Hey 5bass, The boat went to 2nd place guy JD Perdue 5.54. The guy (Tony Padgett) with 6.28 could not pass the lie detector test he should be banned from tournys on SML. I heard he failed it 4 times he said he was nervous. His wife was his partner in the tourny the tourny Director said if she could past the test to verify he caught the fish he could still win the boat but she refused to take test. So the story I got from Tackle Shop was his buddy caught the bass Saturday night about 1:00 am and gave him the fish to weigh in. Oh and he's the same guy that won the big smallmouth in the Optimus toury this year !!!

Yeah we sucked it up in the Oackly tourny my best fish was 2.1 go figure I think it would have placed 5 in a couple of the hours. Thursday I hooked a 5 plus and caught a 18 inch Smallie then Saturday and Sunday cant find a fish on none of my spots Really! oh well thats why thay call it fishing I guess.

Cool deal I heard it took 10lbs to win good job!!!

Hope your pattern holds up for you good luck Saturday. In the Big Bass you only weigh in when you have a fish you think will place in top 5 for that hour. You can hold fish in the live well and weigh in whatever hour you want. They send out updates on radio and text mess. keeping you updated through out the hour so you can deside if you want to weigh in that hour.

Hey Carrington, Are you fishing Big Bass Classic on the lake this weekend? We've been catching a few placed 3 in the Tuesday night touny with 4 fish 10.25lb last week. I didn't fish it tonight its been more like fishing the Tuesday Night Thunder Bolt Classic for the past 3 Tuesdays. Last week we had hail, lighting, rain, wind, tonight I figured we'd have cows, so I thought I'd pass on that fun. We had sat under a boat dock last week for at least an hour dodging storms sucks when toury is only 4 hours. I'm fishing that Big Bass Classic this weekend so I didn't want to stick a hog on my good banks before Saturday .

Yes thats the one I just added some extra chain it works good. I noticed some of the reviews were bad but I've never had a issue with mine I added the chain before I every took it out the first time just because I had lots of chain on my homemade one I used before up grading to this one.

These are the lure retrievers I keep on the boat. I would say with the money they saved me in one year they would have to be worth there weight in gold! I have modified the one on the rope a little to make it work a little better. The one on the pole also aids in getting lures out of the trees when you go tree fishing. Couple weeks ago on Smith Mountain Lake, There was no running fast in this 2 to 3 foot wave and whitecaps. Still caught a couple but wasn't easy. I had the trolling motor on 100% fishing into the wind and the wind blowing me backwards with waves breaking on my feet and front deck at times. Reminded me of Rock fishing the lower Chesapeake Bay in the fall but with a bassboat instead of a 27ft Sea Swirl

I like to use natural color baits, or clear baits. I also try to match the color of the water. Motor Oil color plastics work well in clear water. But I have been surprised a time or two and caught some fish on neon colors in clear water. But those were mostly smallmouth.

There will be bass in all stages of the spawn at that time! I don't fish beds and do well all spring so you should able to find some willing fish.

Maybe you should fish as a boater next time instead of nonboater it would be good for your profile!!!!!! You might even win that would be cool!! 8-)

We had a few good days to fish thought I'd share! All the stripers are in the no keep slot so they were all released to grow more. But they were all caught on light bass tackle with 10lb test or less my largest was caught on 8lb test 8-) Took my son out Saturday he lost a 30 inch plus Striper at the boat he tried to pull him over the side with 10# test : My brother and I went for about 3 hrs Sunday 4 stripers and a bass Today my buddy Dub and I had a chance to get out this afternoon Smillie about 24 inches And last but not least the lunker of the day Dub cast out thought he had a bite and when his lure retuned It had an eye ball on the rear hook ;D

Sam, you are exacly right and 62+ deg. water and dogwoods go togather hand and hand !!! My granddad always said start Crappie fishing when the dogwoods bloom

when the water temp maintains 62 deg. bass will go to beds 55 to 62 deg. will be your best prespawn fishing

I bought one, mounted it tried it once after a whole day of use I got 2 downscan pics that looked something like what was promised from there pics and simulator. Took it off the boat carried it back to Gander told them it did not work as they advertised and was not happy with the product >. They gave me my money back and I purchased a HDS 5 I'll have to wait to upgrade it with the Structure Scan but at least it will work as advertised hopefully

I like to lanuch out of Rudds Creek enough fishing right there you'll never have to leave 8-)
