  1. You're looking for a Booyah Pond Magic spinnerbait. It's a 3/16oz tandem Colorado/willow leaf. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Booyah_Pond_Magic_Spinnerbaits/descpage-BYPMBB.html
  2. I consider a fish over 5 to be a big one, over 7 is a special fish in Kansas, state record is a little under 12.
  3. Welcome!
  4. Welcome!
  5. That's a rig that makes sense to me, but has never produced a single fish, no idea why.
  6. I overfish my jerkbaits with a higher IPT reel is what I've found. When I take up slack, I end up bumping it forward unintentionally so it doesn't sit still as long as I need it to.
  7. Like some of the fishing ads they don't even bother to put line on the reels ?
  8. Red and white boats are everywhere around here it seems. Went out of my way to make sure I didn't get a red boat when I bought mine. Really like the color combo of mine.
  9. Not sure when it was but I had a season when it really "clicked", in my head where I could really visualize what my bait was doing underwater and what I should be doing to best fish the area I was in. A few years ago it really hit me how much time I wasted fishing unproductive water and I started spot hopping a lot more and covering just the most productive areas instead of the areas that "this one time I caught a good one here 5 years ago but haven't caught anything since". Now if an area or spot isn't productive more often than not, I don't bother with it most days.
  10. Hybrid stripers are "functionally sterile", meaning they can produce all the ingredients, but the odds of them actually producing any offspring are extremely low and most likely to occur during backcrossing with a white bass or striper than another hybrid.
  11. Are you looking for a spinning or baitcasting rod? Not sure why you'd absolutely "need", an XF rod. They may be nice for some presentations, but being young and on a limited income, you're better off buying more multipurpose rods. I'm not sure if you handed me a fast and an XF rod I'd be able to tell the difference between the 2 honestly.
  12. That combo will work. I prefer a little longer rod but you don't need real specialized equipment to fish a Ned rig successfully.
  13. and fish it very slowly and softly. Nothing moves fast in ice water.
  14. It's a killer trailer on a bladed jig and amazingly durable. I didn't think they'd last long with how thin they are towards the tail but I've had them last more than 10 fish almost without exception.
  15. Screwlock in the nose, nail weight in the head, EWG wacky hook in the screwlock.
  16. I like teaching people how to fish, almost as much as I enjoy fishing myself. One of the hardest things to explain to people learning is that it takes time. I can take someone and tell them everything I know and teach them as much as possible, but it takes time and practice to get it down. I've been doing it for 30 years to get where I am and I'm still learning. Each failure is a chance at a learning experience. Step back and try to figure out what could have been the reason why you didn't catch fish so next time you can take a different approach. We all failed many times before we succeeded.
  17. Chloe had a play date with my BIL's 6 month old puppy and she got ran ragged in the back yard. Covered top to bottom in mud. She got a bath and dried off and fell asleep on her back with her legs hanging off our bed.
  18. No fear of job shut down here. Only thing I'm worried about is getting quarantined at work. One big module setup for a worse case scenario that we have a large scale outbreak in the building and need to stay here to prevent infecting families at home, really hoping it doesn't come to that.
  19. We did an inventory last night of the cabinets, fridge/freezer, and deep freeze. I'm not a picky eater, I could make it for a couple months easily on what was in there. My kids would have to learn there wasn't an "I don't want that for dinner", option real quick. Got a few hundred shotgun shells, and a few thousand various other rounds of ammo. Getting plenty of hours at work, and still getting to get out on the water for now, I just wish all the panicky animals in the herd would calm down so the stampede could get back under control.
  20. We really liked our guy. He's a military vet and on the city council in Gardner now. He's half crazy, I think that's why I liked him, he didn't talk or act like the realtors we've had in the past but he worked hard for us and didn't try to just sell us a house to get a commission check. He stopped by the other day to drop off batteries for our smoke detectors because it's about time they should be changed, just because I guess. https://www.facebook.com/RichSells4you/
  21. I have the 7' 1" M/F St. Croix LTB and it's a great rod for 1/4oz jigs and lighter T-rigs.
  22. I know they say they're still getting orders out, but being that they're in California, might be something to consider with the state being locked down right now if you're hoping to get an order anytime real soon.
  23. I still have some and one of the Thin Fin shiners too. Tom's right, the Thin Fin is one of the worst casting lures I've ever used, but they do work well.
