  1. X2, those certainly appear to be small stripers, not wipers.
  2. 100% not stripers. There's only 1 lake in Kansas with a fishable population of stripers, and the lake those came from isn't it. The shape is probably the best way of identifying the fish. Wipers are normally built more football shaped and thinner side to side, while stripers are more cylindrical, it's not a surefire way of IDing them either though. I've seen wipers with nearly solid stripes, and stripers with broken lines also. They both have 2 tooth patches towards the back of their tongues too. A wiper with nearly solid stripes and not as "tall" as they typically are. Again, 0% chance it's a striper. More typical shaped and striped wipers.
  3. 20# braid is very thin though and has a tendency to dig into itself worse than a heavier braid. Plus it takes more to fill the spool than a heavier braid. It's more of a performance issue for me. I don't know anyone who thinks lighter braid stretches? I use braid down to 10# on my spinning gear for the simple fact that it doesn't stretch and I can get better hooksets with light tackle. It's not so much straight in open water, but most of the grass I fish is just within the first few feet of the shoreline. So when I clear those weeds I'll walk the bait slowly right at the edge of the grass, then quickly the rest of the way to the boat. Being able to walk a bait in holes in the grass is a big bonus to because I can impart action on the bait without moving it forward very far. I had them hit the bait as I was walking it just past the weedlines a couple times on Tuesday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCnI8jFuAEE
  4. Or just right click on the picture and select Google search (if you're using Chrome).
  5. It's a remote for my Virb Elite. I can turn it on, start/stop recording, and take pictures by pushing a button on my wrist instead of on the camera.
  6. No, but after working in law enforcement for almost 10 years, you see some stuff.
  7. Mines pretty hard to mistake. If the color doesn't give it away, the Golden Retriever will.
  8. Now on my bucket list.
  9. Eagle Claw Featherlite with a 1000 Shimano TX spinning reel loaded with 6lb Trilene.
  10. Really? I don't think I've ever seen a gar that wouldn't chase anything I threw at it, unless they're just surfacing to breathe. If I see one laying still or cruising I can get at least a follow 100% of the time.
  11. Keep the Sahara and get a 25 size Pfluegar Trion.
  12. Mine was working fine today
  13. If I do half as good at Gardner Thursday night as I did today I'll be a happy guy! 8 keepers over 15" that I measured, maybe another 1 or 2 that would have gone that I didn't bother measuring. Just over 13 pounds for the biggest 5. Normally it would take every fish I could catch in a day out there to get 13 pounds. Bigger fish were on frogs, bladed jig, beavers, and a swimbait. I only fished about 1/2 the lake and I got a late start and left early so who knows what could have happened if I'd gotten out early or had all day to fish. Working on getting a video for everyone before Thursday, but there were a lot of fish caught so uploading is taking awhile
  14. I can't post most of the things I thought I'd never see happen that I've now seen happen several times at work. Ever seen someone punt another guys fake leg right out from under him? Or someone swallow an ink pen whole? Or someone get punched so hard that it fractured their eye socket so badly that their eye popped out and was just hanging? So many that are much better but none that are appropriate.
  15. Last walleye trip my dad and I went on if we were in water deeper than 8' we were too deep. Catching them casting 3" power minnows at the bank. I caught a nice 19" eye in about 8" of water. Dad caught the big fish of the trip in 3.5' of water right next to the boat. Walleye aren't the deep water fish they're labeled as, not around here anyways.
  16. I don't mind cats, but thankfully my wife is allergic to them so I don't have to worry about having one in the house.
  17. Carp are very powerful fighters, just extremely overpopulated in a lot of our lakes, to the point the effect the clarity of the water in some cases.
  18. I fished Indiana in a regional tournament once. It took me 3 days to catch 4 fish, you have my condolences.
  19. I know and I missed out on it because we were staying in Grove instead of Tulsa. I think Big O was the only person we ran into walking around the expo the little bit that we did. Would be nice to get to meet a few people in person that I post with on here.
  20. That's what I was thinking. Seems like tungsten would be too hard and damage the line worse than a regular split shot does pinching it on.
  21. Looks like it could be 3 to me. Nice fish regardless of what it weighs!
