Lure Modification?
What is the best way to heat up a bill on a crankbait without damaging the bait? I used a cig. lighter to heat up where the bill meets the bait and it turned it black. I don't think it will effect the bait any, it just don't look good. Would putting the nose of the bait in boiling water be a better option?

What frog do you use?
Spro used to be my favorite until an Academy opened up in Decatur. I use their H20 Xpress Frogs. Built just like spro but half the price.

What seasonal pattern?
I have not fished in a few weeks until today. We have been have air temps in the 80's. Today I went out and the air temp was around 78 but the water temp was 68. The water levels appeared to be almost 5' lower than 3 weeks ago. I have really never fished this time of year and I am lost. I am going to go next Saturday. This coming week the air temps will be 80 until Friday. Friday and Saturday the highs will be in the 60's. Can someone give me some advice? Thanks

Battery Brand Advice
I have to replace a battery. As of right now I have 3 blue top d34 m optimas. They have been on my boat for at least 5 years. I have it narrowed down to the Sears Die Hard Plat or another Blue top Optima. The die hard is $189 and the Blue top is $204. Anyone have any suggestions.

Pin Oak Lake, Lexington TN
I am going on a week vacation to Natchez Trace Park and was wondering how the fishing is at Pin Oak Lake?
-
How long would it take for a blue top optima to run down?
Will an extra 1.5 amp bilge pump drain a blue top optima battery during an 8 hour fishing day? All of the electronics on the boat (except for trolling motor) is wired into this battery.

Edge vs Maxxum
I purchased the edge due to the money difference. I have hit a few stumps and it holds up pretty well. I have fish 2 -3 trips without charging batteries and it still runs strong. I know the maxxum is a better setup but I could not afford it at the time of purchase.

Livewell Question
I have purchased an 88 model astroglass and it has about 20 gallon livewell. I have 2 switches on the panel and 1 says aerator and the other one says livewell controll center. The valve that controlls the water in or out is broke so it is always open. I can shut the livewell off by just plugging the bottom for the time being. My problem is that both switches pump in fresh water. It does not appear that either switch will just aerate the water that is already in the livewell. I have a tournament and or temps are close to 100 degress everyday. My question: Would it be better to keep pumping in fresh water, or would it be better to just treat the water once since pumping in fresh water will be hot water? I plan on icing the water, using please release me, and I also was going to use about 5 ozs of 3%hydrogen peroxide. Thanks

Surface Temp in 90+
My fishing time is between 6pm and midnight. The baits I have tried are as follows: Crig, Trig, Jig, Senos, shakey head with various plastics, crankbaits (I am not good with these), spinnerbaits, and all types of topwater. 1 of the fish I have caught came off of topwater before dark under a bridge where the fish were schooling. They were schooling like crazy and blowing up on the surface and I still only managed 1 fish. They are chasing shad that are about 1" long and I really don't know what to throw. 1 of the fish came off a hump in about 8' of water with a crawdad type bait on crig. the biggest fish was 3lb12oz off a shakey head in about 4' of water in some weeds. I hope this gives you all an idea of what I have been doing. Thanks once again for a great site.

Surface Temp in 90+
I fish Lake Wilson in North Alabama and the surface temp is well above 90 degrees. I have struggled my last few outings with only 3 fish for 4 trips. I have fished ledges, humps, docks, weeds, bridge pilings, rip rap, and points. I don't recall struggling this much last year and I stayed in water less than 15'. I have a tournament this week and as of right now I don't have the confidene that I will even have 5 fish. Any advice or suggestions to help get me out of the slump.

Boat quits running on half tank of fuel.
Thanks for the reply about the pickup. That is what I was thinking. I took the top part of the plate off where the fuel comes from but I could not get it out to inspect the pickup line. I had too much gas in the tank to get a good look at it. I will investigate after I run the tank down to half again.

Boat quits running on half tank of fuel.
I just purchased a 1988 Astroglass 178v. The previous owner told me the gas gauge on the tank and on the dash work but it is empty at half tank. The other day it happened, my gauge was showing half tank and the boat died. I had a friend bring me 3 gallons of gas so I could make it back to the ramp. On my next outing I was just going to fill up the tank and it would only hold 11 gallons of fuel. So I asked my fishing partner and he told me the tanks in the bass boats are at least 20+ gallons. I found a plate on my tank and it said 25 gallon capacity. So I am thinking the the gauge is correct it is just not picking up the bottom half of gas. Any suggestions on what could be going on. Thanks

Trolling Motor Wiring 24 volt Advice needed
Thanks for the reply. I am not smart when it comes to elctrical things. One more question. Do the batteries have to be connected from the pos to the neg and vice versa?

Trolling Motor Wiring 24 volt Advice needed
I just purchased a boat and had to put a new trolling motor on the boat. I installed a minnkota 70lb thrust edge 24 volt. I have 3 wires coming from the plug up front. 2 red wires and 1 black wire and all three wires go into 3 different circuit breakers. From circuit breaker 1 a red wire goes in and comes out of breaker and goeas to the positive side of battery 1. From circuit breaker 2 a red wire goes in and comes out of breaker and goes to the positive side of battery 2. From circuit breaker 3 a black wire goes in and comes out of breaker and goes to the negative side of battery 1. A black wire is connecting the two batteries from the negative on battery 1 to the positive of battery 2. I am not for sure if this is wired correctly for 24 volts. Advice needed. Thanks

Favorite jig to use
I have just recently started using jigs. I have had a ton of success on Strike King Bitsy Bug 1/4 0z and 3/16 oz. I have been using a sappire blue swimming chunk as the trailer and I have caught a ton of fish. I caught a 3lb smallmouth on a black one with a blue trailer yesterday. It seems easier to get the fish hooked with these smaller jigs.
