  1. The Minnowz work great on a bullet head for smallmouth.
  2. Tried one Thursday night, not overly impressed. Had an interesting action, but it wasn't interesting to any fish. Once I switched to a plain Slider head they were biting my finesse worm though, so it wasn't the worm.
  3. Bandit 100 series without a doubt. They use to be the only cranks I fished and that was one of my favorite colors. They're still readily available but if you'd like I have several I'll say are old discontinued Bombers and sell for $10 apiece
  4. That's the same way I am. It's really interesting to be able to go back and recount the day through video, and some of the antics are priceless.
  5. I don't like them in really muddy water but a foot or two of visibility is okay.
  6. Great pike! Sometimes I wish we had them here until I start slinging my expensive swimbaits around or I'm fishing a jerkbait in the spring, then I'm glad we don't.
  7. Counts 100% in my book. One of my buddies caught one just shy of 7 (his PB) on a jerkbait a few years back that had one hook on the underside of it's chin. Never questioned that catch because the fish had obviously tried for the bait, he fooled it and landed it (just like you did). Congrats on the new PB and don't listen to the A rig haters.
  8. Was a good fishing weekend. Had a 5lb 1oz bass at La Cygne at about 1:30 in the morning on a 1/2oz homemade black and blue football jig. Then Gardner lake showed up like it was the freaking Ozarks on Thursday night, producing the largest bag of the year so far with Micah and Adam's 15lb 3oz limit on a Code Blue wobbler. Coty and I had a respectable 11lb 5oz that was the second heaviest bag of the year from Gardner too. Then I went to Olathe Friday morning because I couldn't help myself with the nice, cool weather and tore them up on a jig including a 3lb 6oz fish off the dam.
  9. I really needed to get out at night more this summer, 2 of my biggest bass I've caught this year were at night, all 2 times I've gone at night. Lake is notorious for it's big, thick fish. This one was no exception at around 19.5" and 5lb 1oz on a 1/2oz homemade black and blue football jig.
  10. I'd go with the Triton, although it's about 3k more now than it was when the owner was trying to sell it on CL awhile back. I'm pretty sure the Nitro console is removable. There was a 18 Explorer on the water a couple weeks ago while I was out and it looked like a decent boat. It was a little narrower than I'd like but it got around pretty good and looked like it had ample room for 2 guys.
  11. Might have something to do with the heavy salt content? Maybe the density? I don't know, I rarely use an actual Senko.
  12. Tie your own, just run it through the bait, tie to the hook and tie it at whatever length you want the leader. You could use heavy fluorocarbon too if you wanted. Obviously not as bite proof, but looks a lot more natural. My first swimbait fish was much smaller but I know what you mean about that bite, it's so addictive!
  13. Never fished a BBB either but I'll probably get around to it one day, seems like it would be a lot of fun.
  14. Biospawn baits are legit. I tried a Vile craw for the first time in a weeknight tournament Thursday night. I got 3 of our 5 keepers including our 2 biggest on it flipping docks, something that never works on this lake. I wish I would have picked it up from the start instead of an hour into the 3 hour tournament. Still, those 2 bigger fish it caught me were the difference between second place and getting some money, and finishing in the middle of the pack.
  15. Never had any desire to try one but I would for $20. Never know when you might have a reel kick the bucket on you and need something to fill in for a minute if nothing else.
  16. Welcome! This is a great place to find folks to hitch a ride with. I don't travel much but when I do it never fails that I can find someone to fish with or at least tell me where I can have a good shot at getting bit.
  17. Probably going night fishing tonight if anyone wants to join. Haven't decided where for sure yet.
  18. Even the cheap digital ones are pretty accurate. I've got a $20 Berkley digital from Wal Mart that's close enough. Even if you don't have a scale if you carry a soft tape so you can get the length and girth you can plug that into the fish weight calculator and get in the ballpark.
  19. Down $.04 more last night to $2.57. Hoping it drops a little more before I hit the road for some night fishing tonight. Boat's below half a tank too so hopefully it will get down considerably more before I fill the ol gal up.
  20. T rig, Rage Craw, baby brush hog, Pit Boss Punching rig-Pit Boss, Turbo CrawZ
  21. Lots of people catch bass on livebait. I don't do it often anymore but fishing live craws with a hook and no weight is how I use to catch lots of bass before I had an understanding of how to fish lures.
  22. I must have had a defective Punker, that was the hardest bait to walk I've ever owned I think other than a tiny bait like a Zara Pooch. Once it was walking it wasn't bad, but getting it to start was terrible. It was one of the injected baits though, not one of the wooden ones so maybe that had something to do with it.
