  1. TO does some bass fishing I believe, as do lots of NFL guys.
  2. This is what I was thinking as well. Likely a Rattlin Rap KO. I don't think Rapala has ever done anything with those etched scales like that.
  3. Super Spook Jr has always been old reliable for me. I've got a Paycheck Baits Repoman that is a killer bait that I should probably sell with what people pay for them. This year the 6th Sense Catwalk has been my bait of choice. It just came out early summer I believe. Since then I've caught who knows how many bass and white bass on that thing. It's the closest thing to the Repoman I've found and the fish seem to like it really well too.
  4. I tried a couple more times with an absolute skunk to show for it. No longer own the bait.
  5. Yes but then those rods do a poor job keeping fish pinned. A softer, lighter rod does better keeping them stuck and and handles a 1/4oz bait better.
  6. They're cool animals when they're not tearing stuff up. They get huge here. I trapped one several years ago that was nearly 80 pounds.
  7. If your youtube is the same as your screen name, has watermarks, ends with anything asking for subs/likes, basically anything that can be deemed promotional, it won't be allowed. Video Posting Policy We encourage members to post videos of their fishing trips or those that teach fishing skills and answer questions on the forums. Sharing of information is encourage. Promotional videos, however, are a privilege for BassResource partners only. Content must fall in line with normal BassResource posting rules, outlined on this page. Specifically, you may not promote your own YouTube channel and videos, or solicit likes and subscribers. That means the "Hey come check out my channel/video!" posts are strictly prohibited. Other prohibited examples are videos that promote or link to your site, your channel, your product, your company, your tournament, or your blog. Watermarks will be considered promotional. It should not contain overt product promotion. (This does not include product placement. Obviously you're using a lure or fishing rod in the fishing video. It's ok to mention what equipment you are using so long as it doesn't sound like a commercial.) This is a family site, so please keep it clean. Videos containing foul language, distasteful images, themes or topics will be deleted immediately. Posting Policy - we have a very strict anti-spam policy In essence, any and all promotional posts are prohibited. Even if you're not selling anything, posts can still be considered "promotional". Any posts deemed promotional are subject to this rule - regardless of your affiliation (or lack thereof) with said product, company, website, etc.
  8. As long as the video isn't promotional, doesn't have anything inappropriate in it, follows the forum rules, you can post it. Lots of people post their videos here.
  9. I hope he stays humble and doesn't let the money go to his head. Being a Chief's fan, it's easy to route for him, but he seems like a good person as well. My boys love him and get really excited when they see him on TV. He helps with the community. I do wish the media and such wouldn't talk about him quite so much because I know people are already getting pretty burnt out on hearing about him. My entire life of being a fan has been plagued by mostly awful QB's and guys at the tail end of their careers, first round playoff losses if they even made it, culminated in a 2-14 season the year before Reid took over. Now I'm trying to enjoy having "The Guy", while it last.
  10. This is the same I found with Gamma Edge. It's great line, highly suggest if you need a very abrasion resistant line. It's also more difficult to handle (stiffer), and thicker than Tatsu. I avoided trying Tatsu for a long time, now that I have, I think of all the fish I lost to random break offs with cheaper fluoro that could have been avoided if I'd just not tried to make do with the low end stuff.
  11. I like a 6 ratio reel for shallow baits, a 5 ratio for mid to deep divers. I switch both to the 5's when the water is cold so I don't overfish the baits.
  12. A Senko isn't always the best option anyways. I use a lot of stick worms. I might own a half dozen bags of actual Senkos. The rest are all Strike King Ochos (which I feel outperform Senkos and are less than half price), YUM Dingers (slower sink that work well when bass are suspending under dock floats or I'm fishing over submerged grass that's near the surface), or Berkley Maxscent (similar price but more durable plus the added scent). It's another prime example of use what works for you.
  13. I should but I try to get all I can out of them. I was glad to get the blades back. What was old is new again.
  14. Right, but a lot of people I guide can't use baitcasters and a 90 plopper is pushing it for a spinning rod so they'll be nice for that.
  15. I plan on buying gas to put in the truck and boat so I can go fishing ?
  16. Vanish is awful. Tatsu is great if you want to spend the money. I just fill my spool most of the way with cheap mono and a topshot of Tatsu. InvisX is really good line without spending as much. I had a video link on why I like my InvisX for jig fishing not too long ago.
  17. It's great they're getting kids interested, but there's lots of great companies out there that are proven. The Googan Squad isn't manufacturing anything. They're buying mass produced rods from who knows where, putting catchy/quirky/funny names on them, and selling them to their followers who have no idea what a good rod really feels like, only that it has the name on it and someone (who gets a cut of the sales profits), they watch on Youtube uses it and says it's great. Is it better for them to get kids involved who maybe wouldn't otherwise and potentially sell them a lesser rod or one that breaks? Hard to say. Maybe they work out great for them and that's great. Then again, maybe they'd like to be informed there's other good options out there that already have a proven track record so the don't potentially waste their hard earned money on a rod they end up breaking or not liking? There's a metric ton of options in the 100-150 dollar range where their rods are priced. I'd be interested to see a rod builder get one in their hands to really look it over and critique it. As for going on private property, zero tolerance. Anyone who says it's okay to do has never owned property. Is it cool if someone comes and hangs out in your back yard? It's not, just like it's not cool to sneak onto someone's land to fish their pond or lake. It's really frustrating that they're portraying it as cool and laughing about it and playing dumb when they get caught because then their followers think the same way.
  18. Saturday was a spinnerbait all day kinda day, to the point that I wore clean through my bait. Last 10 minutes, tried to swing one in and the head and hook went with the fish, I got the arm and the blades. Sunday was a guide trip. Terrible conditions, post cold front, bluebird skies, next to no wind, tournaments both days of the weekend, but we still managed to get on them. Transition banks with bait fish and any wind were key as well as moving baits. I didn't fish much as I was trying to instruct the grandson on what to do, but it seemed like every time I'd pick a rod up, the fish would find me. Once when we'd run into a pack of big white bass, so I threw a Booyah Hard Knocker (which I'd caught zero bass on so far), twice and caught a 3lb smallmouth out of the school, only smallmouth we found with them. Then we were fishing my favorite little rock pile on a sand flat and the kid kept burning his spinnerbait back too fast, so I made one cast off to the side of it to show him how you wanted to just see the blades flashing, when a 3.91lb brusier crushed it. They both laughed about it, I just shook my head. Gave the grandpa my spinnerbait rod and reel to try because he said baitcasters gave him fits. I think he'll probably own an SV Tatula after that. Even in the wind he wasn't having much backlash with a spinnerbait. I still put them on good fish of their own and enjoyed talking to them since they were from the same area I grew up. On a day when 3rd place was taken with 2 barely 15" fish, I think we did great.
  19. Flat sided cranks are one of my main baits during the winter. This past year it was the SK 1.5 HTC, Berkley Frittsider, Rapala Shad Rap #5, and Berkley Flicker Shad Shallow #7.
  20. Those will be nice for my trips with people who can only use spinning gear ?
  21. I occasionally use a single tail grub but I'll use a twin tail grub pretty often.
  22. September always sucks for me, this year not excluded. October is better, and so far that has held true.
  23. Spawning carp I avoid. If they're feeding, or just hanging out, I don't mind them. I've actually caught some really nice fish, especially smallmouth, around feeding carp. I think the rooting around the bottom probably dislodges craws and minnows that the bass are there to grab an easy meal.
