  1. Darker, more opaque colors like black, green pumpkin or junebug. Also, chartreuse veins and tips on the tails work well.
  2. If I wanted to make a lightweight rod for jiggin' and wormin', who makes the lightest weight blanks on the market? Is it possible to make a rod which weighs less than a Kistler LTX Helium II?
  3. Sounds like a great deal. Congrats!
  4. The last it was like that for me was fishing a windy shoreline with a spinnerbait. Every cast, fish on. I would cast and reel and would be able to tell exactly where they would hit.
  5. My boat stays stored inside and I wipe it down every time out, so mine really aren't baked on....but....I use Duckie and it works well.
  6. Nada will get you a good idea. If boats in your area are selling for below nada, then adjust yours accordingly. Here is AZ, boats sell for near the low value. Go to www.boattrader.com and see what other boats in your area are listed for. Those boats you saw for that low might be the exception to the norm.
  7. I've never had a problem with ***. My friend did though on a hot swimbait. Took 6 months to finally get it.
  8. That looks like so much fun. I hear that is a growing method of fishing...off a kayak.
  9. I personally have two trains of thought on how i start. Here in AZ it gets really hot and the bass come up shallow to eat in the morning so I will start with top water or jerkbaits. I will end up throwing worms during the heat of the day as the bass move deeper. then come back up shallow around sunset when they feed again. Now that seems to work in the summer. Other times of year, or if bass are not in that patttern, I usually like to cover water and try to find active fish. I will start with a crankbait, buzzbait, spinnerbait or something along those lines and cover some water. If that does not produce, I will switch it to something else like a jerkbait or maybe a worm.
  10. more fun than fame....I don't care about whether I get any fame or anything. I fish tournies for the competition, not any fame.
  11. Sometimes they want a lure like that fast, sometimes slow....sometimes 1 pop before a pause, sometimes 2, 3 or 4+....sometimes they want a splashing sound, sometimes a gulping sound. My point is that you want to figure out what the fish want. Try it all different ways and when you get a bite stick with it. As a general rule of thumb for me, I start out fishing it faster in warm water and slow in cool water...then adjust from there.
  12. I don't know any books, but do you subscribe to any magazines? Those are always a good read.
  13. wow, did not even know they had those! Thanks for sharing! Awesoem underwater photos.
  14. If you live outside CA, TX or Mexico a 10 pounder is probably a once a lifetime fish. A 7+ is truely a nice fish to be proud of.
  15. That is what I was thinking. If you were fishing middle of the afternoon, you may have missed the prime eating times.
  16. Wow nice striper. I dream of catching one that big at Lake Powell! Good job!
  17. Good job man. That there is some motivation to keep on fishin'
  18. 7' MH Action worming/jigging rod 7' L or ML spinning rod for finessing (shaky head, drop shot) 7' M action for cranks, spinnerbaits
  19. I've never heard of a Blazer, got a link? For $33K I'd be looking at a nice used ranger. There are killer deals on lightly used boats right now withthe way the economy is going. You can get so much more boat for the money than what you list there.
  20. I used to fish out of an ski/runabout boat and we made one with an ice chest. Get an aerator from bass pro shops or simlar and put it in there. We would change half the water out every couple hours and never had any problems. On hot days, we would throw some ice in there.
  21. From what I understand, if you choose to harvest, you want to harvest the smaller fish....smaller than 13". Leave the big girls in there.
  22. When you grab the bass, just grab it real firm. It's going to try and flop around a couple times right when you grab it, then it will sit still. Keep firm pressure on its lip. Don't worry about it's tongue, just grab its lip with your thumb inside its mouth and the side of your index finger on the outside. When most people make a mistake lipping a bass its because they are too timid to just grab it.
  23. My advise is to keep getting out there and throwing that jig. Learn different ways to fish it and and figure out what the bass want. a jig is one of the best baits to build confidence in. Read the seasonal articles on the bassresource homepage, too, for great tips.
  24. Hey man, sorry to hear that. Dang that sucks. I seriously feel bad for you. I have not lost any over the boat but I have broken some rods by stepping on them and stuff. Ruins my day.
  25. I'm another fan of the crucial in this price range. I've heard they have a lifetime warranty and that you can take the rod back to the store you bought it from under warranty instead of mailing it in. Anybody able to confirm this?
