  1. I can't say about the cranking rod but I used the 6'10" MH spinnerbait and 6'10" Hvy frog rod religiously until I snapped them closing my tailgate on them. I loved the MH for not only spinnerbaits but also lipless, chattebaits and smaller jigs. They have great sensitivity and really good backbone for how light they are. Denali gets a bad rap because they allow anyone on staff and then the staff flood the internet with their agenda. Overall though Denali Rods are great sticks and very underappreciated.
  2. I used to be a mailman at USPS. The mass amounts of stress and pressure they put on you causes a lot of missed deliveries and sketchy delivery. Also if you order from Amazon your mailman has to delivery exactly of Amazon tells them no matter how inconvenient it is more the customer.
  3. I had a Fed Ex delivery to my work once and the driver came to make routine deliveries but never had my rods I ordered about 2 hours later my rods were scanned undeliverable (he forgot to drop them off) I called and was raising hell until I got directed to the local hub and explained as you did as well and got the same results even though I had to stay late at the office waiting for him to come back.
  4. the last time Fed Ex Delivered to me it was scanned undeliverable due to inclimate whether yet it was in the 40s with sun and no snow in the middle of January here in Ohio. I ended up having to drive 45 minutes to the nearest FedEx to pick it up and file a complaint.
  5. That's me when it is shipped USPS. But if I see it coming FedEx I know I won't be getting it for at least 3 days past the scheduled delivery date.
  6. I know it hold no grain of evidence but its interesting. A few guys I know that fish the Coasta series and sponsored by Lews is saying Lews is trying everything in their power to bring Kevin on board. they also told Bill Dance to move to Lews or be dropped by Strike King earlier before the merge was announced. That is the reason Dance is now with Berkley Rapala. Again I do not know and it was a rumor going around the lower Lews Staffers. In the contract between Lews and BPS there is a clause that BPS agrees to push Lews as their main brand under their house brand. My cousin is the head of the fishing department at BPS in my town and don't like it because he pushes Shimano to everyone even over BPS reels. But BPs came in and told employees that if a customer doesn't specify brands then show him BPS and Lews brand reels first. Although a forced partnership it is still a partnership.
  7. You are correct but BPS (Nitro) has partnered with Lews. SK was just bought by Lews I'm pretty sure if Lews wanted him they would contact Johnny Morris and get Kevin on board.
  8. I have not read his book but I do have his Finesse fishing DVD and watch it multiple times a year. I always find something new to learn every time I watch it.
  9. Between dropping the KVD Sig line and KVD not in the Quantum booth at iCast and how hard Quantum has been pushing Swindle lately I feel it is only a matter of time before you see KVD with a Lews patch on his jersey.
  10. I posted a topic on BR a few months back that I say Quantum had dropped all KVD signature products and had a feeling that KVd would be popping up with a different rod and reel sponsor. This would only add fuel to my fire even though only slightly.
  11. DSG, Field and Stream, BPS, Cabelas, Sunglass Hut, Gander Mountain all carry them in my area.
  12. I don't think I'll ever have the budget to purchase a reel over $300. So to me $300 is my high end. I have been using Presidents, Abu Orra SX, Ardent Bolt and Lews Mach II Metal Speed Spin. I grew up using Abu and am starting to gravitate back to their lineup that's why I am considering the Revo Rocket plus I found it new for $130. However the Stradic will look even better on my rod and can't beat how light it is.
  13. Denny fishes Ardents and they only carry a 6.8:1 or a 7.3:1 I could see him using only 7:1 because he flips more than anything.
  14. That is the Luvias I was considering. I am just like the majority I can justify $300 casting reels but when it comes to spinning anything over $100 I couldn't bring myself to buy. But now I that I need a new spinning reel I am wondering what I have been missing out.
  15. What sets the lower end and high end spinning reels apart from one another? My spinning lineups are composed of sub $100 spinning reels but I have been looking at higher end reels (mostly in the $200-$300 range) What kind of components or technology goes in the higher reels that is missed when using lower reels. Reels I'm looking at are Revo Premier, Revo MGX (Clearanced Out), Daiwa Luvias, Shimano Stradic Ci4
  16. Lews Mach Speed Stick fits exactly what you are looking for and its only $80
  17. I'm was looking for something around 23-25 and found it in the Quantum Smoke I bought.
  18. I am not a big fan of round reel. I am hoping that low profile reels start making a comeback with these slower ratios. I seen that BPS even dropped the slow gears on their new 2.0 Carbonlite.
  19. Veritas has always carried a reputation of being fragile all the way from their initial release. My entire lineup of rods were 1st gen Veritas. They snapped like crazy but Abu stood behind them and replaced everyone. Now I have sold all of them off and purchased a couple 2.0. The 2.0 seem to be more durable than the original but there still seems to be a guide insert problem with them.
  20. Shimano does not offer a 5:1, 13 new generations do not offer one (the older concepts do), Abu only sells a 5:1 in their Winch reel, Okuma, Pinnacle, Ardent all have gotten rid of the 5:1 and replaced it with a 6.3:1. Yet almost every reel comes with a 8:1 options. I think a 5:1 has more necessity than a 8:1. I may feel this way because I am a crank guy. I only use 8:1 for flipping and pitching (and then I'd rather beat my head against a wall than flip all day).
  21. I agree I bought a 5.1:1 Quantum Smoke yesterday with 22" IPT. I cant wait to use it tomorrow. It feels real stout and powerful.
  22. Out of my 15 setups 12 are 7:1, one is 8:1 and two are 6:1. I use high speed quite often but I'm a fan of the 23-25 ipt especially when the whether calls for it
  23. I agree fully with you. No matter what reel I always find myself reeling at the same speed so it is easier for me to get a slower reel than slow my hand.
  24. I am looking around for a 5:1 casting reel. I have noticed that more and more manufactures are going away from "slow" ratios and speeding everything up. I understand IPT is more important than ratios but I think it is weird how only high ratios are available. Just a few years ago 7:1 was your fast ratio now it is more like your middle ground with 6:1 being your "Slow" reel. But even with 6:1 ratios used to be 6.1 or 6.3 and now they are 6.6 and 6.8. What is all the craze with 8:1 or even 9:1 that is making manufactures do away with the slower ratios?
