  1. Senkos they sink way to slow and have like no resistance so even when you do pick the tip up it doesn't even feel like your doing anything. I have caught plenty of fish with them though but I have to toss a split shot on there or something though. I will use them on a dropshot or c-rig no prob though.
  2. I have a bucco but it is a micro. I wouldn't say it is tip heavy at all. It's a super light rod and has a pretty good crisp feeling to it. I don't everuse it but I am sure it's not bad.
  3. Clicking drag and tension knobs are silly really. As for the drag I do it by feel pulling the line and clicks mean nothing. Maybe tension cold be ok if clicks were finer. If I were to add tension it would generally be so fine that it is pretty much guaranteed it is between clicks.
  4. I appreciate the offer but I will end up picking some up before next year. I will say the bass pro ones are pretty rocking but they are big and bulky and make a bait take up more space. You get quite a lot of them actually for the price.
  5. They don't all sink the same so you can get varying responses. I guess the best answer I could give for ROF is pretty slow usually. If you start to fish fast it will want to rise. They best way the alter the ROF is change out hooks for heavier and lighter. As for who said there baits don't glide we'll. The smaller the bait the less of a glide it will make. A 168 will never glide like a 200. If you chop your retrieve and time it right it is kind of like continually retrieving bit the slight pause will make them glide way out to the side.
  6. +100 on the foam. I put my soft baits in a foam box also. The hanger deal is just a pita. Mine was a bit more fancy though cause I had swivels on the snaps and use nuts to keep the spaced out. That went bye bye though. I also really like that mini slammer. That's something I need to pick up for next year. I also see that maybe you don't have any caps that fit the 200 either I need to find bigger ones for the 200's and 250's ect.
  7. None of the above. Buy plastic containers and line the top and bottom with foam. When you latch the lid down the foam compresses and locks them in place from moving. Also hand gun cases and the like will work. The hanging ones people make are a joke and a pita.
  8. I have yet to see braid do that either. I don't believe any of that. If your having trouble walking a frog it is probably because you twitch to far. Only move your rod tip like inches at a time. Any more and you just end up pulling the frog along. Even sometimes I loose it for a bit after not frogging for a long time. It takes a couple casts to get the feel back for it when you get out of practice.
  9. I would love to have a pluton and I think a lot of people would. They are just much more expensive compared to others and a smaller size like the luna. They are both excellent reels though. There is also some very high end jdm millionaires that also cost a pretty penny. Are they better then the shimanos? I don't know since I never fished one but if I would venture to say they are a nicer reel. I would personally take one over a Calcutta. That stuff is just so nice and I don't know how else to explain it.
  10. I have done decent with them as of late on a straight steady retrieve. They have a tighter action and that seems to be the ticket. The big wide glides and pauses seem to work better for me in warmer waters. I guess it's kind of like a trap vs a crank bait.
  11. The best way to BB rig them is with rare earth magnets and a frog hook. The bait doesn't get torn up that way and you don't need to keep adjusting the hook once your bait gets a little beat.
  12. I became friends with a guy I saw all the time fishing that was from Romania. He taught me how to rig hook and make the boils to catch carp and what to use for bait ect. There was a place I knew that was infested with carp and we could never catch them. After my new carping knowledge I went back with a couple friends and we had a blast that day catching tons of carp on light spinning rods. The most important thing he taught me was you need to make it a competition between the carp for food. It is very hard to get them to bite a bait by it self. But toss out a bit of chum and they are racing each other to get the most and your bait gets mixed up in it all and that's when they will grab it.
  13. I don't know many that are under $20. They are already mentioned but the savage gear glides are ok and the river2seas s-wavers 168 are great baits. You also might be able to find a deps 115 for around $20 maybe. The river2seas wide glide is not a jointed bait like the ones you see for bass fishing. Those are designed as musky baits and there are actually tons of them and can be had for cheap in comparison. I have a wide glide and that's a big bait although I am not sure the size 10-12" I think and cost more then $20. The husky jerk is just a jerk bait really. They are a staple bait for walleye around here.
  14. They have stuff like that for kids. I think they are generally called "derbys" and you can use anything I believe for bait. They have them at little ponds or lakes.
  15. How do you even know those kids are in to fishing? That would be the first thing I would want to know before giving stuff away. I doubt your rocking a bunch of wal-mart specials for your rods and reels and I hate to say it but if your not really into fishing then you don't deserve it. That would be like giving someone who has never used a wrench before a set of snap-on or blue points when craftsman is more then enough for them. They wouldn't appreciate what it really is. I had a bunch of stuff I wanted to giver away on here with the pay it forward thing but I guess some people ruined it for everyone. I ended up taking it to my local place and told them to give it away to kids. I told them any kids that come in with there mom or dad and the kids are the one buying stuff then give them something. I have even seen some of the kids who got stuff later on in the shop and they were happy to get anything for free. It is cool cause I know someone who really wanted it and is going to use it got my stuff in the end. Like a pack of plastics or hardbait or even hooks is nothing to us if someone gave it to you. But for a child thats awesome when you dont have anything to begin with.
  16. 20 or 25# CXX is way to heavy. Your talking about throwing light stuff and CXX is more then you think if you never used it. You would be plenty fine with 15-17# all day. Whatever line size you think you would normally use go less when talking about CXX. You could probably even throw 12# really.
  17. We'll it depends on what your trying to catch. If it is minnows you can cut the top off a 2 liter and put it on backwards. Put some tasty treats in there for them along with some rocks or somethng to hold it down. I only tried it once with the kids and it worked but it didn't catch a lot.
  18. I know I was going to say that. They really bend you over on the price for fishing boxes. I think they should be way cheaper then they are.
  19. I would say 12#-15# CXX. If it was any other line I would just say 15# but CXX is not like any other line.
  20. I have not fished one in some time but it is for sure a very productive bait for a lot of species of fish. It was just a lure I threw constantly as a kid. I could go anywhere and that was a lure that would always catch something. I didn't care so much about species or even size as a kid. I wanted to catch any thing I could.
  21. I would say that is also mine. I like a white grub and I can go with the blade on or off actually. I use to fish the heck out of those as a kid. They will literally catch any species of fish and size. Through my life I have for sure caught more fish on 1" white grubs then anything. Now for what is the most productive lure it is more of a technique but it is a dropshot hands down.
  22. To elaborate on my original post a bait I really fell in love with last year was the Sebile Bonga Minnow 95. There is just something about it that makes it different then other spook style baits. It seems to be a big fish magnet for me and catcher numbers also. Not once have I read someone mention that lure ever and it's surprising. Maybe it is because they are expensive or because TW doesn't carry them. The funny thing is I had it for years and never used it till this year and boy was I missing out.
  23. If it is not good for different diameter lines then why is it the #1 knot for fly fishing? The difference in diameter in fly line to the leader is massive compared to what would be used for bass fishing. I think it is a great knot and I tie that over the double uni know. It's a super thin knot and that is a big plus I think. If I am tying a leader the lines are generally of simat size any ways. I like to try and use a leader with the most strength to match my braid if possible. For spinning it's usually 6-8# and for casting it is around 12-17. But that depends on the line used really. The diamater is more how I choose it then the marketed breaking strength.
  24. I don't get why people don't tie blood knots. You never hear about it but that is what fly fishermen use to the there tipet. It seems like that is the only knot they ever use. I think it might be because it's is a hard knot to tie since you have to hold everything at once.
  25. If you think the black max is sturdy wait till you use a real reel made with actual metal. Someone gave me a black max over the summer. I put it on a rod and used it a few times for kicks. It gave me the feeling while using it that it wouldn't be able to hold up to hevy fishing.
