This guy decided that for his yearly vacation that he and his wife would leave the cold streets of Chicago and go to Florida, he decided that he would leave first then meet his wife there. When he arrived and made sure everything was in order he sent an e-mail to his wife. Unfortunately, when typing her address, he missed one letter, and his note was directed instead to an elderly woman whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead faint. At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen: Dearest Wife, Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow. P.S. Sure is hot down here.
  2. Don't know if they work or not. But, when they come out with a double-shot, extra-hot, no-fat, sugar-free, caramel frappasenko, I'm gonna order a bunch of 'em.
  3. Hey Jimzee, what kind of handle is that? I like the knobs.
  4. Never saw a fishing show I didn't like. You can learn something from any of them. In-Fisherman is #1 for me, with The Hunt for Big Fish a close second. No worst list from me. But I will say that if the choice came down to a fishing show featuring one of the current crop of professional bass fishermen, and the latest episode of As the Stomach Churns, I'd have to think about it for a bit.
  5. Brannus, we travel a lot. After several cruises, and a lot of trips to Mexico, I'd advise you to go to a travel agent. Tell them what you want, and what you're willing to spend. Let them do the legwork. You can go online yourself, and find a lot of last minute deals, but why sweat it. Let the agent do it for you. It won't cost any more. Funjet and Apple are a good place to start, if you want to do it all yourself. Those two will have lots of trips, at all different price ranges. That will give you at least some idea of what you can get for what you want to spend. You can then go to the travel agent with a decent idea of what you want to do. I'd also consider a resort instead of a cruise. We've been on a bunch of cruises, and may not ever do one again. The why's are too long to post right now, but, if you want, send me a PM. I'll give you my phone number and we can talk about it. I like the resorts better. You can usually take a longer trip for the same money. And drinks are included in the all-inclusive price at almost all of the resorts. Drinks are NOT included on a cruise ship, and the bill you get at the end of the trip will stun you.
  6. The only graphite framed reel that I've had break was slammed in the tailgate of my truck. A truly graceful moment. For some strange reason, it never worked just right again. > > I only buy machined aluminum bodied reels now. Don't have any magnesium reels, so I can't comment on those. I've retired all the old graphite reels. Over time they just don't seem to maintain a precise alignment of all the moving parts. But, that doesn't mean you couldn't get a few good years of service out of one. If that's what fits your budget, don't let the graphite frame scare you off. There are several quite decent graphite bodied baitcatsers in the $75 range. If you take reasonable care and clean and lube every year, you should get at least five years out of one. That's only fifteen bucks a year. What else you got that only costs you fifteen bucks a year?
  7. High horse? What high horse? HEY, where's my high horse? I want my high horse. HEY, HEY, some young punk has stolen my high horse.
  8. I knew what you meant, Tin. Just yankin yer chain. OOPS, Mike's gonna be all over me now
  9. Do I wear western boots? No, but after Tin called me a "guido" in another thread, I may have to look into a pair. I know just where that pointy toe will be applied. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  10. Sounds like a great day, Lee. Wish I were there. Everything here is frozen solid again. We had some open water last week for a couple of days, but it's all hard now. Cheers, GK Hey, look for a package in the mail. I bet you thought I'd forgotten, and you'd be right. I did. My wife corrected my oversight, as she often does.
  11. Awesome, George. I can't wait to get back, and go out with you again. Cheers, GK
  12. mine's a gimmick pronounce as follows gh as in rouGH o as in wOmen ti as in naTIon
  13. Too long a list for me, and thay've all been mentioned already except for Steve Morse
  14. Send it to Dr. Phil ;D ;D ;D
  15. My cabin is not filled. We'll be there Sunday, leaving Thursday morning, so I have a spare bed for four nights. Free to whomever asks. Senko77 will be in one bed for two nights. The other bed is there for the taking. First come, first served. Cheers, GK
  16. I filled one of mine up to the very top once. The line drug on the top of the reel foot. BIG backlash on the first cast.
  17. This may not be what you're looking for, but the best swimbait under 1oz just might be the GYCB SwimSenko. No special equipment needed. Cheers, GK
  18. Bass Assassin Tiny Assassin's, charteuse, pink, orange, white and black for dingy water. Shad colors for clear water. 1/16 and 1/32oz jigheads in a variety of colors, including no paint. Thill slip floats and stops split shot Berkley power nibbles Around here. a Tiny Assassin on a small jighead, tipped with a Crappie Nibble, fished beneath a slip float with just enough shot added to almost sink the float, will catch crappie any time of the year. The only critical variable is depth. Get that right and speed and color almost don't matter.
  19. GatorBK, all I gotta say is; you got a pair. Big, brass ones.
  20. Exactly what I was thinking.
  21. I fill all my baitcasters almost right up to the bevel on the spool's edge. I want them as full as I can get. If you don't fill the spool, you'll effectively reduce the gear ratio of the reel. It reduces the IPC by more than you would suspect. Example: A Revo STX, 6.4:1, 27.5 IPC IPC = spool diameter X pi X ratio Full spool diameter for the Revo calculates at 1.367" By removing 1/8" of line (1/4" of diameter)and recalculating, you get 22.5 IPC. By removing 1/4" of line you get 17.5 IPC. There's an easy way to make a slow speed reel out of a high speed one. If you don't mind the reduced casting performance that is. Back when I had just two good baitcasters, Daiwa TD-2HI's, I did just that. FIlled one all the way for high speed, and filled one 2/3 full for cranks and spinnerbaits. The full one had the magnetic cast control set about in the middle, and the 2/3 full reel had the mag's almost off. I could still cast the full reel farther. This little gimmick would probably work better with centrifugal brakes. I use a spinning reel for light baits and long casts, so I fill them up to within 1/32" of the lip, using light, limp line, like 8lb test XL. A little more gap with 10lb test. I wouldn't suggest that with flouro. I only made that mistake once. I'd say that 1/8" is a good staring point for flouro on a spinning reel.
  22. I do fish the Ika deep and unweighted. It's the only soft plastic I've found that can be fished 20' down, or farher, with no weight, as long as it's reverse rigged. I do this almost every trip to Table Rock, and catch smallies doing it. But, if you add current to the equation, I'd have to guess that RW is right. ( thanks for the visual) I've never tried the Ika deep, in current. Maybe one of the belly weighted hooks would work for this application. Cheers, GK
  23. I have two of them, Energy PT's, and I like them for the very reason that RM gave. If you want a dedicated jig/plastics rig, a "burner" might be a good choice. If what you want is a more all-around setup, you just might want something slower. Cheers, GK
  24. Well, you have me stumped, but I'm not the expert here. If you get an answer from Reel Mechanic, Alpster, or flechero, you can take that to the bank. These are the guys around here that do a lot of rodbuilding, and would have the experience to know what to do in your case. It almost sounds like you've damaged the blank under the cork grip. If I'm reading your description correctly, that is. I may have to go pop open a bottle of wine, and think about it. ;D ;D Cheers, GK
  25. NO. I have five Energy PT baitcasters, and have no problems with any of them.
