  1. I bought a used 12' johnboat for $100. Just have to check Craigslist a lot and call as soon as one is posted for cheap and have cash in hand because they go fast!
  2. My son has a shirt that says the same thing. He has Daddy's fishing buddy and Grandpa's fishing buddy and a few others also. Congrats on the little one Bass Pro carries some but they're really expensive. The online search option is the cheapest and easiest way to find them. Congrats to you also OP. Yeah, you're going to have to cut back on fishing time, and it's going to be rough sometimes, but man those good times, little laughs and smiles make you forget about all of it!
  3. X2, great fish, but I'd love to have 45 degree water to fish!
  4. Mine son is going to have to get something a little nicer than his toy set soon if he wants to be that good by the time he's 3. Personally, I hope he's interested in a different kind of bass in a few months
  5. I want my bait to be hitting bottom unless I'm trying to tick it over the tops of weeds or bang it through timber for suspended fish.
  6. I don't have my transducer mounted yet, waiting for the jack plate mount to get here Wednesday. I have the Ram installed and wires run though so I can power the unit up and scroll around. Screen is very clear and it's so easy to navigate the menu options. I have a feeling I'm really going to like these things
  7. They supposedly went back to the old mold or molding process that's supposed to make them more similar to the old warts. They did add new colors as well though. It isn't new for 2015 though, it was last year I believe. They are different than the ones that were in production when Rapala first started making them again though and seem to work much better.
  8. Little Johns come with Gamakatsu trebles on them. IMO, you're wasting money switching those out for Owners since they're both great hooks.
  9. I agree with the suggestion to upgrade to a 24V system, at least a 70lb IMO. I had a 55lb 12V on my 16' aluminum and even that wasn't enough if there was much wind (there's always lots of wind in KS). If that's not in your budget right now then for sure rig them parallel so you can get a longer battery life.
  10. I won't be drinking either, and I have no problem being a DD, but I'm not babysitting anyone either. I think 2 cabins is probably the best route just so we aren't as packed together and to give the toilet a break in the mornings after everyone's coffee starts working Yeah, cause you and I NEVER bring 10 times more crap than everyone there could use in a weekend
  11. Soft water>hard water 100% of the time.
  12. I've got an Abu 5600 BCX, barely used that I'd sell for $35 shipped. I bought it to use for my smaller swimbait rod but I found another reel in storage that does it better so I have no use for it anymore. Barely a mark on it as it's only been in the boat twice and caught 1 fish.
  13. For senkos it's braid with a fluoro leader without a doubt. I like 10lb test/2lb diameter Power Pro Super Slick for that duty.
  14. Havoc The Jerk is what I fish most now. I used to fish the YUM Houdini Shad but not sure they make them anymore?
  15. That picture was before I was a member on here and before I carried a digital camera or even had a camera phone. I had to scan it into my computer for the contest because I didn't even have it on the computer Even if you do guess the weight, all the corrects are drawn from at the end. I hope one of you guys do win so we can compare both our rods
  16. I use either mono or copolymer exclusively for any bait with trebles.
  17. If I thought for a second I could swing it, I would try.
  18. I was thinking either the big cabin that sleeps up to 10, or we can get 2 of the mid sized cabins and split the group up. I think they all have 1 bathroom and 2 or 3 bedrooms depending on the cabin size. We made it work at Grand last year with everyone sharing one bathroom and only 1 bedroom. It's about $60-$70 a person for 2 nights either way.
  19. To add onto what Scott said, I fished out of a similar boat for several years. It got me around, but much better options out there. They're very heavy, and they fall apart after a lot of use. That price isn't terrible, but if you have a truck you can put a 12' johnboat in the back and go without a trailer and lights to have to worry about. Plus a johnboat will last forever if you take good care of it, and you can do modifications to it much easier.
  20. Nope, they look like this guy. My buddy Rick with his Missouri River monster from a couple years ago.
  21. Welcome!
  22. I saw some of them at Academy the other day. They look like really good baits, especially at that price point. Good to see companies taking cues from other companies offering more affordable baits to the average Joe. I love fishing the premium baits when I can, but why waste a Senko when they're chewing and eating any plastic that lands in front of them?
  23. Never caught one, mainly because they don't live anywhere in KS.
