  1. Yep, didn't fight very well either, probably 10 seconds from hookset to the net. I doubt that fish lived much longer.
  2. Buzzed that picture is awesome! Lots of crappie guys use those dock demons for fishing from dock slips and give rave reviews. I played with it a lot this winter in the house fishing for the dog, it's a pretty impressive combo for $10.
  3. Whatever you like. Fish are going to be more drawn to the commotion than the color with those things.
  4. But probably one of my favorite pictures ever
  5. I too had all my tackle, rods and reels stolen on one occasion, and my boat in another occasion. That's like getting punched in the gut. I've lost 2 68 Hudds and had a 110 magnum fall apart on me.
  6. To add to what Gardnerjigman said, keep.it simple. Don't try to make techniques work for you that you're not good at or never done before. I tried that several times in tournaments and it never worked out for me.
  7. Good luck, even the guides that fish there every day can't find crappie. Get a trout permit and some power eggs and go to Taneycomo for an hour and catch dinner.
  8. They look great in the water and have a great clacking sound during the retrieve. 30 is pocket change for a rat too.
  9. That's a great fish for Leavenworth Joe!
  10. 2 of my 3 fish were on your baits Drew. I switched to a smaller 78 pointer because the water was so cold but all I did was catch the smallest one of the day. Olathe and Gardner are both thawed.
  11. I got them directly from Garmin.
  12. How'd that work out for Christie in 2013? Lots of guys from that area that fish Grand a lot. It's not a herring lake either so fish are much easier to pattern. I'll be there again! The last one at Grand was a blast!
  13. I have a 7' 3" H/F and 7' 6" H/F Ethos, didn't spend $50 on either.
  14. I was there Friday. I had 3 bites and landed zero. I did get a big shad on a trap that looked like he hit the bait.
  15. Frogged toggs or the Academy suit if you want something warmer.
  16. Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, bladed jigs.
  17. Both deceptive pictures. The Mexican bass was extremely long, 27" but only 14 or 15 inches around If I remember correctly. She could have easily been in the 13-15 pound range but was probably in her twilight of life. The Kansas bass was a tank, tall, thick, but not overly long. One of the healthiest and strongest largemouth I've ever caught for sure.
  18. Washed out in that cold muddy water.
  19. H2O Mettle if you want brand new in that price range. Or find a used reel in the flea market.
  20. I'll be trying some new baits this year like the Duo 300, 8XD, and Evolve baits. The 6XD is my deep cranking staple though.
  21. You can pitch a dock with a 1oz jig or a weightless Senko. You probably will want a lighter and maybe shorter rod though.
