Swimbait hooks
I was wondering if those were a different hook than I had because the gap looks way bigger, thanks!

Camping and a dog
We've taken our Golden Retriever and she does well and liked to bark at people but got over it quickly.

Swimbait hooks
I have the same mold, it's really easy to pour and makes a nice weighted hook. It works well for other plastics for a different fall too.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I caught one around 4 and several small ones from the bank last week on a jerkbait and a float-n-fly from a little city lake.

Acts of kindness... Where do you fall?
I like helping new people learn. I donate stuff to kids fishing derbies or high school teams every year. I always have the open invitation to any active member on the forum who wants to experience how bad the fishing is in Kansas to come jump in the boat with me. If I catch a keeper of certain kinds of fish I'll offer them to nearby fishermen before tossing them back.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Jerkbaits were working yesterday, water was 40.5-41.5*. Most everywhere is dirty and high after all the rain. The biggest trick is finding clearer water. La Cygne looks terrible and the rain had the opposite effect on it, the water cooled off about 6* and looks like the Missouri river on the north end.

The Road To The Super Bowl 2020
Wait until it comes time to start paying all those young guys and see if you still like Dorsey. Great talent scout, terrible with money. Chiefs are still eating a ton of dead money from bad contracts he gave out and will still be paying on them in 2020 as well. I'm excited for the Browns, if any fan base deserves it the Brown's fans surely do. I think they'll make the playoffs pretty easily this year provided the wheels don't fall off and everyone can't get along.

Missile D-Bomb question
They'll work good on a hardhead, pretty bulky for a shakyhead though unless you have a wide gap hook.

Need a 4/0 straight shank recommendation
What type of worm? I've had good luck with the Eagle Claw straight shanks for flipping grass but I never use them with worms and I'm always using braid and a heavy rod. If it's just your typical ribbontail worm, you'll probably want something a little thinner, especially if you're using something other than braid.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
It was still cool, but 50's feels great compared to the 20's and 30's I've gotten so accustomed to fishing in. It had to go unfortunately. I like having the beard, but the mustache drives me crazy. Work requires us to have a mustache if we're going to grow a beard and I got tired of it. I still get carded every time I go to the liquor store or bar (which is very rarely), but not bad for going to be 33 in a month. My wife thinks I'm an idiot because how excited I get each year the first I hear the peepers chirping. I don't care about any other supposed way to tell if spring is almost here, when I hear frogs croaking, spring is right there. About as close to that kid on Christmas Eve feeling as I get as an adult.

In-Fisherman Bass Guide 2019
3v2 Bass Fishing Tournament. I was part of the 3 team that didn't have a camera so I was just in the last few minutes.

In-Fisherman Bass Guide 2019
Yeah I was in a video with Andrew Flair a couple years ago. It can't get much more crowded than it already is, but the fishing is so difficult for those that don't know it that it scares a lot of folks off after a couple trips.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Caught about a dozen in less than an hour in the cold rain today from the bank. Most were small, one was big enough to eat the rest of them. Float-n-fly and a small Yo-Zuri jerkbait did all the damage.

First time Catfishing
It's the same way in Kansas, they just have to be legal keeping sized and count towards your daily limit. An 8" bass makes great cut bait for channel cats and we have lots of lakes with slot limits that allow keeping fish under 13" because of overpopulation. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

The ironic thing about that is Olathe is one that he's always said is a poor lake for MWF fishing. I've never really used it out there but now that it's closer for me to go to La Cygne than it is to go to Olathe, I never go to Olathe.

La Cygne has been as good as it's been in years for both numbers and size the last couple years imo. Wyco, by most accounts, is as good as it's been in a long time too, it's just different fishing than it use to be. The thing that doesn't make sense about LMBV supposedly killing SMB at those lakes, is the LMB has been as good, if not better, at Melvern and Wolf, this past year than it has been in the past, so why is it not hurting them? I had some great trips to Melvern last year but a Ned rig rarely played on those days. They were eating aggressive, "power fishing techniques", and ignoring finesse stuff. Maybe the unwillingness to fish something else is the issue the MWF guys are having?

I wouldn't get too concerned. A lot of the lakes he swears are dying are still loaded with fish. LMBV doesn't wipe a lake out either, it only effects the larger fish and eventually the fish build up an immunity to it. It took about 10 years at Gardner lake but the fishing has really come back strong there.

Catfish identification
Looks like a walking catfish but kind of hard to be sure from that picture.

Ditch the dough bait, especially if you're fishing circle hooks. I honestly wouldn't suggest circle hooks for your first time out but if you want to use them, just remember not to set the hook or you'll miss every bite you get. I'm not familiar with the Potomac other than I know it has some big blues in it and channels. I'd suggest some kahle hooks and fresh cut bait if you can get some. With it still being the winter months, you'll probably be best off targeting the up current side of deeper holes where fish are congregating. Just a simple slip sinker rig with enough weight to hold your bait down in the current.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Didn't really need it, but couldn't pass up on a Okuma Helios 7' 6" H/F for $90. Going to have an Okuma Helios SX reel on it for jigs ? Going to be a sweet looking combo.

Stealing a pros spot during a tournament
These pros find the best spots on the lake or fish the best community holes on the lake. Thinking they're the only ones that know about the spots is laughable. Unless the kids sat and watched him catching fish and moved in as soon as he left, I don't really see how it could be considered poaching. Even then, there's no what for them to know he was going to come back to fish it again later. I've been on lakes with big tournaments on them while I was fishing. I fished, and caught fish, but never off anything I was aware of being a pros "spot" and never felt bad about what I was doing. My BIL and I had Ike roar up on us at Grand during the first Classic there. We backed off the spot and watched him fish with everyone else, which he did for about 2 minutes before he took off again. We continued fishing and promptly caught a nice keeper off that spot. The way I see it, he had just as good a shot at the fish as I did and he's the pro, he shouldn't have any difficulty catching fish behind a weekend warrior. Crossed paths with plenty of other anglers and never had any issues. I've always gotten out of their way and let them fish. I understand they're trying to make a living, but I'm also doing what I enjoy doing. Baseball players have to deal with fan interference, it's part of the game.

Okuma TCS Scott Martin Rods
I haven't fished their high end rods, but their other rods I've fished were underwhelming at best. They're so hard to read reviews on, because I'm positive a lot of them come from kids you could put guides on a straight tree branch and say it was from Favorite and they'd say it was the greatest rod ever made. The ones I've heard that were actually from guys that had fished them said sensitivity was poor for a supposedly high end rod, about on par with a $100 rod, they were heavy, and disappointing as a whole. That's only a handful of reviews though, so far from what I'd consider a real fair assessment, but considering a TCS can be had for around $100 with just a little looking, there's no way I'd buy one over the Okuma.

SMB or Warmouth?
Which further confuses things because a Goggle Eye (Rock Bass) is a completely different fish from a Warmouth other places ?
