Your coolest new technique this year?
Thanks, it's an 1/8oz with a 1" trailer. I caught so many fish with it this year, and about every species of fish too. I jokingly started calling it my "Power Ned" because kind of like a Ned rig, it caught tons of fish and all species, just a little heavier and bulkier than a typical Ned rig.

Berkley Ned Jig Heads
There's a trick to it. Push up and past the point of the keeper, then push down and around the keeper so the bait stretches around each side of the hook. Once you push hard enough you'll feel a "pop" and often see the keeper stuck through the back side of the a just a tiny bit. Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to rig and change out baits also.

Buying Factory Refurbished Rods
I've bought several refurbished rods from FFO that I use for guide trips. They take a lot of abuse and haven't had one fail yet.

If you don't have your mold sprayed with Drop Out, that helped me a lot.

25 Days of Christmas is probably their only sale left. I'm sure you could call or email and ask them.

This one is 8.5 pounds for scale. It was very thick, but still way shorter. and my 11.2 that was a little over 26" Then Ondrejka's 12 pound monster was 27.5" long. Obviously very fat, but like I said, I'd be shocked if that one wasn't over 10.

Then I go and take guys for free and they catch their new PB, on one of the baits I make to boot!

Horsing/Skiing fish to the boat
If it's a little fish, I'll ski them in quickly and get them released unless they're being feisty, then I'll let them play themselves out for both our safety. Bigger fish I'll fight carefully but land as quickly as possible.

Your coolest new technique this year?
I had a lot of fun with the micro bass jigs I started making this year. Then I picked up a few sweet swimbaits late this year that I'm really looking forward to fishing next year. WSB Rat with a 175 Slide Swimmer for scale. Custom painted black crappie Phoney Frog shad A wild colored DRT Joker (bottom isn't mine) and a Legrady Lures Donut Shad

I've never seen one that long that wasn't a DD fish. My 11 was only 26", but our wipers are super fat too. Still, I'd be really surprised if it wasn't over 10.

My days off are Sunday at 8am-Tuesday at midnight. Sunday is my family day though. I almost always have an open seat on Monday and Tuesday.

Never heard it called new Olathe but it's the bigger one off Dennis Ave in Olathe. The smaller one is Cedar or Old Olathe right off I35 by Olathe Med.

Elaztech storage ?
Oh I've seen them stuck together in the original package. I know they've changed the formula and are probably constantly tweaking it to get it just right. Lots of factors that could effect them that we wouldn't ever know about. The surest way to try to prevent it is the original packaging though. I have a bag a friend gave me that was stuck together that I took out and let them sit in the open air in my shop and they basically pulled apart and went back to original form on their own with just a little kink to them.

Bubble gum senkos
I carry the bubblegum colored TRDs just to use on a Ned rig for trout. I catch quite a few bass doing it too though.

Fish ID
So there's a spawning population of goldfish in the body of water you were fishing? I wonder if they cross with common carp?

Did you weigh that beast? The 9 pounder I caught last week was only 24" long and that one doesn't look skinny at all.

Whopper plopper 130 topwater Michigan river smallies
Don't you know the 130 is too big for smallmouth?! Smallmouth don't know the meaning of too big, especially when it comes to topwater. Some awesome explosions

Must have fluro line sizes
I have 8lb on one spinning rod, 14/15 on one baitcaster, 17 on a baitcaster, and 20 on a baitcaster. I only use it for a few applications as I prefer to use copolymer when I'm "suppose" to use fluoro.

St Croix ~ Warranty Program
I've used their warranty twice, once on a rod failure with a Rage rod and once was probably my fault so I paid the replacement fee. Both times it went smoothly and the process was much faster than I expected.

Elaztech storage ?
Keep them in the original package and stored separately from regular plastics like it says on the back of the bag and you won't have any problems. I carry dozens of bags of Zman in my boat that survive 100 degree heat and below freezing cold while being stored near but separate from regular plastics and I haven't had any melt yet.

Ned Rig Mushroom Head Weight Question
I've only fished Indiana once and I have no problem believing that as fact. Our bass actually rarely school in large numbers except during the summer when the young of the year shad school up, but they're very difficult to catch when that happens. They'll also group up during the winter months, which is when Ned seems to most often hit his goal. I've found them in large schools in the power plant lakes during the winter time. I think most often it's so effective because our fish feed shallow and our lakes offer little cover so the targets are very obvious so cast-to-catch time is very short. I've noticed in most of my videos that my time from cast to when I release the fish is often no longer than 30 seconds. Even a large fish will be under a minute unless I weigh and/or take pictures of it.
