Lews Rods/reels?
I have a tournament and a tournament pro now. Being in MN I haven't fished them yet, but messing with them in the yard has impressed me so far. I have high hopes for them so we'll see.

Gsp Vs Jake Shields
Funny thing is GSP never had a wrestling career, but has turned into a very formitable wrestler (MMA wise). When he coached the Ultimate Fighter they showed that olympic wrestler he brought into his camp. Basically, GSP is a outstanding athlete by any standards. A fight with GSP and Anderson Silva would be epic. Sonnen exposed Silvas weakness, wrestling. Silva has freak skills though and prevailed. If he ever fought GSP, it could possibly be the best and most anticipated matchup in the history of MMA.

Reel Advice
Most of the Pure fishing products ( revos, Lews, Pfluegers) 6.4:1 reels are 28 IPT.

Revo Or Curado...
If your thinking of spending the retail price on a curado, I would look on Ebay for a Pflueger Patriarch XT. You can pick them up for around $180 and its a sweet reel. IMO its better than the Curado. The Patriarch XT retails for $249.99. In the Revo vs. curado scenario (considering that you are comparing the Revo sx vs. the curado) I would pick the curado. I haven't used a stx and the sx is closer in price to the revo.

Gsp Vs Jake Shields
I agree with earlier comments. GSP is a master at taking away his opponents strengths and exploiting their weaknesses. I thought the Koscheck fight was going to be closer, but GSP picked him apart. Shields might be well rounded, but GSP is easily the most well rounded fighter in the UFC.

20 % Off Sale
Thanks for the heads up. I almost ordered some rods from them recently. Did you not get a rod or did they ship you a bad one?

$100 Casting Rod
I was kind of interested in hearing some thoughts on the TFO rods myself. I've handled one in the store and it felt pretty nice.

Northcentral Pa Trout Opener
Friday night the wind was blowing about 30-40mph in White Water(SE MN). Saturday(opener) we crawled out of our tents to an inch of snow on the ground. The snow melted shortly after lunch then the wind picked up again. We only managed to catch a handfull of trout and spent most of the weekend huddled around the campfire. It ranked right up there with one of the worst openers for us in 20 years.

Your Favorite Oakley Lens Color?
To me personally anything besides black/grey looks weird to me (from my perspective, not how they look on me). Thats just me though. When I used to race motocross or when I ride 4-wheeler I prefer clear and pull the viser down on my helmet.

Looking For A Qaulity Baitcaster For Cheap??
Are they on sale right now?

I Have Never Owned A Baitcast!
IMO Shimano baitcast reels would be a good choice for a beginner. They're the most forgiving, especially if you use 3 or 4 brakes on.

Pflueger Patriarch XT!!!!!!
Sorry, I had to ressurect this thread. Back when I started it I was new to Pflueger and was (still am) very impressed w/ the patriarch xt. I have another on the way and I'm ready to pull the trigger on the regular patriarch that is on sale at TW. I have one Lew's TP and the rest of my reels this year are going to be patriarchs and pat. xt's. No Shimanos, which will be a first. Not so much on this site, but another popular site is full of threads about patriarch and patriarch xt's and how impressed everyone is with them. I'm glad to see some others that share the same thoughts. Dodgeguy, I have to admit that I used to think there was something wrong with you. All kidding aside, you stuck with thoughts that the patriarch was the best baitcaster in its price range. Apparently your not the only one.

Northcentral Pa Trout Opener
Its going to be trout opener in MN sat. too. Boystcroix, you pretty much got the same thing going as I do. My buddies and I have been going to whitewater in S.E.MN for about 20yrs. every opener. We're expecting highs of 40 and snow on sat. We have to tent this year cause the road got washed out in a flood last fall.

New Use For Quantum Hot Sauce
Couldn't find my household oil to lube the electric shaver(haircutter) so I could cut my boys hair. Grabbed the hot sauce and lubed it up, wow! I have sort of a cheap cutter so you need to lube it to keep it from binding and pulling on the hairs. Usually once before the haircut and sometimes once during. With the hot sauce on it the cutter worked as good as it ever has and didn't even come close to "pulling". I know the kid appreciated it!

Which Casts Farther, Revo Or Curado?
I've used the revo sx and a curado e7. They act differently, but as far as casting distance they're very close(for me anyway). Being more used to the curado it took me a little practice to cast the sx w/out backlashing, but once I figured it out the revo casted excellent. Both are good reels.

Dvt Need Help!
Whats the best way too get the spool bearing out of the side plate of a lews or patriarch dual breaking reel? I was looking at it and decided to stop so I could inquire cause I didn't want to get all caveman with it.

Baitcaster Messed Up, Need Help
Underneath the line guide(thing that moves from side to side) there is a cap that you can unscrew. Its a flat screwdriver slot. That cap holds a pawl that runs in the worm gear to make it go from side to side. Once you get it apart you will see the mechanics of it. Usually that pawl gets worn down from collecting dirt and dust. It will probably need to be replaced. I started using reel covers awhile back because I travel on gravel roads a lot to get to my fishings spots. That fine gravel gets in that worm gear and chews the pawl up. Another good practice is to oil that worm gear often, especially if your reels get dusty or dirty a lot.

Academy H2O Mettle?
We don't have any Academy stores up north and I've heard decent things about these reels. I have some rods that need reels and I don't want to break the bank. I've put some decent reels on my go to rods and can't afford to put $150-$200 reels on every rod. I know they go for $49.99, but I don't want a POS. Could anyone compare them to lets say a citica e. I like the citica e and was just trying to find a popular reel to relate with. Also, would it be better to get a new PQ for $79.99? I've never seen or used one of these either(except in pictures of course). Any input would be appreciated.
