Only about 2 hrs ago I hooked in to my biggest bass ever by nearly 2 pounds. It started as a very slow day with periods of showers. 1st bass came after about 2 hours of fishing and was thinking at that time to just call it a day. Well it cleared up just a bit and stayed at it. Got another small bass and then the thunder came and harder showers. The rain stopped again but sky was darkening even worse. I was making my way around the lake, walking the bank btw, I kept telling my self just one more cast just one more cast. I must have had 8-9 just one more casts. Well on the last just one more cast this one hit finally. Was caught with a Curado 50E 12# SniperFC on a Quantum Smoke 7' M/F rod. A 22" #6.21

Seems like something might be hindering the cast. Going by the weight I have on a 3.5" tube + the 1/8 = 3/8 and only getting 40-60' sounds low. SK Coffee Tube 3.5" 6.936g .2446oz

Toothy fish is hit and miss with most lines without a leader being use. They have made quick work of 10# Yozuri 12# SniperFC 20# braid of differing brands. Ive also landed them with the same. As for 15# braid being strong I sure think it is, just depends on the brand. Kanzen #15 Ive found to be weak while PowerPro Super8Slick #15 has proven to me to be quite strong horsed a carp in with MH/fast crucial rod. Knot used was -through the eye twice 6 turn UNI knot. Plus many many bass fishing frogs. I would most definitely trust 10# braid over 10# mono strength wise. Also much better with line management on spinning reel.

Have my Core50 lined-up with 30# Smackdown going to try it for the first time tomorrow. The whole 150yards fit with a little room to spare. I dont use leaders, tie direct, when spool gets too low add backing and reverse line. Its replacing PPS8S so will get to notice any differences good or bad.

Times I get bored Ill toy with turtles. The waters I fish are rather clear so Ill just inch the senko along in front of the turtle. They will follow for quite some distance then I will bring in the senko and once the turtle starts to leave Ill toss right back at it and repeat. Oh but one thing these turtles can attract bass Ive seen quite a number of bass following a turtle and throw just behind the turtle and catch one of the bass.

Heres my latest purchases. I saw the Northland Mimic Minnows with nice jighead that were only $1 a pack, I use the head on the Keitechs seems to be working well.

With my core50 & cu50 I clearly get more distance with abec7 bearings over cleaned lightly oiled stock bearings. Ive gone back and forth and there is a difference. Im set with one brake light spool tension and with stock cant get past a certain object in the lake. When I switch to the abec7 and same set up I throw past that object. It stands to reason with basic physics if you can achieve the same distance with less effort throwing with the same effort will give you more distance. Its up to the person operating the set up to be able to take advantage of the better bearing.

The Helios has an Aluminum frame AND aluminum sideplates @ 6.3 ounces has ABEC 5 spool bearings. No mention of the Verano having 5's but it weighs 1/2oz more. The Helios can also be bought for around $137 +tax at walmart oops sorry it is now $138.55 just checked

Trained my thumb how to properly manage the spool. Using just one or at times no brakes with very loose spool tension makes cast effort much easier and distance gains most noticeable. Just going from 2 brakes to 1 on cent brakes means 50% less braking, good gains to be had doing so.

How would the TCS fair compared to the C3-40X rod at the same price??? The C3 6'10" MH/F is $100 at a big tackled dealer it has 40ton blank with Titanium guides zirconium inserts. The TCS is SS guide aluminum oxide inserts.

Best hook Ive used for fluoro use. Its basically needed for my long distance hooksets due to stretch of the line.

Whats inefficient to one may not be to another. I make less casts but the lure is presented longer. Is making 100 casts really more efficient, not to me. I do it because I have experienced that it works over and over and over over years of use and works better than other lures at times.

Well I personally dont fish BIG lakes, mostly 300 acres and less, but do regularly fish wacky weightless senkos 20-25' deep with success. In deep water it can be 2 presentations in one cast. 1 You have the long fall to get any suspending bass that see it falling by. Once on bottom drag hop twitch it along the bottom for the 2nd. Many times working senko across bottom has worked better than a jig worked across bottom for me.

Can be just that brand line. Also the rod guides make a difference with the amount of noise. Other brand braids can be very quiet. Braids with 8-strands are quieter than 4-strand braids. Even company "A" 8-strand can be louder than company "B" 8-strand.

Ive only had basic aluminum v-hulls and jonboats. I winterized the motors and thats it no issues with anything total of 14 years owned. If I had a boat that was needing this or that often Id be getting a different boat.
