  1. Scatter Rap? Rapala must have come up with this idea when the lips of their DT's broke off. Just kind of scatters back to the boat with another $8.00 bait down the drain. Very disappointed with Rapala so I really don't care what they come out with. You would have thought they would have corrected the issue with the DT's but apparently they don't care about their customers. They have figured out the new business model in this country: Sell all you can and screw the customers.
  2. Just getting everyone's opinion on pitching rod lengths. Do you prefer the longer 7' to 7'6" rods? Do some of you use 6'6" rods for pitching? I seem to pitch better with 6'6" rods. I know the longer rods will help you with the hookset sometimes. Let me know.
  3. I love Silver Threads Excalibur copolymer. I have used it for years and can't find many flaws with it. I use it for most of my setups.
  4. I am convinced that Gun Scrubber is the best bearing cleaner out there. It is basically the same formula that Reel Scrubber used to be with a slight increase in 1 of the 2 solvents used according to the MSDS sheet. I usually spray a small amount in a shot glass and soak the bearings. I have better success with it than with acetone.
  5. How about wives? my mistake......ooppsss wrong forum for that! LOL
  6. Most of the docks they were pitching to had a lot of weeds so I think the beaver style baits were a better choice to penetrate the cover. Baits with a wide profile and a lot of appendages have a better chance of getting hung up on the cover.
  7. I don't know.....If you get the C4 it will probably only last a hundred years...LOL.....I think the C4 would be a great choice for muskies. It's a workhorse.
  8. Gambler, you are as sick as I am! I can't get this stuff off of my mind either!
  9. Before buying a couple, just wanted to know if any of you have used the Veritas for pitching jigs and plastics. Are you using medium/heavy or heavy action? Thanks for any info.
  10. Yep, for $80.00 on sale these are great reels. An absolute steal......I used to fish with them and upgraded to higher end Abu's and Shimano's just because I could, not because the PQ's weren't performing.
  11. OH COME ON LAG!!!! Just kidding....I really appreciate it when someone makes a mistake and admits it even though this wasn't a big deal. Thanks for giving us the real scoop. I have been looking to go with the micro guides on my pitching setups so I might still get them. Thanks and nothing wrong with making a mistake. Guess you are human.
  12. Yeah, I was just having fun about the Shimano thing Gambler. I know you love the Shimano's. I like them also but I am liking the 3rd generation Abu's a lot.
  13. Scorching and damage? Must just be on Shimano's LOL......I'm with RM on this one, I've never seen this either and I work on reels too.
  14. Just ordered the Lowrance Elite 5X DSI color fishfinder. It's crazy the price ranges I found on this unit. They varied from $549.00 down to $289.00.....Guess which one I bought? Even BPS, Cabelas and TW were high compared to the $289.00. The $289.00 also had free shipping. And it is a legitimate source. (I have ordered from them before) It pays to look around. I can't wait to actually see some of the detailed structure that I have been missing. Do any of you guys have this unit? If so, what do you think of it?
  15. I like the Snack Daddy Elite Tubes....They are a little thicker at the head, which gives it a slightly larger profile.
  16. Well, I tell my wife I need at least 20 different rod & reel combos just so I can buy more stuff. I think she is starting to get suspicious.....I only use about 8 but I must keep upgrading to keep the economy going!
  17. Bassmasters / FLW Outdoors
  18. You have no idea. I'm dying already! It snowed here in central Indiana for the 1st decent snow of the season....It sucks...I sit in my boat in the garage and look over my fishing gear and can't hardly stand it. I guess I'll have to hang around the house with the wife this winter.....Booooo!!!! I'm glad she isn't on this website.
  19. I bought 2 of the Revo S spinning reels and have only used them about 4 times due to having to winterize my boat. (I live up north) But so far I have been very impressed. Very smooth. The reels only came out about 3 months ago, so the durability will take some time to see how that goes.
  20. I just bought some but haven't tried it yet. I looked at the MSDS sheet and it is Paraffinic Oil. (mineral oil) It should be somewhat like Shimano Bantam Oil.
  21. I received the 20% off coupon in my e-mail. I think to receive one you have to have ordered through them before. It may be open to everyone on Black Friday but I'm not sure.
  22. I have a guy who has a small but very well stocked shop and he will give discounts if you order a certain amount of product. He is familiar with the local lakes and always has the new stuff on the shelves as soon as it comes out. He gave me a great deal on the new Revo S baitcasting reels since I purchased a few. Also he is able to order anything that I would want in any quantities if he doesn't carry the item. It is great to have a guy like that. And, we need to help the small businesses in this country anyway.
  23. Oh yeah, I love that old stuff. I've collected a few gems over the years. My dad and I have some old rod and reels. Also have some that are older but not antiques. I have 2 absolutely beautiful original Shimano made Lew's. Also have some old plugs which are highly valued, plus some original Bagley & Poes cranks, some that have never touched the water.
  24. If you can afford the bigger boat, you should get it. You will be glad to have the extra room plus the bigger livewell. I have the 175 and it does everything well to fish my local tournaments.
