Try a follow up lure. I've been getting bit on a 1/4 oz spinnerbait, but no hook up. Now I follow it up with a tube and have been getting hook ups. That spinnerbait is turning into a bird dog lure which is fine with me, as long I can get em.

Man I hate that. It happens to me when I fish after work. For some reason my mind starts to zone out of fishing and back onto work related issues. It kills me, because I go fishing to forget about work...LOL Sorry to hear you missed that one, sounds like you had an oinker for sure.

I hit the wall last summer. Speed up! I burned a spinnerbait as fast as I could reel it in and got my fair share. I read about the technique a few years ago and thought "no way in this lake/pond". I tried it and, man, it worked. You give the bass no chance to think about it. Give it a whirl.

I'm with grim on this one. The water disturbance will kick up the zoo plankton and will get the bait fish activated and subsequently bass will be more active. The water will more than likely become stained or muddy from the silt being kicked up and vibration will be a key presentation method IMHO.

It sounds like you've tried a variety of baits that haven't produced for you and others on this thread have given you some great ideas for baits to use, maybe your problem is presentation techniques? I'm not sugessting that your doing anything wrong because I haven't really read much in here or maybe flat out misread some of your posts on how your fishing these baits, but I would spend some time on trying different presentations. Please do not be offended, I'm really trying to help. Maybe you can give us some insight as to how your fishing with the baits you have or have tried?

I usually start out with some type of reaction lure...spinnerbait, cranks - lipless and billed, etc in hopes that the fish are active and roaming as you menioned. In any case, I find that the smaller ones are more active than the larger ones in any case. If you think that they are relating to cover then go for the weedlines. Right now, up here anyway, they are relating to the second weedline, which from the bank is a long cast. Now you have to figure if they are on the edge or "in the weeds". When I decide that they are in cover, for me anyway, it's a jig, tube bait or weightless soft plastic stick bait, i.e. senko type bait. My tactic is a tube and or jig first and then soft plastic stick bait. With that said, they throw you a deuce and you can catch one in 1-2 feet of water like I did yesterday: The spot: Got her right in the middle of the horeshoe shape of the lilly pads. I never thought she would be there on this day. So in a nut shell, small bodies of water allow you explore all possible scenarios in a short amount of time. Use all your techniques at your disposal and just enjoy your time out there. These little green things will surprise you. Just take mental or written notes of those spots you caught fish on, quickly go over the less productive spots and start the process all over again as the season changes. The less productive spots may be the more productive spots later in the year as I'm finding year in and year out. I tend to throw out all this info after my fishing season ends. The small ponds I fish at tend to change from one year to the next, for whatever reason. Good luck and have fun.

I never heard of them until you posted this. It really looks like it would have a great thump to it. Not sure if the arm style adds to it or if it's just the big colorado blades your feeling. You sound happy with those spinnerbaits never the less. Keep fishing them and let us know how you do.

Grass jigs, flipping jigs, casting jigs, whatever you want to call them. As others have said, a jig wih a bullet type head is the way to go. The line tie angle should be at about 30*. Arky's are about at a 60* angle and will work in grassy cover, but I usually use those in the early spring/late fall when the vegetation isn't as thick. Arky's, however are a great wood jig. Football jigs have a 90* line tie angle, horrible in grass in my opinion, but great around rocks. Be careful with a swim jig, they usually have a light wire hook where a flipping jig's hook would be a lot stouter. endless: Great loking jig, I'm gonna have to try that. senko_77 is dead on with the tube. I find myself using one more and more and in weeds, it can't be beat. Fl_Sharp, are you bank fishing or on a boat?

I totally agree with that statement somewhat. In '08 S&P either knew about the banking industries practices on mortgage backed securities and covered it up or flat out fell asleep at the wheel. My guess is they fell asleep at the wheel. Just a week or 2 before Lehmann went under, S&P gave them a triple A rating. Now you say retaliation on S&P's part and you're probably right, the very people who pointed fingers to share blame are the same people who asked them to be vigilant moving forward and got slapped with a downgrade. I'd say, let's stop looking in the rearview mirror and keep trucking forward. We can't fix the mess looking in the past and looking to blame the results on anyone one entity. It seems like blaming and pointing fingers is the norm these days and action takes a backseat.

Looks like they did. Seems like any bad news is rattling the markets these days. I understand your point of view and you're right, only 1 out of the 3 downgraded, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what's up next? Hopefully S&P is just trying to send a message with this. In my opinion, it's a darn good message.

Home built spinnerbait - New PB on it this spring 1/4 oz Bitsy bug jig - replaced the skirt to a watermelon candy and added a twin tail grub - Berkely Havoc The Deuce Tubes - got them from Bilgerat, I'll have to find out what they are, but they've been really productive.

Clear out your cache. That'll fix it. I got a PM from him not long ago saying he didn't re-up. Will be in the future though. I hope he does, he has one fine spinnerbait IMHO.

I heard that the S&P's decision based on the way Washington handled the situation and pushed it to the 11th hour. They warned our government months ago, but I guess it wasn't as "HOT" of an issue back then. Hopefully the peeps running our country will learn from this in the future.

Well S&P dropped the U.S credit rating to AA+. We should be in for a good ride! Oh Man, this is what I feared and the original meaning of this topic. This isn't good!

I actually like tossing a lighter jig in current and let the current drift the jig in a "bassy" spot. I used this technique in the early spring on my local lake with great results.
