  1. Is it possible to remove the clip that's on it so you can just put yours on there?
  2. I HIGHLY suggest the 30 size in Chrome for smallies. I'll have to dig out mine and post a picture, she's a little chewed up. I love having clients fish it on guide trips. The morning starts with them looking in disbelief and the day ends with them asking where they can buy one.
  3. Warms my heart to see people quitting on it, or fishing it incorrectly and assuming it's ineffective. Still works great, doesn't need all the tweaking with the bigger hooks, stouter hooks, heavier heads, weedguards, offset hooks. Just a 1/16oz head and a #2 hook, don't let it touch the bottom too often, don't worry about being able to feel it, just catch fish. It only catches little fish too, except last trip out when it accounted for a 4 pounder and another less than 4 ounces shy of 7 ?
  4. I fish barbless on a lot of treble hooked baits, especially when I have my boys in the boat. Saved the day last year. Lake was playing with his bait (SK 1.0), before we launched like I told him not to. He hooked the crank back on the rod and tried to set it down but the hook stuck to him when he dropped the rod. The screams were pretty immediate, but I'd smashed the barbs down on the little #8 Owner ST36s not 10 minutes prior just in case something like that happened. Hook slid right back out, dug the first aid kit out of the truck and doctored him up and we had a little learning moment talk afterwards. He caught several fish on the same crankbait and never lost one he hooked. I don't lose many I hook on barbless trebles. Single hooks I leave them on because they tend to create a much larger hole.
  5. One of them actually uses his fot spinnerbaits and squarebills as well as bladed jigs and does well with it.
  6. Our cells are 8man cells, you'd be housed with 7 other people ? It's a terrible design really. We haven't gotten to that point yet here. Still allowed to go fishing, but a lot of people aren't following the social distancing guidelines and I'm afraid that's going to be the reason it gets shut down. I'll have to start towing my boat and fishing in my uniform then ?
  7. Couple of my friends have that rod and love it. Never personally used it but they use bladed jigs a lot too and it works for them.
  8. I agree it sounds like you've got a Premier muskie rod. A MH/F bass Premier is somewhere in the 10-20lb 1/4-1oz range on the specs and you're way over that. You could maybe use it for tossing some swimbaits? I'd guess it's probably going to be pretty stiff even for that though as you'll rip hooks out of fish if the rod doesn't flex at all.
  9. A 70lb is much stronger, and will last much longer on the 24V system than a 55lb will on a 12V unless you run 2 batteries parallel.
  10. It's just part of the game. I'll go long dry spells that I can't get bit on big baits and switch to mainly conventional, then I'll get on hot streaks where they're really eating them good. I mainly fishing glides and wakes though, 2 types of baits it doesn't seem like you have. They've been by far the most productive for me.
  11. I've caught all of them on the same Ned rig on the same day before.
  12. Nailed it. Brim is a slang term used to describe about any kind of the sunfish species, not an actual type of fish.
  13. I shot a CO2 cylinder across the garage once trying to rearm my automatic Mustang vest. My poor wife nearly died laughing at me.
  14. 6'8" M/F spinning rod and 8lb mono.
  15. Nailed it. Pits and quarries are completely different animals and a category all their own.

I have my favorites and try not to go too crazy, but if I see something I like from another company I'm not going to shy away because it isn't from one of my favorite makers.
  17. A jig and Huddlebug can both be fishing the same, but a jig is way more versatile. The Huddlebug is to be fished slowly along the bottom and that's about it. Jigs come in a variety of colors and sizes as well and you can adjust fall rates and profiles by what trailer you use. I have some Huddlebugs. Super realistic, have not been super productive though. I imagine that has to do with me usually fishing stained to muddy water where the effect of their realism is lost and the bulk of a big jig has more drawing power.
  18. Just like any other bait, it depends on the situation. My personal favorite is the 1/2 or 5/8oz, but when the shad are really small the 1/4oz will far outfish the 1/2oz.
  19. As soon as my frog disappears, I swing on them. I don't miss many either. Fish don't have hands, if they pull the frog under, not many ways they could have done it. If you wait it just gives them time to bury up further in the grass and make getting a solid hookset even harder. Watch a few pros that like to frog and see how many are counting to 3 before they set the hook, I bet you don't find many that aren't swinging as soon as they see their frog is gone.
  20. Agreed. Everything looks like a common carp, except the very large scales. Possible that the vultures has pulled a lot of scales off just giving the appearance of the big scales, but I don't see a bunch of them scattered around.
  21. Sounds like a bent/damaged prop shaft. The new armature should fix that though.
  22. When we were out Wednesday as a family, 2 teenage girls were fighting the howling wind, in the middle of the lake, in inflatable kayaks, with no life jackets. Water temp was 48*, small white caps. Made me wonder if their parents didn't know or just had a big life insurance policy on them?
