  3. I don’t know of any rule listed under the Elite Series… “Official Rules of Competition” that would preclude it during an official practice day. However, that certainly doesn’t mean there isn’t one. I just don’t remember. I’d have to find my 2022 rule book to confirm. Mike
  4. There is a 28 day tournament water off-limits period for the Elite Series. They are not allowed to pre-fish tournament waters outside the 28 dsy period with anyone who has knowledge of the tournament waters. Not allowed to gather way points or specific fishing locations from any source that is not publicly available, unless that knowledge was gained on his own. They are allowed to have general discussions with fans as long as those discussions do not intentionally give a competitive advantage for the current upcoming tournament or any future one. Mike

  7. Good to know! This is my first auto as I’ve always owned revolvers, from a early ‘70’s .38 special to my Model 19 and 686 .357’s. According to SW my 5906 was made in ‘89, it has the square trigger guard with the rear sight protective ears and the original grips. It is a HEAVY gun for sure being all stainless, but that helps with recoil which I was really surprised how little is has but I’ve only shot 115gr loads. I’m having the internals cleaned and oiled and everything else sonic cleaned now. Looking forward to getting it back and try some 124’s through it as I keep reading that they like a heavier bullet for greater accuracy Thank You all for the replies. Mike
  8. None lighter than the original Sum frog. For those and others I use a Dobyns Kaden 715 mag heavy, 50# original Power Pro Mike

  10. Happy Birthday!! Our best wishes for Dee that she’ll have a complete and total recovery. Every day is gift regardless of how old you are. Mike
  11. It’s always a struggle for me to give any specific lure enough time to really prove itself. I get antsy and try to fight the urge to pick something else up, knowing full well I need to try different speeds, presentations angles etc. before I do. Mike
  12. Thank You all You guys helped me as I knew you would. Mike
  13. I read somewhere that the 5906 was more accurate using a heavier load, so this weekend I’ll get a box of 124gr along with a 115gr and compare the 2. I also read in a S&W forum that some guys use a +P, but I don’t know if I want to use that yet as I want to get to know it better as I’ve only fired 2 boxes of 115 so far. Mike
  14. Thanks fellas and thanks for the recommendations. I went to the range a few times and they gave me a box of 115mg Winchester to use. I’m not a competition shooter anymore but was many years ago. With a combat hold, this thing keeps shooting low. It does have dual sight adjustments that I haven’t played with yet but wanted to get a starting point with the ammo you’d recommend first and then start to dial it in. Thanks Again Mike
  15. I recently received a S&W model 5906 9mm and was wondering what brand and grain ammo you would recommend for it. I’m leaning to a 124gr hollow point for home and travel and a 115gr for range shooting but can’t decide on what manufacturer. Thanks Mike
  16. Exactly right. There isn’t an inordinate amount of rules but the ones who violate them almost exclusively know what they did and expect to be penalized. There is an honor system in professional fishing and most will admit what they did without waiting to be caught or turned in by the public, marshal’s or other competitors. There always more to it than what is published Mike
  17. After retiring I hit the road and entered as many Regional and few National trails as I could all as a co angler. I made a little after all expenses but certainly not enough to live on. If I had a boat and entered as a boater I’d probably still be paying. Mike

  20. Exactly! Said it better than I could Mike
  21. I use casting gear exclusively. And that includes skipping and a few of the so called finessey stuff. Don’t use or need a spinning setup for my preferred techniques and presentations as my setup are tailored to what I need. Mike

Agree Those Owner twist locks with cps, are the best made. Those are the only ones I’ve used for years. Mike

Keep in mind Anything and everything you throw regardless of what bait it is (except only when flipping) at some point you’re swimming it back to you to start again. It may be just a few feet for bottom presentations or the entire cast. That’s why you should always be aware of how and where you get bit. That’s pattern fishing. Mike
