  1. Last day for 20%+ cashback in gift cards at hookup tackle.
  2. Thanks for the video Glenn. What’s been your experience fishing craw colored crankbaits from post spawn through fall? In the video you mention that they will still work where there is rip rap and therefore presumably crawfish present. Sounds like you stick to the more natural craw colors vs a bold red which is more typical in prespawn. I imagine in those rip rap situations on a given day that a shad color could outproduce a craw color and vice versa depending on the conditions. I’ve also heard crayfish tend to be more active around the full and new moon which could make a craw color more effective during those times. This is all top of mind for me since I started fishing a new lake this year with a lot of rip rap, and have been on an excellent crankbait bite. The fish are currently in their post spawn funk, but I’m curious as to whether this bite will continue once they become more active in the post spawn period. And whether they will have a preference for craw vs shad colored baits. Good thing I have a ton of each 😅
  3. That makes sense and yes, mat craw has done all its damage in pre spawn for me. I picked up a couple wild craw to pair with it since this year I had some days where they were choking bright red. I figure shad patterns will be better for summer and fall, one of the reasons I wanted to expand my color selection. Out of curiosity which of the colors that you listed do you prefer for bluebird days?
  4. I already have Kasumi Ito and frozen glass, and I included PM hot gill on my order along with a bunch of other colors. Interesting you chose all shad colored baits because to me it’s more of a craw imitator. Mat Craw has absolutely crushed for me in the Z2. That’s my #1 color by far. I started fishing a new lake this year with a lot of rip rap and the Z has been really good there so wanted to invest in more colors.
  5. Anyone fishing this rod from Raid? Looking for some feedback on it before I potentially pull the trigger.
  6. I got the rod and was able to fish it yesterday. I only threw crankbaits, but based on the taper I can see how it would be a great bladed jig rod like Midwest Angler stated. The top 1/3rd is very bendy then it shuts off. Surprising amount of power for a glass composite rod. I did catch one small bass on a Megabass z3 crank with #8 treble hooks that I was able to land without issue. I really got it for 2.0 and 3.0 size squarebills which it will be good for. I can also see it being good for mid depth cranks and should be perfect for chatterbaits. Figured I’d post feedback in case anyone else is considering this rod.
  7. What conditions do you like the chartreuse in? I never seem to catch on chartreuse.
  8. Need to pick up some back ups after losing one recently. Want to try some new colors as well. Getting the Z2 and Z3. What are people’s favorites? I mostly fish water with 2-4 foot of visibility. Cheers.
  9. The new spools all have it
  10. Anyone having issues with the newer “plasma rise” version of Sunline sniper fc? I have a bunch of old bulk spools that are running out and it’s time to re-up. But I’ve heard hook up tackle say that they’ve had all kinds of issues with the more recent spools of sniper that they’ve completely stopped using it. I was curious if anyone else has had recent issues with sniper? I bought some Daiwa hidden fc for the time being to get me through since that feedback got me spooked on sniper for the time being.
  11. Looking to get my first bfs setup. Primarily for hardbaits - Karashi is the gateway for this. I also plan to throw small topwaters, twitchbaits, jerkbaits, crankbaits. Maybe some spybaits. Some rods I was looking at are Megabass pop x stick (TB rec for Karashi), raid anti power bait finesse, Daiwa steez bfs 6’8 regular glass. Looking to potentially buy a rod this weekend with the sales going on. Reel I can figure out later but would be good to know suggestions there too. Thanks in advance.
  12. 3000 size spinning reel is right idea. There are potentially better more sensitive freshwater bass rods to pair it to though. Check out the cooking and fishing channel on YouTube for tutorials and gear reviews, although he’s mostly from shore. I surf fish for fluke myself but NJ where we have flat beaches, so not sure how that compares to RI on a boat where you might have deeper water / faster current and need heavier weighted jigheads.
  13. 110’s can be tricky in the wind. There are other baits that work well that cast a little better into the wind. Jackall re rerange comes to mind. Osp Varuna is another one that is slightly heavier and casts well. I also don’t like throwing a jerkbait on spinning tackle. I would look into a metanium dc to help with fishing into the wind.
  14. I like 7:1. I usually fish them pretty fast with a bunch of pauses thrown in (stop and go) to get a reaction strike. You can still slow down with a 7:1 if you need to but in my experience that’s typically not the case.
  15. What’s your fishing style and what are the ponds like that you fish? I can suggest some other baits but the 110 variants and pop max are two of the best so you’re off to a good start.
  16. Interesting I was under the impression the 3.5” is the preferred free rig size and the 4” was better suited for flipping / Texas rigs.
  17. Been throwing a lot of 1/2oz-1oz squarebills this spring so that’s why I got it. Should be right in the wheelhouse, correct? I’ll be testing bladed jigs on it too and I’ve only heard good things about it for that technique.
  18. Longtime fc sniper user. Not the best with abrasion resistance around rock. Is it worth it to upgrade to shooter? I was thinking about trying a spool. Then there is Abrazx for roughly the same price as sniper. Looking at 14 or 16lb test primarily squarebills on rip rap banks. Abrazx would be 15lb.
  19. How are people fishing these and any favorite colors? I’m assuming free rig and shakey head are most popular techniques? I have one pack only fished it once on a free rig with no success. Picked up a couple more packs with the hookup OSP sale today figured I’d put more time into them. Started fishing a new lake this year with lots of rip rap and fish eating craws so think it might be good there.
  20. Sounds like the second gen is a little faster. But I got it primarily for crankbaits so if it’s good for blades jigs too that’s just a bonus. Currently I also throw my blades jigs on a graphite rod. We’ll see.
  21. If you fish ponds I’d start with a pop max. You can pop it and let it sit, walk it like a spook, or mix up both. It’s my favorite popper. Lobina Rico is a close second for something more finesse.
  22. Anyone have this rod? Billed as a bigger squarebill and bladed jig rod. I been having success on some of the bigger squarebills lately and figured I’d give it a shot. Just curious if there is any feedback on it. I’ve heard it’s very light for a glass composite rod. Will have it in a few days but not sure when I’ll be able to fish with it.
  23. Did exchange rate improve or get worse? Just curious since I made a good sized order from Digi a few days ago. Btw shipping was free but they are closed until 5/13 (which I didn’t notice until after I placed my order - oh well).
  24. All baits catch fish. I think Megabass baits get me more bites.
