spro bronzeye frog
I tell you there is nothing better than a bass busting thru the pads after a soft-bodied frog... the key to success is TIMING... can't wait TOO long or a big mama will tie you up in the weeds... but can't yank TOO soon or you will peg yourself between the eyes with a flying frog ;D how I always would do it is wait about a full second.. reel down till you feel a bit of pull and cross their eyes hoping to get them up and over the pads... if you can do that then reel in as fast as you can to keep their head pointed towards you... good luck... I LOVE frog fishing! AL

Chronarch MG50 or Curado 100D
I have grown to truely appreciate a light reel and the bait monkey is loving it! Anyone ever fish both of these reels? Is the 50 bucks worth the 1.5oz? I have done a bit of research online and no one says anything BAD about either and the only thing I have read even remote is on tackletour says the 100 is more reliable.. whatever that means... I want DATA or at least to hear it straight from someone that has fished both... conjecture and opinion is great... but until you pick up one of these reels you can't be sure which is better... The profile is basically exactly the same... bearing count is the same... gear ratio is the same... I would not like to buy a 100 and think .. MAN I like my MG so much better I wish I had just spent the extra $50 and gotten that one... thanks for any input AL

What bait do you use most often?
1/4 oz swim jig with either a single or double tail grub
-
Here's the lake - what's your top 4 rod setups
3 1/2 in gitzit in watermelon with copper flake on a 1/4oz jig head and fished so slow it HURTS... wait for it to feel mushy they aren't hitting too hard... drop shot with a poor man goby, I also caught a nice on with a 4in redshad powerworm but that might have been me just getting lucky if its cloudy that day I would go with a chartruse single willow blade and have a double willow blade as a back up, if its clear I would have a "neutral" single blade and have a double willow blade as a back up for the 4th setup I would go with a small jerk bait and let it pause like 30 seconds in between jerks... this is what I WOULD tie on if I was going fishing... is it right? *shrug* don't hold me to it broh... that is why its called fishing and not catching... GOOD LUCK THOUGH... let us know how it goes

need new rods! plz recomend
G-loomis, St Croix, Shimano Compre or Crucial... they are all amazing rods as far as I am concerned... I just got done shopping for a new rod myself (baitcaster though) and in your price point you are going to find an IMX or a very nice St Croix Legend Elite... I got my rod (G-Loomis IMX) from Gander Mountain for $220. Get as much rod as you can afford... like I heard recently... you will only cry once over the price of an expensive rod... but with a cheap rod you will cry a lot more wishing you had just bought the better one! welcome to the board and let us know what you decided on AL

got it... the new outfit.. WOW!!!
OK this is the deal... I am sure that you don't have to have big expensive rods and reels to be a good angler... but I tell you what... I just spooled up my MG50 with 12lb hybrid and slapped it on my brand new IMX rod and took it outside and did a bit of practice pitching with it... all I can say is WOW.. the setup is light light LIGHT.. and smoooooth... I am not the best at pitching but I was putting my bait where I wanted it.. maybe not a teacup but a plate size spot CONSISTANTLY... I am very excited... I can't wait till my fishing parter gets back from Missouri so we can go try and catch some smallies... so in summery its this... while the fish don't care that I have a bit of a higher end setup like this... just in the way it feels and how light it is I have a HUGE confidence boost and THAT my friends WILL put more fish in the boat everytime... plus I can fish this setup all day long and not get tired... that is a bonus too! I am already saving for another MG 50 and IMX... it might take me a year to save it up... but its definately worth it! thanks for putting up with my excitement AL

Team Supreme???
VERY disappointing... they are from my wife's home town of Rock Falls Illinois... The son really helped me with my tube fishing...as of right now ALL operations have been shut down... Ideally Nevin (the man accused) would be able to turn over reigns of the company to his son Chase so that way that can start selling their products again... I too am partial to their jigs as well as tubes... a lot of folks are out of jobs until this mess gets straightened out. AL

assembling my dream rig... baitmonkey got me good!
argh! what is wrong with FEDEX? I paid extra for delivery... and they have it in Appleton waiting to come here.. they didn't put it on the truck because "its not scheduled for delivery yet" WTH is up with that???? don't they know how IMPORTANT that box is? ;D I can't wait to spool it up with some 12# hybrid and do some smallie fishing with it next week! AL

A MOMENT OF SINCERE GRATITUDE TO YOU ALL

G. Loomis actions
I have found this to be true... I have a GL2 7 ft MH power Med action and its definatly not nearly as stiff as my St Croix premier MH ... I don't know how the taper would be... maybe a fast action rod would be a bit stiffer.. but I like my GL2 a lot... I caught my PB with that rod and a curado 200BSF AL
