  1. Zeiners is probably the cheapest but shopping around is the best way. Sometimes you can find guys getting out of pouring and get them cheap if you watch Craigslist or Ebay.
  2. This is an actual thing in my boat. Drop the Ned to the bottom and crank it up a couple times, then lay the rod down and fish something else. Some of the biggest crappie I've seen from Melvern ate a Ned fished like that.
  3. Mine screws in from the outside. Can't imagine a stump ever being able to really contact it at all, let along pull it out. The plug has to be removed in KS because the state is trying to stop the spread of Aquatic Nuisance Species like Zebra Mussels and Asian Carp.
  4. Do it during the summer so everyone can catch a fish this time That lake has a pretty good saugeye population and stupid numbers of crappie, it's just hard finding one bigger than most of my swimbaits. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it anywhere but if it gets put together I'll surely try to.
  5. I drank the last of my Crown a couple weeks ago I can just eat a sandwich and whatever sides are there, it really doesn't matter to me. I'd eat some fresh walleye though, I just don't like it enough to ever bother keeping one to eat just for myself. Melvern is always nice, but no way I'd be confident in having fresh walleye, even if we were all chasing them. Milford would be much more likely, but it's also an hour further drive, a long haul for a day trip. I wouldn't care if we even did it at Clinton or a small lake with a decent walleye/saugeye population (cough, cough, Wabaunsee, cough). Maybe if we gave the bleach lady some fish she'll stop plotting our deaths.
  6. In case any of you guys haven't noticed the new link on the bottom of my signature.
  7. Zoom or Netbait.
  8. I also got to use mine to fling an A rig around during the Classic weekend. It handled it great and I DID get to fight a few fish on mine I agree with stk, this is going to be a great stick for the 1-3 ounce baits and rigs.
  9. I use 20lb C21 or Big Game for my big baits so you'll be fine.
  10. If I was fishing in one, I'd just lay them along the side. I never had a rod locker or much of a front deck until the boat I have now. I always just laid them along the side in the bottom of the boat and grabbed them as I needed them. We have a lot of state lakes that are under 200 acres that would be perfect for something like that.
  11. Plum apple and black grape are my favorites, even in clear water. Watermelon candy/red with the tip of the tail dipped in chartreuse JJ's is a really good one too.
  12. I just cleaned all mine and sealed them with U-40 last month. It was a lot of work, but they all look nice now and hopefully will continue to do so without having to be deep cleaned every winter.
  13. You're fishing a river so I'm assuming there is current? That big bag the wind is blowing in your line is adding additional lift to your bait, which the current is doing as well. So it's possible the wind whipping your line is adding unnatural movement, slowing your sink rate, maybe even preventing your tube from reaching the bottom. When I'm fishing braid in the wind I like to lay my rod tip down so my line is on the water to prevent the wind from being able to have too much of an effect on the line. Stepping up to a heavier weight on your tube might be another option as well. All else fails, if you can't beat them, join them.
  14. Welcome! I fished for years out of a very similar boat (Lowe Roughneck 1652VPT). Not the ideal bass boat but I caught a couple fish out if it
  15. I don't eat fish, mushrooms, or drink beer... Just because I like to be difficult. I could certainly provide some catfish and probably crappie or walleye if I really had to. I couldn't find a mushroom if it had a flashing neon sign above it. I'd be up for it though. Maybe a fishing day with a shore lunch type deal?
  16. Yeah, and I always seem to be working OT then, so I get to work an extra hour.
  17. Unito uni is what I used.
  18. Olathe is a tough lake, especially early in the year, even more so from the bank. You're better off fishing one of the little ponds like Celebration or Prairie Center ponds. Woodland pond in Springhill can be okay too.
  19. Watch a season of MLF, especially the one from Michigan or this one running now. The one in Michigan, it wasn't a matter of if KVD was going to win, but by how much (something like 40 pounds more than second place, that's a FORTY pounds more than the second best effort a professional bass angler could put forth). He almost went out in the first round of the sudden death round where they had to catch 28 pounds of bass to go out. He's still one of the best out there.
  20. Mine will finally be here Monday, I hope
  21. I don't use a seat except when I'm running!
  22. I bought one at the expo. It's a LOUD bait with a nice roll and runs about 2' on 10lb test. I'm very excited about it to say the least.
  23. I did a few years ago. Super hot summer kept me off the lakes and I went on a 2 month hiatus chasing big ugly fish on the river. I still managed 2,776 bass that year though. Assuming I'd kept fishing those 2 months I estimate I'd have gotten close to 4,000 since I was to 1,000 by April. Fishing during the daylight hours when it's already triple digits by 9am isn't fun for me though.
