the same type binder bags with no issues.
  11. This summer you won't be jealous when its 100'F and 85% humidity for a solid couple months.
  12. If you don't mind the price, Simms rain jacket. Waders
  13. I am getting a stash of older stuff. Picked up some old plugs antiquing with my wife. I always look for antique tackle/lures and tools.
  14. I hear ya. I will have only been married 24 yrs this year. Still learning.
  15. Doing my honey do list so she won't mind me going later. Don't you hate hearing, "before you go, could you..." I also reorginize my tackle and spend time at BPS, DSG, Walmart, Academy looking for deals and inspiration.
  16. Ice is something that goes in a glass. In the South this cold snap will not last, so I will wait it out until this weekend when the low is 54.
  17. Haven't used the others, but I love the Mojo rod that I use. It is my favorite.
  18. I like to use a fly rod on top when they are shallow. Anyone else?
  19. A Berkley Lightening Shock with a Pfluger or BPS reel is a good start if you just want something to try. They are good, especially for the money. Also look at Bass Pro combos. I caught a bunch on Tourney Special rods before I upgraded. Still use them. I have a St Croix Mojo Bass in your price range, that I love. I think Pfluger has a great reel for the money. So if you are looking for long term investment in a reasonable set up, I suggest St. Croix Mojo Bass MH with a Pfluger President. I think cheaper, low end reels will drive you crazy! And I recommend braid to start with, 50 lb.
  20. I have really tried to catch them platics with no glitter, with no luck and immediately started catchin on ones with glitter when I changed.. May be a confidence issue.
  21. I have some Okumas that I have caught everything from Blues in the Salt to Salmon and Bass. No issues ever. I had a low end Abu break in half just below the bail wire. I loved my Pfluger until I dumped it into the reservoir by accident.
  22. I love my Pfluger Supreme. Cannot speak to the other one. Pflugers are work horse reels.
  23. I looked back at my fishing log, such as it is, and realized I caught most of my Bass using soft plastics with glitter. Mostly Candy Bug or Junebug. I fish in murky to muddy water. Admittedly, I mostly fish with plastics with glitter. So, do you guys think the glitter catches fish or fishermen?
