  1. I'm not a big fan of their stuff, but the WP has been so productive and I know lots of areas that I'd like to throw one but there's too many weeds, hoping these will be a good option that is a little cheaper than the Sprinker.
  2. Some new topwaters I won't get to use until next summer. and an old school stand by.
  3. Looks like a big school of stripers or wipers. Could also be catfish, carp, or gar.
  4. Nope, none whatsoever. Maybe if you have extremely pressured fish and extremely clear water, but we have neither. I have no problems catching fish at lakes like Table Rock, Bull Shoals, and Beaver Lake without it, so I'm convinced it's mostly unnecessary. I like the fall rate and action of some baits with it, that's the only reason I use it anymore.
  5. I've used trout for cut bait, the catfish love it. They're like candy to big stripers.
  6. Because you don't? I fish fluorocarbon on only 3 combos and I don't need it on those. I mainly use much cheaper mono and copolymer for all the presentations you're "supposed" to use fluorocarbon for.
  7. Only had a few hours yesterday on La Cygne in the johnboat with a trolling motor only, but still did pretty good considering how limited I was in area and time.
  8. Common carp are overpopulated in a lot of the old reservoirs that mainly exist in Kansas. They cause problems with water clarity from their feeding and spawning that stirs silt and uproots what little vegetation there may be that helps with water clarity and quality. The state spends thousands of dollars each year on a rough fish removal program to net and remove carp from these lakes. They can cause problems with spawning fish if the silt covers eggs in a spawning bed and cause them not to hatch. It's easy to shoot 50-100 carp a day in some of the lakes and none of them will be over 5 pounds because they're so overpopulated. Normally I don't think they're an issue, but the potential is there and I get to witness it firsthand in some cases.
  9. Looks like a bucket of swimbaits
  10. Looks like it could be the predecessor of a Deps Buzzjet without the prop.
  11. That is exactly what I do with a lot of my crankbaits. I always feel like if they get the front hook, then they're eating it well and I want the holding ability of the EWG. If they're nipping at the tail, I want the hooking ability of the round bend. No idea if it works like it does in my head, but I've talked myself into believing it so that's what I do.
  12. I much prefer the Supreme XT to the Supreme. They felt much more solid and connected than the Supreme did and have performed well for a few years now. Shop around and you can find them for a little more than $100.
  13. You don't actually need fluorocarbon.
  14. Speed Spool for me. I've owned both reels. The Casitas feels like it has a lot of flex to it to me. It cast well and felt smooth but struggled under a load. The speed spool cast well but wasn't the smoothest. It handled fish without any issues. I sold the Casitas, the Speed Spool ended up on the side of the road somewhere when it slid out of my truck bed during a kayak, pond hopping day.
  15. Mainly my bass boat, but I'll also roll in a johnboat, yak, or on the bank, fishing is fishing.
  16. Welcome!
  17. 3' visibility is pretty clear in our lakes, but most of the fish stay pretty shallow all year because there isn't much out deeper and most of the bottoms are mud or clay. I've had my best luck in deeper water with baits like a 10" worm, football jig, or 6XD. If you're shore bound, I'd be slinging a football jig or C-rig and dragging it up those drop offs.
  18. Haven't used them in years but used to raid my dad's tackle box for Jelly Worms all the time when I was a kid and he loved the 9" black Jelly Worms. Always caught a bunch of fish on them and just stopped using them because they weren't the new, cool bait. I know they'll be great in some of the lakes I fish though.
  19. I mainly use Strike King for cranks. Quite a few are custom painted baits from a friend of mine too.
  20. Imo, they're overpriced and underperform. I've had so many DT series baits break on me it's ridiculous. I know they're wood and you'll break some wood baits if you use them enough, but they've proven way too fragile for me. Nothing of theirs have I tried that was any better than something I could get from someone else for less. Plus there's the whole ruining the Wiggle Wart thing when they bought Storm that I'll never forgive them for. FWIW, I do fish some of the small Husky Jerks and Xraps, the #8 sizes, because there really is nothing cheaper and better than them in that size range, and the #5 Shad Raps will never be replaced in my box, but their newer baits especially are just underwhelming as a whole to me. Obviously their baits work and I'm not trying to say they don't or won't, I caught lots of fish on my DT 6s before they'd fall apart, I just don't have a spots for any of them in my boxes.

  22. It's amazing how many stolen vehicles get stolen because the keys were left in it with the doors unlocked. At least you had your doors locked and were able to get your truck back. Glad they caught the guy before he started drinking and hurt somebody.
