  1. Ditto. I'd take these two over the rest by a long shot.
  2. Fishingskirts.com is where I buy all my skirt material from. Tons of options and discount pricing on bulk orders. I'm not sure what mods you're looking to do to the mold? Other than a little difference in shape, there's not a big difference between the 6th Sense head and Poison tail that I can see. I modify most of my jig molds to take a wire keeper and have done some bigger modifications to allow for different styles or sizes of hooks. Haven't messed one up yet and I'm not good with tools
  3. Haven't ever caught one that big, but like you said, the ones I've caught were serious fighters.
  4. I'm in, PM inbound.
  5. This is one of the things I've learned I was doing wrong with a dropshot. I had to start thinking of my sinker as an anchor. It's just there to hold the bait in place, not to be moved along the bottom. My goal is to shake the bait while keeping the sinker in place. I've been much more successful this year with a dropshot than I have in previous years since I made that change. You say a senko works in the areas you're fishing. One of my best dropshot baits this year has been a wacky rigged 4" senko, or a 5" slim senko. Something you might give a try and see how it works for you.
  6. Yes, that's a male longear in full spawning colors. My son and I were catching them off spawning beds in a shallow creek. That one happened to be one of the most colorful and also a particularly large one.
  7. I believe those are their spawning colors. I've caught some really colored up redears, but they're not super common in our lakes. The sunfish family has got to be one of the tops in appearance though. Most of the redears I catch are colored pretty plainly.
  8. Not for Lenexa. You need a JOCO permit for Shawnee Mission Park, Heritage, and Lexington I believe.
  9. Yes, when they prefer the sound of it better than the regular one. It's a great bait, I'm a believer in it. Can't prove 100% that it works better than the regular one, but I have confidence in it and that's what matters.
  10. Giant drum on a finesse jig Monday. Couple of wipers on Keitechs Tuesday.
  11. The top one would be a good size to fillet. The bottom two are going to be a potato chip fillet.
  12. Lake Shawnee was on fire Monday. Got some wipers and several largemouth at Olathe Tuesday. Just a very few of the fish we caught at Shawnee in the video. There was so many clips of catches that I just cut it way down so it didn't look like I had it on loop for half an hour. If you ever get to the Kansas side, Lake Lenexa is pretty protected and a good little kayak lake.
  13. Reminds me a lot of the Zoom Magnum Finesse worm, which is one of my favorite shakyhead baits, just for almost twice the price per bait. I'm sure they'll work just fine, most baits in that genre of baits do, but I've really been attempting to pare down my gear and that's an area of soft plastics that I'm 100% comfortable with the small selection I've whittled it down to.
  14. You could use either in that situation, so go with what you prefer. I use both depending on the situation. Most often it will be spinning gear with a light jighead like it sounds like you're wanting to fish.
  15. I use the 30 in chrome and 40 in morning dawn for smallmouth and they love it. The 50 is a good bait too but I prefer a Slammer to the rat so I didn't fish it enough to feel the need to keep it.
  16. 8 pounds wins a lot of our weeknight tournaments In fact, one of the very first ones we had when they first started, my BIL and I won with 5 fish for, 5 pounds even. 12" length limit. Big fish of the night was 1lb 2ozs. We know how to grow them in KS
  17. These are my backups if I don't have any of the micro jigs. They're great suspended under a bobber but I hate having to replace the plastic on them every couple of fish. Excellent fish catchers though and not just for trout.
  18. Yep, get to work 13 hours tonight instead of 12. When the clock goes from 0159 to 0100, that's the longest hour of the year. The joys of working midnights
  19. I've bought several 2.0 Veritas from them for guide trips. Been great rods and everyone who has used them liked them and they've held up great.
  20. It depends on the lake around here. Some lakes that are lined with trees and cover that isn't normally in the lake, and the lakes lack much cover, high water seems to make every fish in the lake move into the newly flooded cover and the fishing is great. Some lakes have lots of cover already and are lined with trees and bushes along with having lower fish densities, makes it almost impossible when the water gets high and the fish scatter. Ones things for sure, you won't catch them if you don't go.
  21. That's how I learned to fish a jig. Took 1 rod and reel and a box of jigs and trailers. It took some time, but now they're one of my favorite things to fish.
  22. I've bought several rods and reels from them that were reconditioned, but I couldn't tell what was fixed on them. All the rods I've got looked brand new still.
  23. Those 3 colors will get you through most situations. The paddle tails are good trailers. I also like the Rage Menace and Havoc Pit Boss.
  24. Oh it was a lot of fun, but when I already work full time, fish a ton, hunt for deer and ducks, run a small lure company, guide, along with being a husband and father to 2 boys, there just isn't a lot of time to do it.
