  1. Now that would be anticlimactic. ;D ;D
  2. For me it's a jig. The first one was a 1/4 oz black Arkie and a black #11 Uncle Josh Pork Frog. I didn't know beans from buckshot, but I had read that the pros used that jig and pig combo hopping it on the bottom near wood and rocks. Fortunately the fish did not know that I was clueless and bit the thing anyway. That was the beginning of my love affair with bass fishing. I don't reckon I'm going to get over it at this point, nor do I want to.
  3. I have a 5 with the built-in maps. I've not used any Nav. cards with mine, but have you tried moving out to make sure you're not in too tight? That may be a dumb question, but it took me some time on my first trip, to figure out that for some reason it had done that. Once I pulled out, to get a bigger view, everything was cool. It has not done it since. Good luck.
  4. Both of those rods should serve you well. 8-)
  5. RW you should copy that answer and keep it on a clip board. Just about covers it. 8-) I think brand loyalty makes things easier and faster. I have figured out what works, so I don't have to wonder... I do appreciate opinion also, especially from an experienced angler. I am going to try Yo-Zuri Hybrid line this year, based on RW's and other's opinion of the line. RoLo's writings (and dodgeguy's pictures ) have convinced me to give braid another shot this coming year. Owner hooks, Lucky Craft Pointers, wacky rigged Senkos, and many other things I use or will use are as a result of the opinions of others here. If and when I buy a Shimano it will be a Curado e7-RW has convinced me. :-?That is one of the great things about this site, it gives access to the opinions of many good bass fishermen. 8-) I wonder if I can convince RW to buy a BPS branded reel? :
  6. The "disposable reels" that I have continue to work nicely after a couple of years of use and abuse. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe they are better quality than some give credit. I believe they are better quality, and that for the money they offer good value. My opinion is not theoretical. I own and use Extreme and Pro Qualifier reels regularly.
  7. You're asking "The Sheriff of The Shimano Posse " if he's serious. Rooster, RW is not kidding. He has made that comment a number of times. He has the right to be wrong just like the rest of us. The fact that BPS buys from an outside source and has their Logo applied seems to be a point of contention. It makes no sense to me, as I have said several times. : Whether you buy BPS stuff or not makes no difference to me. I don't make a nickle one way or the other. I do think it is a LEGITIMATE option. 8-)
  8. I think the answer is both no and yes. : Most of the time a big trailer is the way I go. If that's not working I sometimes will catch fish by downsizing both jig and craw. I think you just have to experiment to find the size/rate of fall they are looking for.
  9. I'm not sure it would be anything but climactic. ;D Two undefeated teams for the first time in the biggest game ever. I think it would will be drama of the highest order. On a side note, my Rams may be the saddest excuse for a football team in the league right now. The post-season will finally put us out of our misery. :-[
  10. +1 I've used Gammy EWG for years without complaint. I am going to try Owner because of the many good reviews on this board.
  11. That may be the most obnoxious, insulting fishing video ever: in a genre rich with competition.
  12. From everyone I talked to the Maxxum is a very good TM. I was going to buy one for my boat. The reason I didn't is I couldn't get the built in transducer, so I went with a Fortrex. The digital speed control is great and is much more efficient than the multi-speed control.
  13. Steezy I'm guessing yours don't have the Mad Max machine-gunned, crazy special tuned package. :
  14. There are some of the most knowledgeable bass fishermen you will ever talk to on this site. Most really want to answer your question. Give just a little more info and you'll get more precise answers. Are you new to fishing, what you like to use, where do you fish, how much do you want to spend? There are also many good fishing articles on site to get you started. A little time there will answer many questions. Good luck.
  15. I only have one XF rod a 7'M. I love the way it casts. It loads up quickly and for plastics and light jigs it works great. I have a 7'MH-F that I now use for frogs, but my next rod will be a 7'MH-XF.
  16. Zoom has long been my favorite, but NetBait Paca craws and chunks, and Bass Pro's Stickos are also must haves for me.
  17. Having grandchildren with autism, the cause for which the beard was sold, I applaud the effort the pros have made to increase awareness of this disorder. Ike and Skeet may never make the top of my favorite list. Their styles and personalities are a little over the top sometimes IMHO, but I can't help but like the guys. 8-)
  18. Yes, for $50 you can get Lake Insight on the 5. On the Lowrance site is a link to the list of lakes, by state, I believe. It is a huge list of lakes covered. I would bet all of the bigger lakes (and some of the smaller ones) in your area are included. 8-) The Insight USA appears to include enhanced maps of coastal and inshore water that is not on the 5.
  19. I'm with you Tony. Lights...governmental denials. It an age old story. It is just a mater of time before the reports of abductions and...er...such.
  20. I was going to order a few. I have not used Ti before, but I know it gives you a better feel for what's going on. Just haven't been able to justify the cost. Ti is titanium, W ("wolframite") is tungsten I never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the set. :-[ Good thing I guess. : ;D Thanks for heads up. 8-)

  22. It always starts this way. First the big rotating spiral light, then the abductions, then the anal probing...I'm just glad it has started in Norway this time. Most of the time it is in one of the Southwestern states. Hasn't happened here in the Midwest for several years now.
  23. I wonder if they have changed since you last ordered? The site says they have a plastic insert.
  24. Traditional Crig is: 1. Sliding weight on main line 2. Bead/bead-clacker/two beads-one bead is standard 3. Swivel 4. Leader 5. Hook
  25. I'm sure if you watched Glenn do it, it would look as easy as it sounds. It just takes practice. I've worked hard this year to improve my pitching. I still struggle a bit with lighter presentations. Start with something in the 1/2 -3/4oz range till you get the hang of it would be my suggestion. Good luck.
