  1. They're releasing a new jig at ICAST so I doubt it.
  2. Most days it's really good but I've had days when they really seem to miss it a lot.
  3. Whenever someone asks for any of my baits. Right in the middle of moving right now but you can send me a PM if you want to talk about them.
  4. Both sizes and the JDM Chibitrel. They combined for 2 10" fish in months of trying. I just can't get them to eat gill baits here despite the fact that they eat a lot of gills in our lakes. Shad glides, bulls shads, or slammers are a whole other story.
  5. Congrats!
  6. Big green sunfish, aka flathead catfish bait . I've sacrificed hundreds of them in the name of catching big catfish. They're super aggressive and very hardy.
  7. I've had a full size and a JR, was not a fan of either, but I've not found a bluegill bait yet that has been productive in my local lakes minus a Mattlures U2 gill or Savage Gear line thru 3D bluegill and those were only marginally successful. They looked really pretty in the water and I was always on edge for the moment a big one would crush it, just never happen. Not many little ones hit them for me either. That's pretty standard price in the swimbait world. Most guys that fish swimbaits a lot don't even flinch at dropping 100-200 on a bait.
  8. Missouri has a newsletter with fishing reports similar to what the KC Star use to have. Not sure of it's accuracy but it's there. I'm sure you're aware but you have to have a Jackson County permit for Longview, Blue Springs, Prairie Lee, and Jacomo, and Jacomo is a 25hp max lake.
  9. Not just jigs, beat up baits in general are more productive IMO. When they start to look like these, they just have that mojo that puts fish in the boat. Don't know that I've ever kept a jig long enough to catch 60 fish on it, that's impressive.
  10. I don't use an O ring, I just hook it through the plastic. Just thought I'd further confuse things ?
  11. If you're not fishing around rocks, there's no reason to use a leader in dirty water, especially since you're really just fishing a small T rig anyways.
  12. Glad you two were able to make it out and enjoy a day together.
  13. Welcome!
  14. Welcome! We do have an "Other Species" forum and many of us enjoy chasing fish other than bass.
  15. It varies between the individual fish IMO. Most of our lakes have northern strain, but I've fished for Florida strain fish too. I've caught some really hard pulling individuals of both strains, and some that didn't fight much at all of both. I've also caught some Tiger bass, they're very aggressive and hard pullers. Not really any way to tell the difference by look alone.
  16. By all accounts it's a very difficult lake to catch fish and the ones that are caught are mostly small. The weeknight tournaments there are usually won with 5-8 pounds back when I use to follow it. Supposed to be a good walleye lake though.
  17. It's still a very worthwhile topic. I feel most think Senko they automatically think weightless, but in reality it's a deadly bait on a weighted T-rig and pitched around cover. The bonus is it's a pretty heavy bait so accuracy isn't an issue, while retaining somewhat of a finesse look.
  18. Geez, I still fish with a lot of these "old" reels ? Curado 100B, 200B, Chronarch 100B, Curado 300E were a few I saw listed that are still in my every day line up. I'd really like to have my Chronarch 100BSF back, regret selling it all the time.
  19. It was fun walking the boys around the yard finding them. I was fully clothed though. Pretty sure if I was walking around the yard naked it would be my neighbors who were afraid.
  20. The fresher the better imo. Bluegills aren't hard to catch most places with a small hook and piece of crawler or tiny jig. You could always have a half dozen caught and ready and then trade them out asap when you catch fresh ones.
  21. I would still be in after we're moved and settled in. We just need to get a headcount and set a cutoff date for when people can get in, and a cutoff day for when baits need to be completed and shipped. Without those guidelines things just drag on and never actually happen.
  22. I've never used a bead with my punching rigs, don't see any need to.
  23. Lure names are the only names I'm any good at retaining. I'll forget the name of a person I've just met the instant they've said it.
  24. Vinny posted this 10 years ago and hasn't been on the forum for 2 years, I'm sure he's found his answer by now ?
  25. Lucky Craft is releasing a 198 Sammy. Zman a magnum TRD, which I think is usually a sign of too much fiber ?
