  1. If it was me, I’d find a first generation BPS Pro Qualifier. They built like tanks. If you can get one in good condition in a 6 something ratio it will outlast you. I don’t like a high speed like a high 7 or 8 as you lose torque which is more important than retrieving speed to pull her up and out. Mike
  2. Exactly Right! Thats why I keep defending it Yes, there are many trophy lakes in this country, especially down here. But there is only one Okeechobee. Mike
  3. It’s been that way for years. People complain about it because they don’t understand it. I keep defending it because on no other lake is it more important. Gotta know your water Mike
  4. You got in! You must have reserved that place a while ago Mike
  5. @Ski @Zcoker You guys are depressing the H—-L out of me! I have a special place in my heart fir the Stick as that is where I got my PB. @TOXIC You may want a backup if it stays that way in February which will be crazy there anyway. Best of Luck. The Big O is alive and well at certain areas and specific times. Just gotta know where to go now almost on a 3 month cycle. Hasn’t been that way in a long time. I had a 2 day small tournament there 2 weeks ago and bagged 31.4# for 10. It’s wasn’t easy to say the least, but knowledge and constantly moving and changing up was key. Mike
  6. Yeah Buddy!! The older I get the harder it is to live down here. It’s 9:06 am and it’s so hot and humid already it’s hard to breathe and we still have 2 more months of this. Yeah, I’ve been ready Mike

The Federation was my first organized National tournament trail I ever fished. It was considered the starting point for all the dreamers. If you qualified for your Regional Championship you thought you couldn’t be touched, until you competed in it. To do what he did gave hope to us “normal” guys who didn’t know any better. He started it all Rest in Peace Mike

Still waiting for the Bobsleds. Mike
  10. You’re killing me man, you’re freakin killing me!! (didn’t think it would have taken this long) 😃 Mike
  11. Yeah, well the Homer in me sees it as I said. If 7-8 great games is enough to warrant being the highest paid player the owners will have no choice in slotting contracts. Won’t be in my lifetime but I see no other way to combat the “next man up” mentality if they can justify it with such a tiny sample size. Respectfully disagree that all contracts should be hope over results. If that was the case every 1st round rookie drafted every year regardless of position would be “the next man up” Now, that said I get it… That “team from Wisconsin” (can’t say the words) have had a run of successful QB’s that will probably never be matched again. They see something in him, they reworked 2 yrs of his contact for the 5th year option and now they gotta pay. Stroud is an outlier, maybe Williams or the other first round guys can match it or even come close but I’m not holding my breath. That’s where my hope comes in. Considering 40 something percent of first round QB’s don’t live up to the billing, what happened with your guy won’t happen again either anymore other than maybe Penix. You learn by doing but Love seemed to have put it all together because Lefluer changed some things by going to more of a motion/play action game for him 1/2 way through and your guy took advantage of it. Good for him. Oh, by the way we’ve had the same ownership for 104 yrs. Good or bad it is what it is. You guys do QB’s, all 2 maybe 3 of them, yeah I get it. 😀 Mike
  12. Agree..That was the start Mike
  13. It is! The guy sits for 4 yrs and has a great 8 games!! That’s nuts Which makes even less sense than what Lawrence got. Hope over results I guess The next guy up mentality for qb regardless of talent level or experience is gonna make the bench that much more critical with a salary cap structure. In a few years the mid 50’s will be common with a few breaking 60. The owners have no one to blame. But everyone thought when Cleveland gave a fully guaranteed contract that other teams would follow, but that hasn’t happened and doubt it will. Don't be surprised that at some point the owners will try to push for a position slot structure similar to what they do now for rookies. (You heard it here first 😜) They might not get it in the next CBA but eventually they’ll have too. Go Bears!! Mike
  14. This is me also It takes time learn especially with a fairly heavy ripple but it will catch em year round Mike
  15. Sounds like a Great trip! Mike
  16. I’ve found with the KVD stuff that as long as it dries before casting you’re good regardless of when it’s applied and that will depend on how much you use. I spray at intervals when spooling and a shot around the spool the night before. I’ve applied during the day But again, as long as it’s completely dry I’m good Mike
  17. For you new guys who may not know… When tying the Palomar on mono, flouro or co-poly be sure not to twist the loop when tying the overhand. It will crush the line weakening the knot at that spot. Mike
  18. Thinner diameter more Thicker diameter less The number is arbitrary, there is no set number because of the disparity in line sizes I use 6 for 12# & 14# (don’t use anything thinner) 4 from 16# and up to 25# All flouro lines with the SDJ Mike
  19. Or a bigger soft plastic worm 😃 Mike
  20. This is what makes bass fishing different than most others. This board is what makes it different than most others. Opinions are across the spectrum What makes me have confidence in a particular bait and/or presentation for that matter, is the successes or lack of what I’m using. I wouldn’t have confidence in anything without success and wouldn’t have success if I didn’t use it. Interesting debate Mike
  21. On top….Original Scum Frog, UV Speed Worm, Super Spook, Devils Horse (50# original Power Pro) Mid Level moving bait… Magnum UV Speed Worm, Fat Max Ribbon Tail unpegged 3/16 oz (16# Sniper or 20# Shooter) Skinny Dipper or Big EZ (one for wiggle one for thump (50# original Power Pro) Traps (20# Shooter) Bottom contact… Punching..Rage Bug pegged 3/4-1 1/2 oz (65# or 80# original Power Pro) Light to moderate cover… Rage Craw, full size Brush Hog (20# Shooter) They each have their own reasons for certain conditions Mike
  22. Pat Don’t know what your favorite is, but if you haven’t already give the Culprit Fax Max a try. Trust Me Nadine’s sister Bertha Loves those Magnum UV Speed Worms!!
  23. Other than the Senko and the drop, all of those plus a few more is what’s needed down here on The Lake. This is mid summer with relatively higher than normal temperatures all over the country which is prime feeding. Thier metabolism is the highest it will ever get. They not only need to eat they want to eat. In my neck of the woods if you can find them (which really isn’t that hard if you know your waters) and time it right bigger and faster is key. Mike
