Ever caught bass on a snake?
Caught a lot of bass on the Snatrix worm and Mann's Hardnose snake. I've actually caught a bass on a live snake once in a pond. Fishing it on the bottom for catfish because catfish will eat anything and I found about a 2' water snake and I needed another bait so why not? Ended up catching a 2.5lb bass on it.

Whopper plopper buzzbait
If it gets bent at all it will never run right again, and it will get bent.

Thanks for some vegetation
Show me some rocks and I'll find you some bass.

The Walleye Lipper and more...
Crazy. Those shallow water walleyes do some serious pulling.

How do you catch Carp?
^ This is my preferred technique, but rod and reel carp are a lot of fun too. They'll actually very readily take a small artificial bait also. Flyfishing is a great way to get them to bite, and so are small jigs. Most serious carp fishermen you see use very high capacity spinning reels filled with light pound braid and light fluorocarbon leaders because carp are very wary fish. Small, but strong hooks are very important and you can't pull too hard during the fight because you'll rip the hook out of their lips. Last one I caught on purpose was a couple years ago sight fishing with a few pieces of corn, weightless on a #8 mosquito hook, 10lb braid to a 6lb leader. I saw it rooting along the shoreline while I was in my kayak and cast in front of it a ways and just let it work towards the corn. It found it, set the hook, and away we went.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
My extending fishing vacation netted several "Other" species of fish.

shallow water carp & gar
If they're just in the area, it's fine. If carp or gar are spawning on a spot, I'm not trying to fish there. I've caught big largemouth mixed in with schools of feeding gar, and big smallmouth mixed in with schools of rooting carp.

Frog Rod recommendation
Falcon Bucoo SR 7' 4" H/F is what I've been using and it's a great rod for frogging and right in your price range.

Frogs
Lunkerhunt frogs have been trash in my experience but I know guys like them. The Tip Toad is great. I use it where the weeds are just a little too thick for a buzzbait, but not thick enough for a frog.

Keeping Z Man baits from sticking together?
I've got bags that are approaching a decade old that are stored in my boat year round through triple digit heat and sub zero temps. I still have yet to have a bag melt and I have over 100 bags of them.

Ol'buzz bait - a forgotten lure?
I have a rod and reel in the box dedicated to buzzbaits and it gets used heavily. One of my favorite topwaters to fish and by far my best one for big fish.

Micro Weedless Texas Rig
They make some pretty tiny worm hooks, how small of plastics are you using?

Berkley lightning
It looks fine to me, they're great rods for the money.

Storm 360 GT Swim Bait
They work, but I don't think they work well enough to justify the price over any other paddle tail bait and jighead.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
I was off work for a week and a half while I was suppose to be in Canada fishing Lake of the Woods with my dad. We all know what happened there, so instead I fished lakes around home instead. One day was the best day I've ever had on this particular lake. I caught 39 bass, a 5 fish limit of 18.85lbs, and a new lake PB largemouth of 5.36. It was a great day on the water that I almost didn't go because it was suppose to storm all day (rained a bit but never stormed). Caught 13 or 14 fish out of the same laydown at one point, it was pretty nuts.

Missing a fish
I've had lots of times, especially with smallmouth, when I'm fighting a fish, it gets off, I let the bait sink a bit, and when I tighten up either the same fish has it again, or another follower has taken it. I don't really care either way. Some fish lost probably run for the hills, I watched a spotted bass at Truman Lake get hooked 3 times on a wacky rig before the hook finally held and it made it to the livewell. Can't lay a blanket expectation on how each fish will react to being hooked.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I caught 39, with a 5 fish limit of 18.85, out of a lake I don't think I've ever caught 20 bass in day before, and never had a 5 fish bag over 14lbs before last week, it was nuts. I caught 13 or 14 bass out of the same laydown too, not sure I've ever done that before. I lost the 4lb brown fish I needed to put me over 20 on the day too while I was screwing around with it at boat side.

Etiquette for Back Seaters
The stepping on the seats thing is a big pet peeve of mine. There's literally a step between my seats, but still people sometimes step on the seats instead. I guess they've never looked at the cost of reupholstering a boat seat ?

Soft bites
Get on Youtube, search "Bigmouth Forever", watch it. The angler in the video has huge bass after huge bass inhale his bait and never felt a thing and it's on video, and those were moving baits like crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I imagine we have countless numbers of fish grab our baits that we never know about.

Post a photo a day!
Saw 3 of them fly over a few weeks ago while we were on the water. Don't see them often although there's a season on them so I assume there's a good population, I think it's mainly further in the western part of the state. They were big birds for sure.

For all you snake lovers.
Looks like a pretty good sized rattler in that last picture. Never seen one in the wild, although we have a few around here. I've seen a couple cooperheads and water moccasins (real ones, not the water snakes that everyone calls water moccasins which are basically non-existent in NE KS), it's always a cool experience. There's a story I hear constantly here about a person was water skiing on Lake X and fell into a nest of water moccasins ?, like they just have a floating nest in the middle of the lake or they were out cruising in their little snake boat or what? People's fear of them makes them spread such a ridiculous story that they can't stop and see the giant hole in it.

Booyah Blade Spinnerbait
What color skirt is it? What style and color blades?

Favorite frog
I pulled the hooks out of a regular Padcrasher and put it on a Toadrunner and had much better luck with hooking fish. A moving bait in cover is just prone to getting missed by the fish though.
