How Do You Guys Store Your Swimbaits?

Recommended Posts

How do you guys store swimbaits like the Shellcracker, the S-Waver, 8" Hudds, and bigger ones?  I haven't found a plano box that seems to fit some of them, thought I would ask how others do it.

Thanks,

Dave

I use the deep 3600 size boxes for my hudds and triple trout's....up to 10" baits....Don't fish the shell cracker's but I know guys that fish the bigger baits use different containers or the open 3600 or 3700 size boxes.  Think the biggest thing I have to store is a 10" dead twitch.

I cut the dividers out until they fit. DO NOT use any drawers that reel oils have laid on.  It seems some plastics are attacked & glue themselves to the plastic of the drawer.  Done that terribly to 1 tackle box.

None of the above. Buy plastic containers and line the top and bottom with foam. When you latch the lid down the foam compresses and locks them in place from moving. Also hand gun cases and the like will work. The hanging ones people make are a joke and a pita.

I use bait wraps for hard baits and the soft baits get thrown into a plano box that was meant to hang baits.

Hudds I use hangers in food storage boxes, hard jointed swimmers stored laying flat in food storage boxes with a plastic grate to keep them dry. If interested I can email a photo with details.

The soft or hollow bodies are stored like plastic worms in deep Planp boxes.

I bought a large art box from an art supply store and some foam. Keeps hard baits nice and secure. For soft baits I made a box to hang them. Keeps the tails from getting bent. It took me all of 10 minutes from start to finish. Total cost might of been $10 at best.

+100 on the foam. I put my soft baits in a foam box also. The hanger deal is just a pita. Mine was a bit more fancy though cause I had swivels on the snaps and use nuts to keep the spaced out. That went bye bye though. I also really like that mini slammer. That's something I need to pick up for next year. I also see that maybe you don't have any caps that fit the 200 either :) I need to find bigger ones for the 200's and 250's ect.

I have ones for the 200 now. If you need a few let me know. I bought a whole bag of blue Xl owner caps. I need a few of the yellow large ones if you have them.

Buy yourself a double layer 4 pistol Plano case for 14.95 it will hold a lot of swimbaits and they will not budge

I have some 8in and a shell cracker. I use a 3600. You can mod it and remove partitions if you want to make more space. But in the bottom portion can hold a couple bigger style baits.

I appreciate the offer but I will end up picking some up before next year. I will say the bass pro ones are pretty rocking but they are big and bulky and make a bait take up more space. You get quite a lot of them actually for the price.
