  1. Holy crap, the brain sneeze you'll have to go through to eat that thing before it melts!
  2. Speaking of irrelevant topics. Shortstop Phillips 66 & Grill & Giant Ice Cream Cones 18440 Marshall St Garfield, AR 72732
  3. I'd go with the 50 for the simple fact that it's easier to find and the diameter agrees with baitcasting gear better IMO.
  4. No, we were at Wolf Creek. La Cygne has been extremely hit or miss this year with them trying to get the new stack online. The plant has been off a lot so the water is cold and a good portion of the lake has been frozen over at least a couple times. They just had the new stack up and running when something broke in the plant and they had to go back offline. I've heard that they had it back up and running as of this week though. I've also heard the new stack is much more efficient which means it uses much less water to cool, which is going to mean much colder water temps even when it's running. Still, I'll take cold, soft water over cold, hard water any day.
  5. Depends a lot on time of year. Jerkbaits and shakyheads are both great in clear water. I agree with gobig though, swimbaits in clear water is about as exciting as it gets.
  6. Fall asleep while trolling a big crank and have a 40lb striper eat it and you won't own that rod anymore
  7. Havoc Grass Pig Jr or Beat Shads are good trailers without breaking the bank.
  8. Haven't used the BBB version but Chompers makes one and it's a great worm on a shakyhead.
  9. We call that shooting a rooster tail or doing the orangutan hang off the back of the boat I've been unfortunate enough to see it done once. My second tournament I ever fished, I was 16 and my boater was probably around 70 and came off kind of gruff. Despite that we had good conversation on the way to the lake (Table Rock), and I was excited for the day. I hadn't seen Table Rock since I was 5 and I was shocked how clear the water was. I don't think we caught a fish until noon. I started seeing fish on beds everywhere when we got back into a cut where it was calm. My boater didn't have the patience to fish for bedding fish and after I caught my second keeper he turned to me and asked if I knew how to run a trolling motor. Thinking he just wanted to take a leak or eat his lunch I told him I did, I shocked when he said "Well get up here and run it then. You have a chance to win this thing and I'll be lucky to catch a fish all day if this is how we have to fish, doesn't make any sense for both of us to do bad". So I walked to the front of this guys brand new 20' Ranger and proceeded to put enough fish in the boat to finish 4th that day. Ol' Mr. Wyatt was one of my favorite guys in the club after that day and was always very nice to me the whole time I fished with them.
  10. I'm pretty sure that's what I had in my first pair of Fathoms several years ago and I liked them really well.
  11. I'd second the St. Croix suggestion. They make a 7' H/F Premier spinning rod but it's a bit above your price range. Provided you aren't fishing super heavy stuff, there's a 7' MH/F Mojo that should get the job done that's just above your range at $110 but I'm sure you can find it for less. St. Croix rods tend to run heavier than what they're rated, and I've owned a MH/F Premier, it's a stout rod that I think you could pair with braid and a 4000 size reel and make it work for frogging.
  12. Might check some saltwater bait companies, it's a very popular color in the salt it seems like.
  13. Gunmetal Shad and Skeet's Magic are 2 of my favorites. I really haven't had a LC jerkbait color I didn't like though. Aurora Black was my first pointer I ever bought, I was probably 16 or 17. I still have it and it has very little paint left on it. Don't fish it often but it still catches fish.
  14. I've had very limited success with one.
  15. I work in the fishing department at Cabela's for 5 years. I didn't like the company but enjoyed the work. Getting paid to BS with other fishermen and teach people about fishing all day was like second nature to me.
  16. You can vary the depth the bait runs a lot by the angle the blade is bent as well. Just like a jig, a bulky skirt or trailer will make them fall slower and ride higher.
  17. I find the bend of the blades effects the hunting action more than the head shape. Actually the narrower swim jig heads seem to hunt better because the water shoves them around more than the fatter heads.
  18. What does a pike eating a baby duck in Fairbanks, Alaska have to do with fishing in Arkansas??
  19. Ouch! That's harsh! I kept waiting to get asked if I wanted to pair up with him and it never happened. I kept telling Jon I'd pair up with him for one so figured this would be a good time.
  20. I'll let you fish with mine if you promise to keep your cloths on
  21. I wonder if it varies by airline? We flew Southwest and they went through my tackle bag that had hooks in it up to 8/0, but they had no problem with me taking it onto the plane? It was actually May of 2013 so maybe things have changed since then with all the goings on of the world? Probably the best lesson out of this would be to call the airline and ask them directly since they'll know the right answer
  22. I had no issues when I flew and I took my tacklebag as my carry on last year.
  23. For you guys that haven't seen it and would like the chance to get your hands on one of the new G Loomis E6X rods! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/151519-win-a-new-g-loomis-e6x-rod/
  24. So right now we have; Peter/Jimmy Curt/Coty Chris T/Ryan Clayton/Jon Adam/?? ??/Sean Better start stocking up on those Swing Impacts
