Great reply to this thread. I put my top waters away for this season and have done well with spinnerbaits these past couple of weeks in cold water, but after reading this, I'm going to give these techniques a shot. Thank you for posting your techniques.

Been busy with Work, School, and Deer season Thanks for all the replies guys, man this is why I love this site! I will try all of these. Our water is roughly 60* right now in the morning and worms up to around 65-68* depending on the weather. The water visibilty is ~3feet or so. I am using the green pumpkin just because it is a natural color and have good luck with it at our lake when the water is clearer North Star Baits really have my eye too, I like their jigs (from the looks of them). I really want to find something for the fisherman at my lake to really catch some cold water fish, I gotta be able to do it first to teach them though lol Wow, the water is still fairly warm. Based on your first post indicating that the water was fairley clear to your last post indicating discolored water, I'd say the discolored water now has moved the bass tight to cover or at the mudline. It's also fall, so you have to check for structure around deeper water, as well...points, steep banks, channels, ledges and whatever vegetation is still left. Just trying to put the puzzle together. Hope this helps.

Hey Gamec0cks5, Where have you been? I'm not sure what your water temps are down there, but this time of year I find that you really have to watch your line for any subtle jumps or movement to the side. The bite won't be as aggressive as it is during warmer water conditions, so you may not be feeling anything. Has the water turned over?

For me, walking the dog is much easier if I tie direct to the lure.

This is coming from a person that was in your shoes over 20 years ago. I got out of high school went away to college and lasted 1 semester. Came back home went to a local college and finished my freshman year. I was like you I dropped out. I was working thru college and when I dropped out and went full time. I thought I was on top of the world. I was young and had money. The economy sank like a rock, much the way it is now and the company I was working for went out of business. Now I'm 23, no job, can't find a job in a high unemployment environment with no higher education and enough years experience to speak of. I decided to go back to college in a completely different major. I approached my dad for financial help only to be turned down. I couldn't blame him for his decision. I enrolled into college and attended nights while working in my field of concentration during the day. It took 2 more years to earn my degree than it would have taken if I had went during the day full time. I was 29 when I finally finished school and I should have been 22. Let me tell ya, losing those 7 years cost me a ton of money in salary. Stay in school. It may sound like a burden now, but you never know what will happen in 6 months to a year later if something happens with your current occupation and economy. MHO

Funny you mentioned that FBL. The Vikes waited a day before they officially put Moss on waivers. The report I heard was that the owner was contemplating on keeping Moss and firing Childress. I don't follow the Vikes, but the owner doesn't sound like he's all there.
