  1. I try not to let all the hype get to me as far as what the pros use. I have had better luck on the chartreuse sexy shad color, but I fish more stained water. I prefer the Red Eye shad because of it's action. I have found over the years that colors can make a difference, but other things factor in also.
  2. Big bass are taken all the time through the ice. Here in Wisconsin we start fishing the first open water we can find. You may have to fish slower or even change your tactics a little, but every opportunity is a great one! 8-)
  3. My son has the HB 798c SI and he loves it. HB also alows you to update the software in your unit and now have the downward imaging available for update. The only thing you have to do to get updates is register the unit. I have always prefered Lowrance over HB because of a problem I had with one of their paper graphs. I believe HB tried side imaging in the past with the old SideFinder. They seem to have alot of the bugs worked out. Lowrance and HB will always be competing against each other, so I'm sure will keep seeing new things in the future.
  4. Are H2O XPRESS baits made just for Acadamy sport? My son bought some frogs on eBay and says they are great. I looked up Acadamy Sport on the web and couldn't find any H2O frogs. Am I looking in the wrong place? :'(
  5. 1/4 ounce beetlespin in purple with split tail painted red.
  6. I don't remember who made them, but I bought a couple of surface baits that were made of rubber. They were really bad. We still laugh about them when they show up in one of the grand kids tackle box. ;D
  7. If I had to pick, I would have to go with senco and carolina rig. I know they produce, but there are other methods I would go to first. I guess it's a matter of preferance.
  8. Welcome to the best forums you could ever find!
  9. Chance of low 40's by end of week. Convertable tops will go down. 8-)
  10. Welcome, this is the best site you'll find!
  11. The only muskie bait I can think of similar to the manta jerk bait is the old Suick sucker. They made a 4 or 5 inch version for bass. I don't know if it's still available.
  12. I just bought a STX-20 at Gander Mountain for $78. I couldn't believe it. They said it was because they were moving slow. My son and I bought the last 3 they had. I love the 20, but the 10 is probably the size your looking for.
  13. The baitmonkey loves the northwoods this time of year. Cabin fever is coming to a peak and the baitmonkey smells blood. ;D I found a Soron XTS at a price I couldn't pass up. The bad thing is now I need another rod. I've done some re-stocking of plastics and added a couple of crankbait colors I didn't have. If the HARD WATER doesn't leave soon, I'll go nuts!!!

Would like some info on what everyone is using. Single or double hook? I've only used single hooks and would like to try a double. Can't find to many places to buy them and when I do, they are kind of pricey.
  15. Here in Wisconsin, there's not to many months we fish when its not snowing! ;D Got cabin fever BAD!!
  16. They used to sell what they called "buzz gears" for the Ambassadeur 5000. I still own a few old Ambassadeur reels and even have a couple sets of buzz gears laying around. If I can find them, I will get back to you. There is also a guy I know that repairs only Ambassadeur reels. Chuck Brod The Sportsman's Repair Shop Mosinee, WI 1-715-693-6634 he also has a web site
  17. I've seen it used as a sent by Lake Michigan fishermen when Salmon fishing. I don't believe it was ever meant to be a lubricant, just a water displacing solvent.
  18. I accidentally found them on the web and was wondering if anyone knows about or have used their rods? F-series $65 Buy 1 get 1 free M-series $100 Buy 1 get 1 free acadiasports.com
  19. Red Eye Shad Clackin Rap Rat-L-Trap
  20. BPS, Cabelas, and Gander Mountain all have good tackle bags. The one I got is from GM and is made by Flambeu. It holds 6 large boxes in the main compartment and 3 medium boxes on the sides. It also has a couple extra compartments for small stuff. I really like it but it's filling up fast. My son got his at Cabelas. It holds 8 large boxes in the main compartment. I guess the size doesn't matter, cuz we're gonna fill em up anyway. I paid $59 for mine on sale.
  21. Back in the day, when they were called casting reels, Supreme was Pfluegers' top of the line as I remember. I think they were trying to bring back the name. I own a Pflueger President and I bought my son a Trion. They are both nice reels and work fine. I found a seller on eBay (simmons sporting goods) that had a great deal on Quantum Accurist PTs, brand new in the box for $60 each. I like them better then my Pflueger.
