  1. Got a TW order in full of mainly swimbaiting goodies. Still waiting on my Savage Gear Pulse Tail bluegill. Also ordered a Tatula LT 3000CXH, but they sent me a 3000DCXH ? So back it went to be exchanged for the right reel. Some of the new Savage Gear Pulse Tail Shiners, a line thru Pulse Tail Shad, some FishLab Bio Minnows and a FishLab suspending 5" crappie glide. An Evergreen Flat Force 4 crank, and some 20lb Flame Green Smackdown that I'm going to put on my Ned rig reel as soon as I'm sure the icy mornings are done. Now I just have to work 14 days in a row before I get another day off to play with my new toys ?
  2. I tried, no dice. Even my trusty Shad Raps struck out. It feels to vibrate harder than balsa baits do to me, which could be an important factor in the stained to dirty water I'm fishing. Not claiming it's a magic bullet at all, especially since this was the first time in probably 4 trips it got bit, but we've all seen times when one bait IS the magic bullet, and this day was shaping up to be that way until it was cut short.
  3. Don't go by yourself. Tell someone where you're going, when you're going, when you're returning. Ice fishing is pretty fun when the fish are biting. The ice never really gets thick enough here. It's too bad because there's a couple places with pretty good ice fishing for panfish and stocked trout.
  4. As long as the air temp is comfortable, and I can control the boat well enough, I'll fish in it, I just stick to smaller bodies of water. The wind is constantly blowing 15,20,25mph or more here, so I just have to deal with it. I killed them a few years ago in March on a small lake fishing jerkbaits with sustained winds above 40 and gust over 50. It was whipping around so much, thankfully they weren't holding tight to the bank because casting accuracy was not happening.
  5. I've got both, and they're both really nice reels. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I'd probably go with the Fuego just for the savings if it was me.
  6. Was not the case for me last week. After I broke the bill on mine, I got zero bites on any other similar cranks I tried.
  7. Congrats to them! My wife and I skipped the regular wedding as well. Got married at the courthouse and used the money for the reception instead.

  9. One of my favorite ways to fish. Catches all sizes and types and works way more than just in cold water. I fish them on a spinning rod from my kayak.
  10. Well @A-Jay this bait is awesome, highly recommend. Cast great, got down a few feet easily, vibrated at slow speeds, and actually was a very slow floater. Unfortunately the fishing today was not awesome and other than this guy absolutely unloading on it, no other fish were harmed.
  11. Stumps and a 75lb Golden Retriever that wanted to investigate those stumps while I was trying to retrieve a lure off the top of them. Was not a good combination. Cost me a phone, a Garmin Virb Elite camera, a spinning rod, and some tackle, and a whole bunch of my pride since it was trout opener so there was no shortage of spectators.
  12. I never think to do this with baits for some reason, I just buy a new one, or don't. I have a 110 Duo that started sinking on my second time using it and tried contacting them but got no response. Maybe I'll try Berkley and see what happens. Already bought 2 replacements, but I wouldn't turn down another.
  13. I've got 2 boats and a kayak, but I still enjoy wading creeks and small rivers, even if it is to catch palm sized bluegills. Having 2 young boys makes it even more enjoyable. It's Lake's favorite kind of fishing, and if it makes him enjoy fishing that much more, that just makes it that much better.
  14. It's Chief's week at Lake's school. Had to go get him some supplies and he was pretty pumped to get his picture with the Mahomes cutout. Kid is so spoiled. He's been alive for a 2 Royal's World Series appearances, 1 win, and now a Chief's Super Bowl appearance, took me almost 34 years to see ?
  15. Man, I'm a good swimmer, but 600 yards, 6 football fields, in cold water, I don't know that I'd make that. You're talking a quarter mile swim that you're not dressed or prepared to make. Add in a little chop or current to beat you down some, a tough proposition just got a lot harder. When I flipped my yak in March a few years ago it was in the 40's but warm outside and dead calm. I was still glad I had my PFD on.
  16. I take the back one off and leave the front one on, just fold it down so the screen is against the carpet/deck so nothing can smack it doing down the road. No way to do the same with the back one, that's why I take it off.
  17. 6lb 3oz from Beaver Lake, AR on a swimming fluke on an A-rig.
  18. x2, this is where I get my electric chicken colored paddle tails.
  19. Would that work very well with a plastic bait?
  20. Shad lake and winter time, I'd try an A-rig if you can and if you haven't.
