If I had a dollar for every time I've typed up a response to a stupid comment, just to end up deleting it because it wasn't worth it. There's a quote out there that I really enjoy that pertains to this about arguing with idiots and playing chess with a pigeon. I can't post it but feel free to look it up. Mark Twain has a great quote on it also, "Never argue with stupid people, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Not a fish that swims that will unload in the boat quite like a white bass that's been at the all you can eat shad buffet for too long.

Skipjack look like a lot of fun, but there's very, very few around here. Gar on the other hand, I enjoy, especially when I can sight fish for them. Other than unhooking them, they're fun to catch, even though I rarely actually manage to land one. I caught a gargantuan longnose a few years back I think would have given our state record a run for it's money but I never got it weighed. I've never seen a gar with the girth of that fish.

I can't slow down when I get a fast reel and I'm using a moving bait, I've tried, it doesn't work. Fishing a deep crank or big spinnerbait with an 8.1 reel is exhausting too, mentally and physically. I used the green Curados for years for everything and caught who knows how many fish on them. If I had to pick one ratio for the rest of my life, it'd be something in the 6.2 range. 8.1 is great for the specific uses I have for it, but the 6 ratio reels are my workhorses that could make work in place of those specialty reels if I needed to.

My mag dial is set around 10, spool tension is set like normal so the bait just pulls line off the spool but doesn't backlash when it hits the ground.

Well I sure didn't "need" it, but I couldn't pass up on a used once Tatula 300 for almost $100 off ?‍♂️

verb 1. do (something) in a subtle and delicate manner. I agree with you that a "Finesse" bait does not need to be light or small. I can finesse fish a 3/4oz football jig by dragging it painstaking slow along the bottom in 40' of water. To me, and others definitions will vary I'm sure, finesse is the presentation itself, not the bait.

I tie my bladed jigs with a backbone/blue main skirt and blue lavender accents with a few strands of chartreuse because the tails always has that touch of chartreuse on it. Some folks like a touch of yellow or orange if they've got other sunfish in the lake too. Had a customer catch his new PB on it this past week in fact.

I have the jig box packed full of bladed jigs and nothing else, they don't budge.

I've watched this video so many times, and I don't think it will ever get old. This guy came to America with 1 goal, knowing very little English, lived out of his car, failed badly at the start, and then in one flurry of fish on the final day of the Bassmaster's Classic, he became a champion. The raw emotion he's obviously feeling, gets me every time.

Not sure what being older has to do with standing or sitting? I watched a 63 year young man do a backflip on a trampoline Easter Sunday, something I can't do, pretty sure he'd be fine to stand and fish. One of my regular fishing buddies is 31 and can't stand more than a hour or so before his back hurts so bad he has to take a break, I wouldn't consider him an "older" person, but I'm a few years older than him so maybe that's why. I stand in the boat, mostly sit in my kayak but I'll stand if the conditions allow.

If a big bass wants to jump, it's going to jump. I don't care what you do, they'll get their head out of the water if you got the whole rod under the water. Best things to do is keep your hooks sharp and your line tight but don't horse them. Try to keep steady pressure without constantly changing the direction you're pulling from. Have a plan BEFORE you hook a big fish. So many big ones are lost because a person hooks them and then has the "What do I do now?" moment. Is your net out? What side of the boat/spot of the bank are you going to try to direct them to for landing? Are there any objects in the way that are going to be an issue? Have you retied recently? All things to think of, check, and plan for before that big one shows up. Try not to panic. It's probably impossible I know. It comes with repetition and experience. Myself and many others on the forum have caught enough big fish that we're able to stay calm while fighting them. Those are the guys you regularly see pictures of smiling while holding big fish.

My jigging spoons run into tons of them during the winter in the hot water outlet at the power plant lake. A 20+lb buffalo with a hook in it's tail in the current is almost more fight than I want to deal with most days. The real fun ones are when you get a jumper.

I've done best in the area between Hawker and Roark Bluff. My only meanmouth I've caught from that lake was not far from Hawker my last time on the lake on a jerkbait. I had a grand slam that day, plus a giant drum and we had a 2 man limit of walleye.

Several years ago, I went fishing with a buddy that had a SV Daiwa. I had all Shimano reels, but he let me try it out. I now use almost all Daiwa with several of them being SV models. It would take a lot to get me to go to anything else.

I'm a 6 speed user for bladed jigs also. A Daiwa Fuego CT would do just fine for you.

Those weeds look like prime flipping real estate.
