Braided line.
KastKing Super Power is my main braid. I buy the 547 yard spools for about $20 on the bay. It's been great line that is similar to PP but it last much better, handles nicer, and cast better. I also like that it's available in several colors and a wide range of break strains. If you don't need that much you can buy a 150 yard spool for less than $5

ROAD TRIP!!
Since the cabin fever has clearly set in for some, time to start talking about the annual official, unofficial Bassresource road trip! It's going to be at Table Rock Lake, MO on April 21st and 22nd (but you can obviously stay longer if you'd like). I have a pretty good sized group of local KC area guys already planning on going, and I believe @roadwarrior @.ghoti. and possibly even @J Francho might be there. We'd be happy to have anyone that wanted to be there. Just want to put the idea in everyone's minds and give you something to get it your mind off the cold And a couple pictures from our trip this previous spring to help your decision.

Post a photo a day!
I hope to. Honestly, I'd prefer normal temps for this time of year, helps keep the fair weather fishermen at home. Plus, those power plant lake fish just bite so much better when it's nasty out it seems.

This is a family forum, no reason to post that here.

i'm opening an indoor lake
Lots of lakes around here have heated docks that guys fish during the winter. Most have brush planted under them, pretty much a crappie, bluegill, catfish, occasional walleye, white bass, or wiper deal. I opt to fish the power plant lakes instead.

4 lb. line
Have you considered trying a thin braid? A lot of crappie guys around here use light braided lines because they're thin and have great sensitivity but also strong enough to straighten out a lot of crappie hooks so they don't lose as many baits in the brush.

Good catch, I missed that new Storm logo on the package.

A rig question
Pre-spawn, absolutely. Never had any luck during the summer though.

Traveling tips
I used to do similar, but used a loose fitting tarp anchored over the top of the boat, then slept in the boat. Never had anyone mess with anything.

Buying Hooks in Bulk= Smart
Weird, the onesI get are very sharp. Not the ultra point kvd hooks, but still plenty sticky. Not sure the product number though. Weird, the onesI get are very sharp. Not the ultra point kvd hooks, but still plenty sticky. Not sure the product number though.

The Blue Cat Pond
Great looking fish. I found a big gizzard shad (12-14") giving his last few kicks of life just before I left the lake Monday. I saved him just in case I get the urge to try for a big winter blue in one of the deeper holes of the little river.

Gamma Copoly opinions
I used it on a spare spinning rod once and it was great line. Very strong, tied easily, good abrasion resistance, and handled easily. No reason I didn't continue to use it other than it wasn't in any local stores and I didn't want to order it.

Wake baits
Haven't used the Rapala but I like wake baits any time the bass are holding really shallow and not really hitting a spinnerbait or topwater very well, gives them a little different look. Really calm mornings/days can be a good time for them also.

Buying Hooks in Bulk= Smart
I buy trebles in bulk as well as my worm hooks. I use Eagle Claw Lazer Magworm hooks for most all my T-rigging. They're $14.30 for a 100 pack, so $.14 apiece I like the EWG short shank Mustads for a lot of my treble hook needs. Those are $20.70 for a 100pk of #6, so about $.21 a hook.

Lure info- Old, Storm Wiggles, Luck Craft, etc
I'd use the Lucky Crafts in the first picture. None of them are really any more valuable than the other. The wiggle warts will either have "wiggle wart" or "Storm", stamped on the underside of the bill. The ones that say "wiggle wart", are the older and more valuable ones, although craw colors tend to bring the most money. 3rd picture is older Rapalas, Creek Chub, Heddon, Storm, Arborgast, and a couple others. Not any real valuable unless you find a collector needing them. Still some history and neat baits there though. Bottom looks to be Megabass and maybe Jackall. The ones with the outbarb hooks are certainly Megabass, which are expensive baits, but I'd fish them.

Lure swap
Doesn't really matter to me what it is, just cool to see other people's work.

Coolest Trip Ever
I got to witness it once from a boat during a trout season opener. The lake froze with skim ice all around the boat as we sat waiting for the sun to come up. Had to drive around in circles to break a big enough area for us to fish once it got light.

2-3/4oz Topwater?
Large topwaters require specialized gear, usually swimbait rods and reels. I have a few topwaters in the 2+ ounce range, and once the 2 190 ploppers I ordered today get here, I'll have a couple more
