  1. Agreed, its not the hook and its not the line..So what is it? ...They're not where you're at....They're not on a frog bite...Maybe, just maybe you weren't working or retrieving it the same way (speed, hop, angle) or conditions were different (sky, weather, timing, or even color if you believe in that..) but you get my point. IMHO, If you know its nothing you changed either purposely or unconsciously and everything else is equal, all you can do is just keep moving and fishing. Mike

  13. I use flouro on the majority of my set ups except for a select few and love it...and rarely use a leader..IMHO its only needed for specific requirements. Not knowing anything about your setup, I suggest you use a quality 100% product, not one of the coated lines. Also I agree, use a line conditioner when spooling and the day before any outing. I use Line and Lure. When first useing any type of flouro for the first time and before you settle on one, make a few underhanded roll cast's before you start throwing for distance. It will help you get familiar with it with your current brake setup and the go from there, useing the method WRB posted. Mike
  14. Ditto! Glad you fared well..Considering what could have been Mike

  18. Family is all good down here. It could have been a lot worse if it got only 10 miles more west. Lots of debris, my boy had some trees down, pool cage is a mess but that's about all. They're still under a boil water advisory but other than that it'll be back to normal in a few days. I really feel for you folks farther north. I stayed home for Charlie and will never do it again. You guys be safe prayers to all No Fla Mike....I don't know exactly where you're at but I have generators, blowers, trimmers, rakes etc. If you or any family needs something I'd be glad to load up and bring it all to you or meet you somewhere. I'm in Indialantic so I can be there in 2 hrs max. Post or PM me if you need anything and I'll be coming you way. Mike
  19. Just use a quality flouro for everything except punching and on top...problem solved Mike
  20. Trust me, they still work...Always have, Never stopped...They just don't get talked about much anymore because there are always something else that comes along that is perceived as better. Sometimes yes, most times not. Mike

I also have never had a problem with them. They are my go to fluke hook..Imho there is nothing better to use. Completely agree with smalljaw67. Rethink what you're useing if you're on the heavy side. Mike
  22. We're on our way back to Indialantic to see whats left and what condition it's in. Apparently the causeway's are open up to Patrick Air Force base after being inspected by the COE. We're told that power is real sparodic on the beach side but the mainland seems to be fine. They had hurricane force winds but not the cat 3 force as it stayed off shore about 40 miles. The utilities co shut off the water to the islands so now everyone is under a boil water advisory from Vero to Cocoa. Hopefully we can get in and we will fair well. NF Mike hang in there Pal, this too shall pass Mike
  23. I got my sons family with me also here on the west coast. They live 1/2 mile from the ocean in Indilantic just across the causeway from Melbourne. Dont look to good there but it could have been a lot worse. We're told the storm surge is just down the streeet off A1A. Mike
