  1. Here are some pics of my anglers man cave:
  2. Yeah I always use my US cleaner for all of the other parts. Great with warm water and Simple Green. Saves from having to scrub too much.
  3. I don't know what is wrong with you guys. Sophia Vergara holding my new Revo S reel mounted on a Veritas Rod with a package of Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws, an Excalibur Square Bill Crank and a War Eagle Spinnerbait while she is wearing a santa claus bikini
  4. I'm with you ww2. The DT bill issue has been ridiculous. I can't fish them the way I want to because the bills break so easily. I have contacted Rapala about it and didn't get any response. With many of us on here complaining about the broken lips its amazing that they don't try to fix the problem. Apparently they have made enough money on them that they don't care.
  5. 3dees, I think more people would buy it if they tried it. I am the same as you. I've tried others but it's hard to find a line that seems to cover most situations like Excalibur does. I've never had any issues with it. Casts a mile, very low memory and very strong. Great price for the amount you get also. Glad to hear someone else is using it. And yeah, it is a little hard to find sometimes.
  6. How are they when you pitch and flip? Does the line flow easily with a short cast like that?
  7. Thanks Skeletor. I don't totally agree with the article either, I was just trying to get opinions like yours that make this forum interesting. You also mentioned the detailed TackleTour breakdown of different fluorocarbon brands. For those who haven't read the 2 articles that TackleTour put out, take the time, they are very interesting. The synopsis is that all fluorocarbons aren't perfect lines either. I believe just as Skeletor and RW discussed, most of the premium lines are better than the cheaper ones no matter if they are fluorocarbon, mono, copolymer or braid. Of course there are always a few exceptions to every rule. Keep the interesting comments coming fellas. That's why I like being on here!
  8. Yeah, I really like to mainly fish with copolymer myself. I've used Silver Thread Excalibur for years and love it. I also like Yozuri Hybrid.
  9. I ran across this article which is another small comparison of mono vs fluorocarbon line: NAILING THE FLUOROCARBON COFFIN LID SHUT
  10. I usually stick to my 6.4:1 which will allow me to burn it pretty good or I can always just slow it down a little. I like to slow it down around cover and then stop it and let the blades flutter. I don't think you can go wrong with the 6.4:1 on spinnerbaits
  11. I've got 3. Shallow/Medium/Deep Divers. All Veritas Winch rods with parabolic action. I also still have my older 3 BPS Crankin Sticks which I can't give up.
  12. Yep, i've seen that pic before.
  13. That's the way customer service should be, but most companies aren't like that. I'll buy more Strike King since you can count on them.
  14. I saw where Phil Marks used a prototype SK 10XD to help him win the FLW tournament at Sam Rayburn. I looked it up and that bait is huge. Looks to be almost 2x the size of the 5XD....(maybe that's why it is a 10XD) Supposedly it will dive approx. 25 ft on 15lb flourocarbon. Start working out guys, looks like this one will make you tired throwing it all day!
  15. Forget Abu & Shimano........Just get a Zebco 33 and an Ugly stick, add some generic mono, tie on a renegade plastic and you are all set.....to fail. I actually like both Abu & Shimano.
  16. That looks sick! Please post more pics of the "reel" thing. P.S. How much does one of those run $$ wise? I'm guessing at least $500.00
  17. Mark, I feel your pain. I'm in Indiana and I'm probably only going to get out a two or three more times before my season ends. I will be tinkering with the tackle and tearing apart reels when the water gets hard here in the north. I will probably be reading bass magazines, reading all of the posts on this site and attending the boat sport and travel shows around this area.
  18. Yep. I've bought from them before also.
  19. Oh ok. I didn't realize that Wally dog had free shipping. Thanks for the information on that.
  20. Hey guys, I found a sporting goods store on ebay, an established well known store, that is selling new Veritas rods for $79.99 plus free shipping. Hard to beat that. I ordered 2 Winch models. They still have some left.
  21. Hey Bassh8er I used to have some Pro Qualifiers and did upgrade the bearings just to see what difference it made. I tried the Boca Bearings Ceramics and they were a little noisy but it did make a difference on casting distance. It seemed like the spool would spin forever after I installed them. I also tried the Abec 5 stainless steel bearings and they were slightly better than the originals also. Just my observations.
  22. Guys, I work on my own reels and have tried a lot of different oils. After running out of Shimano oil I called Shimano and asked if I could order some more and the guy told me it was just mineral oil. Is this correct? I know that mineral oils can be slightly different. I read where the new Lucas Fishing Reel Oil is paraffinic oil based. This is a type of mineral oil. Has anyone tried this yet? I know there are many quality oils out there, I just like experimenting.
  23. Guys, I went fishing the other day in one of my local lakes and it was as clear as I have ever seen it. Probably visual to about 12 feet. Total avg depth of lake is around 15 feet. So anyway before I put in my boat I saw a bass, around 3 lbs just sitting in about a foot of water. He didn't seemed bothered by me being right there. I started moving around to see if he would take off towards the heavier weeds. He didn't move. So I tossed a rock in the water and he moved real quick about 5 feet and then turned back at me and just stayed there again. I thought something has to be keeping this fish right here.....So I turned over a few rocks right at the bank and there they were.......small crayfish everywhere. So I pitched a craw around the banks and weeds and had a pretty good day.
  24. Hey guys, just giving you my input for whatever its worth. I took my new Revo S (3rd generation) out for the second time and decided to compare it to my new Chronarch that I've had for about 3 months. Now I know the Chronarch is $70.00 more than the Revo S but I thought I would set both up as close to identical as I could. I put both reels on identical Veritas Winch Rods and threw the samel 3/8 oz. crankbait on both. After casting both reels for approximately 50 casts each at the same target, I have to say that the Revo S held up pretty well as far as distance. The Chronarch was getting an extra 2 feet or so but both were casting the 3/8 oz crankbait a very long way. As far as smoothness the Chronarch might have the edge but not by much. After I completed my amateur casting test, I went back and forth fishing both reels all day long. I really feel that Abu Garcia hit this one out of the park with the new Revo S. I feel for the $129.00 price tag, it can stand up with the $200.00 price range reels. Now we will just have to see if they hold up longevity wise with the Shimanos. The way they feel, I think they just might. Just my 2 cents worth.
  25. Peg X stops. You can find them at TW. Terminal tackle section. They are like bobber stops but work on worm weights etc. BPS also has some but I don't think they have the black ones. They work great at pegging the weights.
