I know this is a bit early, but I'm going to need some time from now until Christams. My son is 5 and has started fishing with me this season. He knows how to cast a baitcaster, so I recently purchased one for him for Christmas. He has been using an old 5'-6" fishing rod which is the perfect size for him and one he really likes (he wishes it was red with black guide wraps...LOL). He also knows that the fishing rod was my first rod and the one I caught my first bass on, but it needs to be either retired or re-built. Should I strip that down and re-build it? Build completely new? Or purchase one that's already built? Or should I post this thread in another month... ;D

I've never fished this lure and was wondering if any of you had. Any opinions? Good? Bad?

I'm not a big fan of scent either. I have 1 or 2 bottles which haven't been opened in a couple of years. At the time I thought it would make a difference, but I never experienced "better" results. MHO of course.

Hopefully, Moss doesn't complain about the catered food... ;D

She's adorable! My daughter will be turning 10 (I can't believe how fast those years went by) in January and to this day she always wants to go fishing with me! Enjoy it as much as you can for as long as you can. Congrats to you both.

I wish I had your intuition on projects like this. I learned cadd about 10-12 yrs ago, no formal training just banging around on the computer. The program didn't have 3D modeling so I'm ignorant to that side of it. Having been in the carpentry trade, I basically get an idea in my head and can carve out what I want. For you to be able to program a design is very interesting to me. I feel that I shouldn't be posting on this thread b/c I have nothing to add to it, but I felt a need to applaud your efforts. I know what you mean. Last year was the latest I ever went fishing up here (Dec 12th). I've been waking up in the morning with temps below freezing lately. I think the hard water will be coming much earlier this year.

I've been experimenting with a Deadly Dick #3/4 lately with good results on LMB. I use the Deadly Dick on saltwater stripers and really like the action to it. I got off work early one day and had one in my truck so I tried it in fresh water. I caught a couple on it that day and decided to try it out a couple more times. So far so good. The manufacturer claims it can be used for both horizontal & vertical presentations.
