  1. I fished the jika rig the other night and caught 6:1 bass to my buddy fishing a Texas rig with the same bait. The very next night I fished the jika rig and got out fished about 3:1. Just a different presentation. Don't pigeon hole yourself to just 1 like I do most of the time. I do think it is a great way to show the fish something a little different. I would say that the majority of fishermen have never used this technique. Probably going to be real good on high pressure lakes.
  2. I use vicious fluor on my jig and worm setups for the last year and the sensitivity is awesome. I have had some break offs on hook sets at the knot but I feel that was my lack of knot tying skills. The memory is real bad but that is something I am willing to deal with because of The positives of the line. Try it and give it a few trips before you say yes or no to it. The first time I tried it I hated it because of the memory.
  3. It is graphite. It will launch crank baits a mile. It feels great and handles the medium cranks and square bills real well. I threw some deep divers today and it does a decent job on deep cranks. I am going to play with a little more before I give it a positive or negative review. As of right now it has been the best one that I have tried for an all around cranking rod. Not sure if it will be a good deep crank rod. Will keep everyone posted.
  4. Just purchased a veritas winch series. Felt great at the store with a reel on it. Will test out tomorrow on pickwick. Thanks for all the replies
  5. I am looking to purchase a cranking rod for deep divers like 6xd and dd22. My budget is about $100. I had a 7'10" skeet reese an didn't like it. I also had a 7' Rick clunn that I didnt like. Not sure if I didn't like it because they were glass or what. They just never felt right. The rods will be paired up with a lews reel 5.4:1 gear ratio. Thanks
  6. Got my line in and I have fished a few times. My first impressions are: It is a very smooth line and the strength is unbelievable. However, the sensitivity of FC is so much more. The stretch of the yozuri was a lot as well. I am not going to give up on it. Going to give it more time and see if I can get used to it. Thanks for all the replies
  7. Awesome. Kinda what I was thinking. Thanks
  8. I fish a small club tournament every Thursday night. It starts at 530 and ends at 930. Here lately I have had a difficult time getting 5 in the boat. I feel so rushed and I continue cycling through all of my baits. With a tourney this Short what would be a Good strategy to get a limit?
  9. 3/0 if only choosing one. I have caught fish on finesse worms and 10" worms on a 3/0 because I was in a pinch.
  10. I use braid for my poppers. However, my rod is a medium action for my poppers.
  11. I just ordered some so I will give a report of why I think at the end of the week.
  12. Done a lot of searching and found a knot called LFT knot. I have tried it the last couple of days on an offset hook and i like it a lot. It is a snell knot but he ties it a different way. Thanks for all the replies.
  13. I have been using vicious 100% fluorocarbon for the last year. I really like it due to the sensitivity and less stretch than mono. After reading all the reviews on here about yozuri I want to try some. My question is: how does the sensitivity of yozuri hybrid compare to 100% flurocarbon? I have never used a copolymer line before. Thanks
  14. Got to love autocorrect on iPhone.
  15. As a straight shank hook and a snell knot.
  16. Does an offset hook with a snell knot have the same advantages as a straight shank hook?
  17. There is a Relay for life tournament out of McGarland Saturday. I believe it is $50 and from 6-2. Not sure what kind of payout other than prizes.
  18. I would love to come down one day and fish. I can not afford to take off work more than one day. I only live about 2.5 hrs away and I have never fished guntersville. Any seat openings still available? Would only be able to stay and fish one day.
  19. I do not use spinning reels much at all. I have an old one that I can't stand and I am going to purchase a new one this weekend. I will be fishjng hair jigs and maybe dropshot with this setup. It will not be fished all that much. What is would be the best size 100, 200, or 300 series?
  20. Is a 1/8th size the best to start with?
  21. What are the advantages, if any, for a Tennessee handle spinning rod?
  22. That's a good idea.
  23. Thanks that was a good video.
