Ordering new boat but which motor?
I have trouble believing that boat will do 51 mph with a 90. I'd say that's closer to what the 115 will do.

A Fun Idea Maybe....
I participate in something like this for WI. We go each week by length. Biggest fish wins. The length of the fish also adds up for points towards AOY. 20" bass gets 20 points, regardless of whether it wins or not. The guys who run it make lures. The AOY for 2010 gets to design a bass jig, gets a certain number of them, and that jig design is sold with their name on it.

Survey (For those who are catching fish).
Yeah, i fish in march sometimes in WI, and although i have a bobber on i'm secretly wishing for a nice bass.

How ironic
I don't remember any days where the heat was bothersome...so i think i'm safe to wish for warmer weather.

Night fishing safety glasses
Actually, i ran through a group of birds one night. I was going slow enough that i didn't hit any. All i heard was wings flapping. I think they were seagulls. My partner is the one who took the duck to the skull, I was driving and fortunately it didnt hit me because it knocked him out for a few seconds. I never even gave birds/ducks a second thought about flying around at night until that happened. The birds i ran through were sitting in the water, and it was august. Tons of seagulls up here in august. I suddenly heard wings flapping and water splashing, so i cut the throttle.

Night fishing safety glasses
Yeah, i have a pair of safety glasses. I was just curious if there was a company who made some tailored for night fisherman, and how many others took the extra precaution at night. Probably wouldn't buy them as a clip on LED hat light works just fine, just curious.

Favorite way of casting.
Yup skipping is right up there with pitching for me.

Night fishing safety glasses
Actually, i ran through a group of birds one night. I was going slow enough that i didn't hit any. All i heard was wings flapping. I think they were seagulls. I'll probably just wear some clear safety glasses or those yellow "high def" or whatever they call them. I don't have much of a problem taking a lure anywhere else when given the choice of it versus the eye.

Night fishing safety glasses
That's definitely a valid concern. My boat tops at about 30mph, and i take it easy at night. So not something i'm too worried about. Just wondering if anybody else takes the extra precaution to avoid hitting themselves in the eye when they set the hook too close to the boat in the dark. I know i've done it in the daytime when i'm not paying attention, and had to duck.

It's definitely nice. He's a lot stronger than i am, so that probably also helps.

The kind of crap I think about in the dead of winter.
If i have to go bad, i'll try to beach the boat and drop one in a wooded area.

Night fishing safety glasses
Anybody fish with safety glasses when they night fish? I'm looking to get on a night bite this summer. Tried a couple times towards the end of last season and didn't do well. That's besides the point though. I'm worried about taking a lure to the eye when i'm out alone. Does anybody use safety glasses that are different than your ordinary ones? Different tint to help visibility, or maybe built in LEDs or something.

anything you do that goes against "the rules of fishing"?
The only problems i see with losing lures is that it could hurt the fish that bites you off...and the obvious fact that you lost a lure. I don't fish with very expensive lures, so that solves the latter. I don't care much about a pike swimming around a lure in his face either. They still eat. Had one boat side with a popper in its mouth and thought, "Ooo, free popper." Then my line cut, lol. Bottom line, i don't fish with leaders to prevent bite offs. And what's all this about rules of fishing? There's only one rule in my book: - don't fish with something that doesn't work

Name a fishing technique that you absolutely LOATHE!
I don't catch much on crankbaits due to the lake i fish being very weedy and not very deep. But, i also don't fish them much either so what do i know. BUT, i love a good crankbait bite. I love throwing them on a hard bottom...one second you hit a rock and the next the rock is swimming away. It catches me by surprise every time and really gets me pumped. I almost always get the small guys doing this so i throw them on a light spinning rod and it's a lot of fun.

Favorite way of casting.
Try backhand. Use your right hand, over your left shoulder, or left side. When you fish from shore it seems like there's always something in the way. I suck at backhand. That's definitely something i gotta work on. My buddy'll slide a jig under a dock using a backhand cast with his phone in his left hand. It's ridiculous.

The Bass pro's
It would be hard to see him actually feathering the spool. His thumb is probably riding just over the top of it and barely touching the line. When i cast, my thumb never moves from the spool release bar. I agree, it's cool that you're studying these videos. I will tell you there's no substitute for actually trying one though. It looks so easy when the pros do it (as you're learning now). Took me a few trips to actually be able to effectively fish with one. Now i'll try my hardest not to fish with a spinning reel. Baitcasters give you so much more control.

its bad when
But can the guy fish? My dad used to work with a guy that did nothing but collect fishing gear. He'd always be showing my dad some new "hot" lure or reel. He was a garbage fisherman, ha ha.
-
How many rods?
Small boat and an extremely tight budget means that i carry no more than 4 or 5 rods. 3 baitcasters rigged with something different. 1-2 spinning rods. 1 for skipping, and the other for really small/lightweight stuff.

Retire To Bass Fish!
I'm looking forward to BEGINNING my career so i can fish more often. Currently planning to major in secondary education. Gonna move south too, of course. Eventually, it'd be nice to do some sort of guide service too. That would help offset the cost of having so much free time. Or some other part time job in a fishing related environment would keep me busy enough.

First Topwater Fish of 2011
No kidding! I think the rule book should be replaced with "fish whatever catches em that day."

really fun game
That is the hardest game I have ever played. Couldn't get passed level eight. Did you realize you could run and jump onto the walls to rotate the whole thing? Took me until about level 8 to figure that out.

Crawdad colors and info all you need to match the hatch
[quote author=5667706661797C7B706727252522150 Think about this, why would a bass hit a pink Fluke? But they do!

Now that's standing behind your product.
I received what i thought was a bad spool of trilene 100% fluoro several months ago. I sent them an email explaining the problem, the lb test, when and where i bought it. 2 months later, no reply. Sent another, including my name and address. No reply, but about 2 weeks later i received a new spool, in what was IMO an over sized box (possible they just don't have smaller boxes, but whatever) and requested something like $12 or $15 for shipping. Pfffft, what a joke. I'm sure it could've been cheaper to ship, and likely was. Does each part of pure fishing have their own customer service and all? I've always liked pure fishing products, but i'll be much more reluctant to buy anything with the berkley label on it. :'(
